Has anyone actually stayed in these cabins and are they the same as the other cabins at the Fort?

Just curious....

I didn't even know they had cabins there till I read it here.

We have never stayed in the cabins, but there are 2 (I think only 2) in loop 100. I don't know if they are just for VIP's like I have read on here. Every visit we have had to FW, they were always occupied. They look just like the other cabins except they are in a PRIME location:thumbsup2 !
Good luck! If you call WDW reservations you may or may not get someone that knows more inside info. on these cabins.:confused3 You can always request one, that is if "ordinary" folk can use them. Just don't be surprised if you don't get it. But then again, someone has to be lucky!;)

Best of luck!:flower3:

DH an I stayed in 118 on our last trip to the world. Same look as in the pictures so location would be the only difference> Lots of foot traffic.

I would agree! Foot traffic would be awful. They are right next to the cut through to the marina. I personally think that the pros out weigh the cons. I love being so close to the beach, outpost, rest. and store. We always request 100, 200 or 400 with 100 being our fav. At least the cabin would be more sound proof than a camper!;)

When we were camping with a group in about 2001 or so, we had some folks in campsites and some folks in cabins. One family in our group was assigned one of the cabins in the 100 loop. I personally checked it out, and it was identical to all of the other cabins at the Fort. The only difference is that both of these cabins have a really nice stone grill/outdoor fireplace.

I am going to get the story on these cabins the next time I'm at the Fort (which won't be long).

We requested these at our last trip (middle of this month). We didn't get them. Cast Member at check-in said they are reserved for VIPs and 'special' guests. I told him, since we've been there so often we should be considered 'special'. Didn't work.

So finally someone who has actually STAYED in the cabin in the 100 loop.
How is it that you came to stay there? Did you request it specifically...or did it just happend that they gave it to you.

I think having a cabin or two in each of the loops would be a great idea. There are always those of us who have RV's that travel with family or friends that don't, and it would give those people the opportunity to still be in the same loop with one another.
The only thing I didn't care for about the cabins..is that they are somewhat removed from the many amenties that the campground offers..having some placed sporadically in the regular camping loops would be convenient.

When we checked in, the CM told us we would be staying in cabin #118. Just dumb luck, I guess. I had actually requested the 700 loop to be close to the dock.

We stayed in one of the 100 loop cabins last April. I am a writer and I was working on an article about WDW for a Canadian magazine and that's why we were given that particular cabin. We LOVED it. Can't beat the location! We will be back in December!

This October Bobby Iger and Johnny Lasseter are having a party at one - I have been invited.

When you're saying the 100 loop, do you mean the 2100 loop? I thought the cabins were only in loops 2000 and higher???

No there are a couple of cabins located in the 100 loop near the marina. It's rare that we hear of anyone actually having stayed in them. It's nice to know from those here that posted that they do actually rent them out. Most say they are rented to VIP's wanting to stay in FW.
Personally, I think it's a great idea to have some cabins sporadically placed in the RV loops. However it does appear the 100 loop is the only loop where this is the case.

No, we stayed in cabin #118 in the 100 loop. I had no idea, at the time, that it was a special location.

We stayed in one of the 100 loop cabins in august 2006. We had a comp night given to us after a horrible stay at the wilderness lodge. They said I could use the night at the lodge or the cabins. We took the night in the cabins and added 10 more nights with free dinning. When we checked in they put us in the vip cabins for our entire trip. We were really surprised and had a wonderful trip.

Lucky you.:cool1: ..although a horrible stay at the WL:confused3 I'm surprised. We have stayed there MANY times, and although not everything has been perfect every time, I've always found the staff there to be very accomodating. Guess we've been lucky too!

we are going in june and need 2 cabins we requested near the begining of a loop d/t a very pregnant(8 months ((crazy))) sis in law. maybe they will take pitty and give us onr in the 100 loop!!!!!!

OK, as promised, I checked this out, and have a report.

First, how about some photos of these two cabins for the folks that don't know about them?

On the 100 loop, which is otherwise a preferred camping loop, two of the sites, 118 and 120, are occupied by cabins, which are identical to the cabins found on the cabin loops (which are the 2100-2800 loops). What would make these cabins desirable is that they are in the loop closest to the Marina and Pioneer Hall. The other cabins are quite a distance from here.

Here is what they look like:

This is a view of the cabins from the sidewalk which goes behind the 100 loop. This is how folks drive their golf carts down to the Marina. In this photo, Cabin 118 is on the left, and Cabin 120 on the right.

This is Cabin 118. The porches of these Cabins face each other, and there is a nicely landscaped area between the two Cabins. This means that Cabin #120 actually has its floor plan reversed from all of the other FW Cabins.

This is Cabin 120

This is the picnic table and grill area of Cabin 120. Note the nice stone fire place. None of the other cabins at the Fort have this, and the picnic tables are placed on their decks.

A closer look at 120's fire place.

Instead of picnic tables on the porch, these cabins have rocking chairs. Nice!

Here is the view from the grill area of #120 looking toward the Marina:

So what is the story on these cabins?

I found a knowledgeable cast member at the Reception Outpost. After discussing a few things with him, he seemed to know what he was talking about, so I asked him about the 100 loop cabins. He said that they were built to be used by Company executives and VIP's. About 50% of the time, they are booked by someone high up in the Disney Corporation, and the Fort is just told about it. However, if the cabins are not booked, and a guest arrives and asks for one, it is possible to be assigned there. They cannot be reserved ahead of time, and they don't assign them to non VIP's very often, even if asked.

The cast member said that if I ever see anyone in the cabin, I might want to take a close look. He said that a famous movie director and his family stayed there, and that to his knowledge no one ever noticed. He would not tell me who- he just said that it was someone who wears a hat. What do you think- Ron Howard? That is what I think.

So, that's the story on the cabins.
