Hi, everyone I am new to the board. My DH and I were married back in 2003 and we had originally planned on a Disney wedding. At the last minute we decided to have the wedding in our own state so that family could attend. I wish we would have stuck to our original idea, because it was way to much drama.

Our wedding anniversary was in June 2003 so we wanted to do a vow renewal on the same date in 2013.

We are looking at the memories package and we are unsure of what location to choose. My thinking is it might be way to hot to do the beach since it is in the end of June. We were leaning more towards Sunset Terrace, but I don't have enough information on either to finalize the decision. Is there anyone out there that has done both venues in the hot summer? Do you have pics that I could see?

We will not be having anyone at our ceremony except our 4 year old daughter and maybe her 19 year old sister.

Also, I we are planning on adding the photo package and I really, really want to get a pic of us with fireworks while we are kissing. Sounds crazy, but how can we make that happen?

Also, I have some other questions about details of the Memories package. Like can you choose a bouquet but change the colors of the flowers? Is the limo better than getting the in room celebration? What comes in the spa basket for in room celebration? Has anyone gone to dinner outside of Disney Parks in their wedding attire, like at Downtown Disney? When adding the photo package how does that work for pics? Do you go before the wedding and do pictures or after or both? Sorry for all the questions. I would ask a coordinator but we cannot book until December and I am anxious to find out.

Thanks for all the help.

We are planning an escape, but I thought I would try to help a bit.

I think if you're concerned about the heat Sunrise Terrace would be a good option, as you would be just outside the hotel and it is a bit shaded depending on the time of day. We were originally planning our ceremony there until our guest list increased. It is really a beautiful spot.

As for the fireworks: I would suggest possibly contacting an outside photographer if you just want fireworks pics. I know Randy Chapman has taken photos of brides by the marina during wishes. If you're just wanting photos in your dress with fireworks, this might be an affordable way to get those photos.

Thanks so much for the reply, I was beginning to think no was going to answer my questions. LOL We are starting to think the location is the best choice for us. DH is wearing his Tux and I am wearing a more formal gown. We were going to do the bridal portraits inside MK but after the stories we have heard about the photographers we feel we shouldn't waste the money. We are planning on hiring an outside photographer for the VR and have them do our pictures around the resorts. I really want the fireworks shot, so I want to make sure the vendor photographer knows. After listening to the podcast about the memories collection it did help with a lot of the questions I had.

I guess the only question I need answered now is will the DW photographer show up to take pics along with the vendor photographer? I feel he should since it is included in the package, but I have heard that they do and they don't. Anyone know for sure?

Thanks,
Sc

Disney won't allow their photographer to be a secondary photographer. I am not sure if they have a swap option for the memories collection, but I know the escape package has a couple of options if you choose to use an outside photographer.

We had our memories VR in Feb, and we had Randy as our photographer. If you want an outside photographer, you forfeit the photography included in the package. They did not give us a 'swap' for it.

If you have any other questions you can always PM me :)

Here is what my husband is saying. He does not like the idea of us forfeiting our photo package. He says why not let Disney do the photos of the wedding and then after Randy can come in and take the pics around the resorts.
Has anyone done this? It makes me a little nervous.

I have a TON of pix of Sunrise Terrace posted here: http://disneytravelbabble.com/disney-weddings/wdw-venue-photos/sunrise-terrace/

Yes. Often people who must use Disney photography for their event (like if it's included or if they're doing an event inside a park, where outside photographers are prohibited) hire an outside photographer for other aspects of their day, whether it's a resort dessert party or a bridal/just-married portrait session. If you do a search for engagement photos you should turn up a lot of threads with sample photos. :thumbsup2

There are some dates sunset terrace is not avalible because the weather is prohibitively hot. You might want to check on that Do you have pics that I could see?

I believe so, but there will probably be an upcharge Is the limo better than getting the in room celebration? That is up to you. I will say that you can use the limo whenever you want, but it has to be for 3 continuous hours, you can't break it up What comes in the spa basket for in room celebration? I believe its this http://www.disneyflorist.com/product/disneyfloralandgifts-waltdisneyworldflorist-Disney-Celebration-Romance-Mickey-Minnie-Anniversary-Engagement-Honeymoon-Rose/display Has anyone gone to dinner outside of Disney Parks in their wedding attire, like at Downtown Disney? Yes this is absolutely possible. DTD or any of the resorts When adding the photo package how does that work for pics? Do you go before the wedding and do pictures or after or both? Both. Usually before with the couple and after with the family. Same as normalSorry for all the questions. I would ask a coordinator but we cannot book until December and I am anxious to find out.

[Responses in red. Also, I would highly, highly reccommend getting Carrie's passporters guide to disney weddings. It will answer all of the questions you're looking for (and maybe save you some cash, or at least let you know about any hidden expenses you may incur) http://www.passporter.com/weddings.asp

Here's pic of our ceremony at Luau Beach - it was July - and YES IT WAS HOT-HOT-HOT -headache: but for us (since we both love the beach) it was the option we went with - and it was beautiful..... you can see the sweat on hubby's neck/shirt - LOL.... Sorry about the picture sizes - I've never re-sized them properly - but you get the idea....

Unless they've changed, the Memories packages are only offered on certain days of the week and at certain times - so it might not be possible to get the "fireworks kiss" photo......we used the photos with the package - and then added a DHS photo shoot (it was a lot of fun....):dance3:

We used the limo and enjoyed it very much - and I just kept the color the bouquet as was so not sure about the charge for change to color (wouldn't hurt to ask though)......have fun with your planning - and congrats on the VR:goodvibes

Thanks so much everyone! I just ordered the e-book and it has helped a lot. I do want to find out what dates they do not all use of ST. That is so crazy to me. I mean they will do the beach but not ST at Wilderness Lodge. Anyone happen to know the dates it is closed? Please let me know.

Just to add, you CAN'T change the flower colors. We tried that, even offered to pay extra and were flat out told no. The best we had was one color for the flowers and a second color for the ribbon.

Hope that helps!

I think there was a misunderstanding—Sunrise Terrace has never had restrictions. Sunset Pointe at the Polynesian used to be unavailable from May to October due to the heat, but they have since lifted the restriction. If you're crazy enough to wanna be out there in the summer heat, they'll let you! :rotfl:

Although I will be of zero help to you... we are doing the same thing for the same reason! We keep joking that now that we are older, we'll be able to have the wedding that *WE* want- not inviting anyone but our little girl! You have a lot of the same questions as me too!

Sorry I couldn't help, but good luck with all your planning and everything!

I went to ohanas in my gown. Husband was not in tuxedo though. It was fun. I believe you are not allowed in parks with wedding attire unless with Disney photographer.
