The people who took down our trees charged $1000- that was for one very large tree that was up against the deck, a smaller tree, trimming a tree that had large limbs over the house, grinding three stumps, cutting the logs in sizes ready to be split, and chipping and grinding the waste. They were about a third of the cost of most companies because instead of having a bucket truck and brand new equipment, they had a guy who would climb the tree with his tree spikes, and they used ropes and pulleys. It was interesting to watch the guy climb the trees, and it pays to shop around.

We had a quote for large trimming a number of years ago, and I decided against a cocky guy with a really expensive price, who insisted it be cut a certain way, that I didn't want, and went with one that was not only not cocky, but less expensive. He had his bonding and insurance papers right on him. We hired him.

Three days later, I hear the trucks and men in the back yard, and YIKES! I see the one I didn't hire. Oh no..I called the wrong guy..OH NUTS! Before they could start cutting, I went out (in my PJ's) and nervously said..umm..I think there might be a mistake. I didn't mean to call and hire you, I thought I was hiring someone different. He sort of hung his head (all cockiness was gone) and said..yeah, I do it part time and work for this oufit full time. I don't remember what I said, but I slowly backed back into the back door LOL!.
