Day 8

Our main event today would be dinner at O'Hanas. We were relly looking forward to this and couldn't wait until the evening. We decided that a lighter park day would be in order so as to not tire ds out too much so we decided on MGM again.
If you recall we went there on our first park day and we only lasted for a little bit before ds decided enough was enough. As a result of that, we didn't use our FPs for Lights, Motors, Action and that was one of my must do's for this trip. So as we entered the park we headed right for that area to get FP's for the first show of the day. We avoided the main areas so we wouldn't get sidetracked by any characters.
After that we continued with our "no real touring plan" trip and decided that Star Tours would be neat to try. Last year we almost made it to the entrance before ds decided that this wasn't for him. Since then we have given him lots of exposure to the genre, first through SpaceBalls and then the actual Star Wars movies so he was ready to go. We made it in with virtually no wait and we all thought that this was a pretty cool ride even though it was a little bumpy sitting in the back.
After browsing through Tatooine traders and deciding that they probably wouldn't want a lightsabre on the plane going home, we wandered next door to see Indiana Jones. This was a repeat from last year for us. We were in the very first row last year as I thought that would get me picked as an extra. Now that I have seen that is not the way to do it I was prepared this time. Well before I could even think of getting my butt cheeks off the seat, the guy next to me flew out of his seat and screamed so loud that I'm sure they could hear him at MK. Oh well at least I can say the guy next to me was picked. Once again we enjoyed this show and since we were seated in a different area, we got a new perspective on the stunts.
We still had a bit of time before LMA but not enough time ot try out another attraction so we strolled back towards the set through the Street of America. The streetscape of San Francisco was new to us. I think that the way the use perspective to make these look real is incredible. Along the way we came across the Power Rangers so some autographs and pictures needed to be gotten! ds only managed to get two before they called them back to the car to exit the area.
Our 10 minute FP window opened up for LMA so off we went. My first reaction was did we get in the right line!!
But then I realized that there was an even longer line on the other side of the fence and we were going to be let in first. Man it is a good thing that this stadium holds 5000 people! This was a good show. The stunts are spectacular and well laid out. The little tricks that they reveal are things that you probably would never think about when watching a movie.
It was now early afternoon and we didn't want to stay around too much longer. As we were walking along Mickey Avenue, we decided that Who Wants to be a Millionaire would be a good stop as it was a place to cool off. ds was interested in this as well (thanks to the game on the Lion King dvd). I was really surprised with the queue area here. The kept asking people to move forward and I thought it was getting a bit dangerous for the little people and then they opened the doors and it was like a stampede to get into to a seat. I think the Disney needs to give this some thought.
Anyway the show started and the first person to make it to the hot seat was a fellow canuck. Woohoo!! He was a teenager from Ontario and I think it made it through 5 or 6 questions. After I realized that we were supposed to answer the questions as well, I did pretty good. I was in the top 5 until the very last question. We will need to do this again!!
After the show we decided to head back to the resort for a swim and some rest before O'hana's. On our way out, we managed to run into Pluto so we got a couple of pictures and an autograph.
Later that same day.....
It was time for dinner at O'Hana's. We had heard lots of good things about the food and the cocunut races so we were all looking forward to the evening. We bused over to MK and took the monorail resort loop to the Polynesian. Checked in at the desk and waited about 10 minutes for our table. As our hostess showed us to our table, we were able to look around the restaurant. The big cooking pit is neat to see and the view is incredible. Our waiter took our drink orders and explained how things would work. This is the first time that I have been at a buffet where they bring things to you. Man what a great idea, you only have to worry about eating and dinking.
During our meal, ds got to parrticipate in a coconut race and a hula hoop contest. That was fun to watch and he was very happy with the prize; gummy worms. As we were finishing our meal, the family next to us had an anniversary cake brought out. They were celebrating the parents 30th anniversary. The mother brought over a piece of cake for ds and when we sent him over to thank them he told them it was our 10th. This caused them to send over two more pieces of cake. That was unexpected but much appreciated. Yummmm cakkkkkkkke!!
After competing our desert, we went out to catch the monorail again and managed to get a seat in the front. It was only a short ride over to to MK but the view after dark is fantastic. We thought it was a great ride except for the pilot. He wasn't overly friendly. Must have been the end of a long day. On the bus from MK to Pop we were able to see bit of the Electric Water Pagent. I hope that on the next visit we will be able to get a closer look at that one.
All in all, another great day at WDW. THe only problem is that we now only have 3 more park days left.
Tomorrow will be a long day. We are planning on AK in the morning, Crytal Palace for dinner and wishes to close the day.
Hope to get a few more of these done soon. Thanks for reading.
