Hey all.
I am still sorting through our trip but I thought I could get the first couple of days out of the way as they were travel days.
The Cast and Crew:
me - declansdad (40) 2nd trip
dw - pooksma (??) 2nd trip
ds - declan (4) 2nd trip
Day 1 - Fredericton to Bangor
Back in November, we decided to fly out of Bangor instead of Fredericton. It is a 3 hour drive but the airfare is quite a bit cheaper. So around 1 pm we were packed and ready to go. By 3 pm (Maine time) we were in Bangor. It was fairly easy to find the airport and the Four Points Sheraton but check in was a bit comical. It seems that the only one with a reservation was ds. The lady on the desk said she would get it worked out and sent us off to our room. Since we are Starwood members, our room was on the club floor (6th) overlooking the airport. DS liked this because he was able to check out the planes.
After the room booking was fixed up, we decided that it was time for supper. On the way in ds notice a McDonalds. Our search was over acording to him. (Curse you Ronald McDonald) So he got his Happy Meal, his toy and Playland while we got a nutritious meal of burgers, fries and chicken strips.
With our great meal finished, we decided to look around for the statue of Paul Bunyan. When I was a wee tyke my parents took my picture in front of it and I thought it would be cool to get a similar shot of ds. We never did find it but we didn't look very hard either. Made a quick stop for some snacks and headed back to the hotel. It was time to set the wake up call and try to get some rest.
Day 2 - Bangor to Boston to Orlando.
5 am, up showered, ate a bit and walked over to the airport. Smooth check in at the Delta counter and off to the departure lounge. We soon realized that you didn't need to be at the Bangor airport 1.5 hours before your flight. Still, time went by and we were boarding our plane for the first leg to Orlando. Take off , seatbelt sign goes out, goes right back on and we are landing. I'm not kidding. The flight was so short that the flight attendant had to run to give everyone their snacks.
Getting through Logan was much easier this time. Delta has fixed up a terminal and everything is now there. We managed our way from one side to the other and settled in for what we thought would be a 2 hour wait. 6 hours and 2 new friends for ds later we were on our way again. (Seems they needed a part for our plane but the nearest store was Atlanta.) The flight to Orlando was smooth and we got to our luggage with no problems.
We were happy to see Sam from Tiffany Town Cars still waiting for us. He had us out of the airport, picked a few groceries and checking in at Pop Centure in less than an hour. Thanks Sam!!
Check in was quick and we got all our requests - 50's Bldg C, 4th floor, Illuminatins view, non smoking. Strolled over to the room, unpacked and rest for a second or two. Decided a swim would be refreshing. Not quite!! The water was wet but it was like bath water.
After the dip, we looked around a bit, purchased some snacks and our new Pop Mugs and head for the room to turn in.
Nothing too exciting on these days but I hope you enjoyed them. I will try to get a a report a day. I will also be posting some resort pics as soon as I find a new site. I am running out of space on Photobucket and I have about 500 pics from this trip.
