10-year-old who HATES Disney - HELP!!!!

I hope that all went well when you told her and that you had a positive response!

I just had to share a moment that I had with my DD (age 11).

Some background on her; she was born with spina bifida, uses a wheelchair and has developmental disabilites (she is mentally about 4 or 5 yrs old)

Our last trip to Disney was Thanksgiving 2006. We have been planning our next trip for May/June 2009 since then. Every day, she tells me that she loves Disney. She asks when we are going. She then asks me who is going. So, I list everyone. I tell her, "you, Becca, me, Gram, Roy, Alexis, Uncle Leonard, Uncle Wes, Rena, Alyssa, Aunt Gaby, and Josh." Well, one day when I finish telling her this she asks me, "what about Uncle Norman (Aunt Gaby's husband)?? I tell her that he does not like Disney. She takes a few seconds to think about this. Then she gets a very confused face :confused3 and asks me, "What do you Mean he don't like Disney??".

She truely could Not comprend that AnyOne could Not like Disney.

I laughed :rotfl2: so hard at her reaction (and the look on her face was priceless). I told her that I don't understand either.

To this day, she still asks me if Uncle Norman still doesn't like Disney. :)

Well, my niece thinks she is VERY FUNNY.

This whole time she has been messing with us, getting us to think she hates Disney.

"I love Disney!" she said.

My mother-in-law sent her an e-card yesterday with Crush and told her she was going to Disney World and on a Disney Cruise. My niece claims to have "fainted," she was so excited.

They spent over an hour together on the Disney website, looking at all the fun they were going to have.

Then my husband and I came over for dinner and there in the kitchen, my niece was decorating a "Mickey Cake" for dessert!

We watched the Planning DVD and it got her even more excited.

And do you know what she said? DO YOU KNOW WHAT SHE SAID?!?!

She wants to dress up like Tinker Bell when we go.

My heart soared. :goodvibes

We played Disney Scene It and she exercised her knowledge of Disney movies. Then, believe it or not, she and I watched "Melody Time," which is a Disney movie I haven't seen since I was very young. We laughed at it the whole time! Especially the part with "Little Toot" the tugboat. My niece kept "passing gas" all evening and we nicknamed her Little Toot!!!!

So my niece is OK in my book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are going to have a GREAT TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't wait!!! 74 days left!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAHAHAHAHA!! Glad it all worked out for you! My oh my...she had you guys goin! :rotfl: :goodvibes

Why did she tell you that she hates Disney? Did she know you were planning a trip? Is it just a crazy coincidence??

That's wonderful! She is going to have so much fun in the planning!

I had a feeling she might be pulling your foot when you saw her Disney bag. Wow, I feel really happy she likes Disney, is that weird? Hehe. :D

Have fun on your trip! :D

was the Universal one "If I have to hug one more princess...!!" You all know the one. I find lots of kids are not into the whole Disney Channel Hannah Montana - Princess part of Disney. That does not mean she won't like going to WDW, just means don't book CRT!!! If you look at WDW as a great theme park vacation destination and not "Disney" per se, she'll probably have fun.

just a long shot, but is your niece used to travelling and staying in hotels and going to places she is not sure of, how confident is she in meeting new people and new sleeping places so to speak, the reason i ask this is our son who is now 23 was always very unhappy and argumentitive for about a week before we would go anywhere and for abouy 2 days when we arrived, infact the first time we went to disneyworld they were 12 and chris was so rude and confrontational when we arrivewd i lost my temper with him and he ran into the bathroom and locked himself in, i just ignored him but my mum was so upset she talked him out and for a couple of days he stuck close to her he even slept in the other bed in her room rather than be with us. Even now if he comes on holiday with us he is unsettled but now i know why.He only told us about six years ago that he feels very insecure for a whlie when he leaves home and thats how it shows by being very insecure and not wanting to be there, he even now takes something from home with him, could it be that your neice might be the same that's why she says she does'nt want to go not to disney, but to leave her familier surroundingfs, sugest she takes her fav, thing with her
