We are going back to Disneyworld ! Last time was 2009 and we stayed at CSR. Loved it! One of the biggest reasons was transportation to the parks.

We are going June 2019 and I have already began the planning process. This time there well be 10 of us (including my parents whom one is wheel chair bound) My father wants deluxe but the rest of us are thinking moderate. We hope to be able to use the military discount rate if it’s renewed!

So now that you have a bit of a back story I am all ears for suggestions, concerns or any ideas, on where we should stay.

Top wants : Easy handicap accessibility
Good food court/restaurant
Best bus routes to parks
(Especially to MK).

I would also post this on the disability thread to ask for advice. I would choose WL for the group. Nicer than a moderate less expensive than most deluxe. Everything in one building for ease of wheelchair access to services. I rank WL as some of the best bus service we have had on multiple trips. The bus the MK is faster than the boat and I don't think most of the boats to MK will roll on wheelchair you would have to transfer. Not sure when the new tower for CSR will be finished but with everything under one roof that would be a good option I would think. Having traveled with someone with a disability I would not stay at the moderate or values at Disney with the current set up. I would choose a resort with everything under one roof with easy access to dining and other amenities. AK, BC, YC, or BWI would also work but the Epcot resorts IMO are limited for quick service dining if that is important.

The Contemporary has a walkway to MK with its own security station. For handicap accessibility, not having to deal with the bus and getting to go through a less crowded security line might be worth it.

I will post it over there as well! Thank you! WL sounds like it might please everyone. I will take a look! Thank you!

I'd look at Port Orleans French Quarter. Smaller, quiet, relaxing resort. Good food. 10 minutes from the bus leaving MK to arriving at the gate.

Unless you want to spring for deluxe, it's a great choice.
I have heard the PoFQ is a good option because it’s smaller. Thanks for the reply!

I'd rent points at BLT (DVC side of Contemporary resort).
I was going to suggest that too! But to be fair, DVC rentals give you amazing locations at budget prices- they don't give you the same level/feel of luxury as a deluxe hotel. If this is a once-every-10-years vacation, I would spring for the deluxe hotel and enjoy myself.

I stayed at the Contemporary last Sept and got stuck there for Irma. I walked over to BLT to check it out at one point and I felt like walking into BLT from the Contemporary was like walking into a (nice) motel. I would absolutely stay at BLT over the Contemporary next time, but we go about once a year. Also- in June you probably won't have to worry about this, but when Irma came we were locked down to our hotels. The BLT and Contemporary garden wing guests had to buy enough non-perishable food and water to keep in their rooms for 24 hours. The Contemporary A-frame guests got to eat hot food at the different restaurants for a significant discount. We ate breakfast at Chef Mickey's and dinner at The Wave for $15/each. My husband was incredibly glad we had decided to stay in the A-frame.

If you have to do Moderate, I would choose POFQ. That is our favorite Moderate by far. We love the small size and the atmosphere is fantastic.

If you are considering Deluxe, I think the Contemporary would be a good option since it's so close to MK. The only deluxe we have stayed at is AKL and we were not impressed so I can't recommend that one. We always prefer to stay Moderate or Value to save money, but are considering renting points for the first time next year. Maybe that could be an option to help you stay at a Deluxe?

I was also there for Irma, but had a different perspective. I loved being in a 1BR with a fully stocked kitchen. We just hunkered down and didn't have to leave our room for anything. We ate extremely well and didn't have to feel cooped up in one room.

My DH and I are so spoiled staying in 1 BR DVC units that we usually stay in suites even when we are not at Disney. It's also why we keep a 2BR/2BA condo in New Orleans so we don't have to stay in hotel rooms. When we are traveling by car and only spend 1 night someplace of course it's just a room. My DH complains. I ignore him.
