1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die

While I adore the old Pride and Prejudice movie, I could not make it through the book....sorry Jane Austen...just could not get through it!

I love reading but I can't stand reading long lists. I've probably read quite a few of these though.

That's funny. How much more worthwhile material could we read if we didn't waste time on lists?

I figure I have about 20-30 years left. I'd have to read 2-3 books per month,
some of which I am not interested in. What about the books I WANT to read?

What a great thread!!! I have really gotten into reading a lot lately. Matter of fact I have read about 5 books in the past 4 weeks!! The last one I just read was fabulous!!!

Well, I read 14 of the first 500, most in the 1900s. In glancing through the list, I think I read twice as many of the 2nd 500. So, that just leaves about 950 or so to go.....................

and Tom Swayer is just not as worthy as Huck Finn IMO

I did a quick scroll of the list and read 34 of them. Like someone else, I read most of the Russian books.

Fathers and Sons was one of my favorite books to read in High School.
