I tried a little harder to watch my temper and what I said. Either I'll blow my top or not speak to any one at all, so I walked on eggshells when I had to talk to a few of the people that I wasn't fond of. I made it a point to say hi and keep conversations short.
And every so often indirectly I'd ask some of the people who I could trust to give me an honest answer of what they thought of me. Frank a very straight to the point guy, told me yeah you were a pain in the beginning but you've gotten a lot better, and Monte always told me that I was a sweet girl and that he liked working with me a lot, but he'd never want to see me get mad.
Hope you've learned something, and good luck on your next job!

I think sometimes they just try to find something wrong to fire people. I worked at KMart once as a teenager for the holidays. At about the second or third week a girl who had worked there previously for the holidays came in and was a bit sad that she couldn't be hired, we had too many workers already.
. Well about a week later, they let me go stating that I spoke too softly to customers, (what !) me the kid who the teachers who often moved due to talking.:). And, also I had had too many 'voids' (customers who changed their mind kind of thing). Well for the past week I had only had two, maybe three a day, and all were because customers changed their minds, not because I made a mistake. And a lot less than the regular workers. Truly strange I thought.
Well about two weeks after that I was shopping there, when I realized that the girl who had not been hired earlier, was now working there. I think she just wanted the job that badly that she got management to let me go and hire her.
Though I missed the money at the time, I've always been thankful I never stayed for that dead end job. :) And, of course what do I do now, I work the window with the PO. I don't have any problems with being too quiet or making lots of mistakes.:)
Kim
BTW, good luck in finding a new job!

Sorry to hear you were fired, sounds very odd to me. I would definately write a letter but otherwise, really isn't anything else you can do. Still go to Epcot on your birthday and enjoy yourself, eat what you want and do what you want... have fun!

I disagree that you should write a letter. You got fired...move on, look for another job, and learn from your mistakes.

Sorry, I agree. I have no clue what the OP is trying to say.

I don't know about Florida, but in my state(Georgia) one can be fired for almost any reason within the first 90 days. In fact, they don't even have to give you a reason! So, things didn't work out--move one & quickly. Why not apply at WDW?

My attitude and such is something that I've had a problem with since I learned that yelling got me what I wanted. It didn't help that I had a grandfather that gave me everything. But it's also something I've been working on for years. It's not something that was just said. I try and do things the way kari would do them.

:scratchin: Hmmm...You're an adult now.Perhaps it's time to take responsibility for your attitude and get it in check.

There were a lot of things fishy about it.
And the hardest part, was that my boss told me I didn't get enough done. How was I supposed to get more done, when the three other people that I got hired with didn't seem to want to learn anything about the department, so all questions from them got directed towards me. And I don't know how many customers made the comment of "that was rude of him", because they came to me to tell me another customer needed help. It's not like I was that much smarter about plants than them when I first started, and it was a lot more than plants alone.

My attitude and such is something that I've had a problem with since I learned that yelling got me what I wanted. It didn't help that I had a grandfather that gave me everything. But it's also something I've been working on for years. It's not something that was just said. I try and do things the way kari would do them.

May I ask how old you are? If you are an adult the way your grandpa gave into your temper should not be relevant to your lifestyle anymore. Your post comes off as very superior and condescending to your peers. Perhaps that attitude is what got you fired. I have always heard that the 90 period was a time in which you could be fired for "no cause" meaning a company didn't have to go through a bunch of steps before doing the firing.

To be honest, I would not bother writing the letter. From the way you described your attitude and behavior I can understand why you were let go. You may not realize it but you were creating a hostile work enviornment for the other employees in your department. No one would be comfortable with a co-worker who yells, loses their temper often or gives the silent treatment.

Cut your losses, learn from the experience and move on.
