I am buying white gold necklace as birthday gift for my wife. i am thinking about this one:

However Do women generally care whether its 14k vs 10k ?
Also ,do you think it looks good for woman who is mid-30s?

I think that 10kt gold is just fine. I would be hesitant to buy something online though, especially at a site like kijiji. Isn't that sort of like craigslist? The picture cannot be zoomed in enough to get a close look. I would recommend choosing something for her at a brick and mortar store. Happy birthday to your wife!

It's not an issue, especially given the style of necklace you're looking at.

I second the idea of buying at a brick and mortar store. That way, if she doesn't like it, she can exchange it for something she does like or there are issues with it, you can get help from the store. Buying from an unknown on the internet can be a problem.

I think 10k is fine as well. 10k gold is more durable than 14k if that makes a difference to you.

I am in my late 30's and I personally wouldn't love that necklace. It's cute, but for that price I think you could find something better. There is something a little juvenile looking about the heart. That's just my opinion and maybe your wife would totally disagree with me.

I care about the chain that is holding the pendant. A beautiful chain that matches the pendant in scale looks nice.

Right now the chain in the picture is basic and looks like I would break the chain and lose the pendant. The pendant is a bit on the "too much" side for me. I would want something more simple.

This is a little more ($250) however a heart in a "little blue box" with the words Tiffany on them as a gift would be a great B-Day gift.

:bday:

(Take her out for breakfast and give her the gift, provided she would get the reference.)

Now I am looking there, lol. I tell my family if they are stumped about where to get me a gift, this is the place.

I like this pendant as well.

I think 10k is fine I guess, but I don't know if she'd like the necklace...it depends on her style, really. I personally am not a fan of that at all -- it looks both juvenile and for more mature women at the same time. I can't explain it. I definitely wouldn't buy from a private owner either. Go somewhere reputable so she can exchange it if she doesn't like it.

First of all I would never buy jewellery from an internet site. No guarantees that you are getting real stones or real gold ( unless of course you know the difference.)

This is a very 'girly' design. Is that your wife's style? Or does she go for more modern? The chain seems a little flimsy for the size of the pendant.

I agree 10K is fine.....I would also not buy online......stores are always having good sales.
I got a nice heart necklace at Penney's for less than that.

Going against the grain - 14k. But I do agree go with brick & mortar, I have heard stories about web jewelry. I would at least buy from a web site that also has storefronts

Why not look at blue Nile. They have a great online store. I would not get 10k. Very cheap. Even though you can't tell by just looking at it, she will know it's 10k. It's like getting a dirty diamond for cheap. It may be a diamond but it's full of blemishes and imperfections.

Actually 14k gold is softer than 10k and you can't tell the difference just by looking at it. Also, some sites are perfectly fine to buy from. There are many reputable jewelry sites. I have 10k and 14k and very nice pieces and honestly, they've come from all over the place. Local jewelry stores as well as the Caribbean and Europe.

No you can't tell but you know. There is more alloy than gold used in it. If it's something special for someone, I would get at least 14k. In south America, you would never find 10k. Mostly everything is 18k down there.

It's easy to purchase off the internet, but you will really get better quality and better price from a local jeweler that handles estate jewelry. I have bought some Victorian and Art Deco pieces from local jewelers, and absolutely feel like I got a good price and love them. And if you get to know the owners, the prices can get even better!

Silly me, I thought you were asking us if we liked the 10K as in 10 thousand or the 14K as in 14 thousand. Guess I'm tired. hahaha

10k golf would make my skin break out. 14k does not. I agree with the others regarding being leery of that site. I have no issues shopping online, but I'd try a reputable site like a Amazon (can check ourt reviews!) or Blue Nile.

I'm 31 and I wouldn't wear that. Not my style. I don't think I would wear any heart shaped pendant, though.
