10th Anniversary trip to Disneyland, pre trip report.

It sounds like you have a wonderful trip planned. We loved Disneyland, and I'm sure you will too. When we did the Backlot Tour at Universal, Desperate Housewives was being filmed - I hope you are lucky enough to see that too! We didn't see any of the actors, but you never know.....

Laur's princess:

WOW!! And I thought WE had our SoCal trip all planned... :lmao:
We only have a rough idea of where we're going each day but there's nothing wrong with having more detailed plans. I hope all goes to plan and you have a fantastic trip! :thumbsup2

I know, I love to plan! The August data came up for Ridemax a few days ago and that threw me into a whole new level of planning!! I hope you have a fab trip too.

Well it is now 60 days before our final days reservations can be made so the last few things seem to be in place. We got all the reservations we wanted for the times we wanted which is great. All that is left to do now is to sort out the baskets to be delivered to the room, one more meal to book at the Wynn, Las Vegas and 2 more studio tours in Hollywood. But these can't be booked until next month anyway.

It seems that after 2 years of planning my trip is nearly here!!

It all sounds wonderful, Karen! Sounds like we're going to be there at around the same time - I'm making my PSs on Friday!! Have a fab trip and a magical 10th Wedding Anniversary...

What a wonderful trip you have planned! I'm sure you'll have an amazing time. You really can't beat the convenience of the Grand Californian, and how great to have a theme park view room.

Did you actually manage to book a waterside table at Blue Bayou? We've never been able to explicitly book our table on the waterside, but if you arrive really early it's not normally a problem if you're willing to wait for one to open up (...do -- it's so worth it!). Definitely schedule some DTD time, we love the California DTD, it's much more compact that at WDW and there are some really unique shops. La Brea Bakery is great for breakfast if you want a change from the hotel.

You probably know this already, but you mentioned visiting the Disney Studios in Burbank. It's nice to go see the outside and the various statues they have, but you can't (unfortunately) go in and have a look round.

In Las Vegas, you've made excellent choices with 'O' and 'Ka' -- in my opinion 'O' is the absolute best Cirque Du Soleil show out there, and 'Ka' is awesome too, although it's very different from all the other Cirque shows.

I can't wait to read your report; it sounds like you are very prepared, so I'm sure you'll make the most of your time. Have a great trip! :goodvibes

If you book your meal for 11:30am which is when it opens you automatically get a waterside table (well according to many regular Disneyland folks on the Disneyland board.)

I know you can't actually go in the Disney studios in Burbank (shame though), but I want to take some pictures of the dwarves holding up the building and the water tower. Plus as we will only be a few minutes away after our previous studio tour it would be a shame to be so close and not at least have a look. I'm really looking forward to seeing Ka as I have seen the making of it show on discovery and it looked amazing.

Sounds as though you are going to have a wonderful time Karen. We did a similar trip recently and had a blast. Congrats to you both on your Anniversary.

So even with all the planning I still keep adding things! Now that the August calendar is up on the DL site I have begun to think in more detail about what says we are going to see what parades, shows, fireworks etc. We can fit them all in, but I decided that as we will arrive at Disneyland at around 5pm we will perhaps want a bite to eat at some point. So we decided to book the electrical parade premium seating so we can watch the parade and have a nice glass of wine and some delicious nibbles whilst we watch the parade. By then it will be 9pm and we will be shattered, so we can then use the entrance straight in to our hotel from the park and off to bed. We want to be up early in the morning to line up for early entry.

So we are nearly down to one month to go, whooooooo.
I've decided what shows/parades/fireworks we want to see on what day to make sure we see them all. Plus we got the rest of our meals and studio tours booked. I just need to phone Disneyland to order the baskets to be sent to our room, but I'll do that next weekend. Oh and my copy of Walts biography arrived yesterday which I plan to read on the plane.

Finally my ticker is down to days!! Whooooo. I ordered some baskets to be in our room for our arrival. The CM at vacation planning asked if we were celebrating anything so I told him it was our 10th anniversary, he also asked if it was our 1st visit. He said they need to know these things for when we check in so they will have a card and some pins ready for us when we check in!
Now I just hope the next 30 days pass quickly!!

Yay-not too long now,i wonder what they will/may do for you being as though they asked you some questions-the card sounds good..x.

10 days to go!! Whooooo. Everything is booked now, including the Hollywood Studio tours that could only be booked nearer the time. Usually at this point my packing would begin, but as we are decortating our bathroom at the moment (new suite, all re tiled and everything) I can't actually get into my spare bedroom due to the bathroom stuff currently in there and the 2 cabinets and all the orniments from the top of the stairs that we had to move to get the new bath through!!) So right now my cases are still in the loft and it looks like it will be Tuesday at the earliest that they can be got down. Oh well, I guess I should start on my packing lists so I know what I need to gather together. Then once all the DIY is done I need to havd a tidy up and big clean of the house as my parents are house sitting for us whilst we are away to look after the pets.
So after wishing away the days so quickly I'm now hoping we will have time to finish the decorating, clean and tidy in time for us leaving!!

Great pre-trip report, glad you bumped it up as I hadn't seen it :goodvibes Looking forward to reading all about your trip when you return, especially all the different studio tours (we're only doing Universal due to time constraints) and DL :)

Whooooo, I managed to save $110 on our holiday today. I was checking some info on the Hilton website for our Six Flags stay and noticed that the rate had gone down. So I managed to cancel our booking with no penalty and re book at the cheaper rate!!

7 more days now!!

Hope you have a great time. It's very hot and sunny out here at the moment so no worries about the weather.

All the cases and bags are packed, just completed on line check in and printed off our boarding passes and are ready to go. We will leave our house at 5:30am tomorrow to drive to Heathrow ready for our 11 hour flight.
Whooooo, tomorrow evening I'll be watching the Electrical Parade!!
