I'm booked on the Hawaii - Sydney cruise in October 2025 and have noticed the all aboard time in Hawaii on the first night is 10pm

That seems VERY late for us to be leaving, what happens with the muster drill and dinner?

The ships schedule will be the same, muster at 4pm, sailaway 4.30pm, early dinner and first theatre show around 6pm, later dinner and second theatre show around 8pm.

The ship will be cleared to leave after muster but ports are like airports, the port authorities like air traffic control set the departure schedules. There could be multiple different reasons for a late departure. Dublin port for example is tidal, so the large cruise ships can only depart at high tide due to the depth of the harbour water. Sometimes the ship has a later departure due to space at the next port, or due to how busy the departure port is.

I’ll make an educated guess: there will be a lot of B2B cruisers arriving with the ship from Vancouver. When the Wonder previously arrived from Vancouver (including last year) it either stopped at Honolulu and then returned or overnighted at Honolulu (as the Wonder is doing at Sydney on this itinerary) before passengers disembarked.

This and next year, the ship does not visit Honolulu nor overnight on the inbound cruise, so the late arrival gives B2B cruisers a chance to spend the day there.

All aboard isn’t until 10PM. Many B2B will be treating it as a port day and some people just arriving for this cruise won’t board until late, so the can’t have the Muster at 4PM. Otherwise, I agree it’ll be business as usual on the ship and you can join in whoever you board.

When I did EBTA in May, there was no main entertainment on the first night and I suspect the same will be true with this cruise. That said, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a very late “special” sail away. Per reports from last year, there were few children onboard (plenty on my EBTA though).

Thanks :)

Also the shops wont be open as the ship is still in port

If I am not mistaken, the rule is a muster drill must happen within 24 hours, so my guess is the muster drill is on day two.

I’m considering this cruise and am curious so I looked it up: that was the old rule but after the Costa disaster, it was to changed so that the drill must be completed before the ship left the dock.

It’ll be interesting if they bring back the digital drill just for this cruise. Most all passengers will be DCL veterans and many will have come from Vancouver.

Current ship departure time is 4:00 PM on the DCL App, this has changed 3 times since we booked
