I was wondering if you ladies would think this is too much for a 10 year Anniversary.

I was looking into going to Disney for our 10th anniversary, and of course I started thinking about doing something a little extra for the occasion. That extra has grown. Tell me what you think and if you think it's reasonable.

The Grand 1 yacht hold 16 guests (plus captain and butler). If we were to have 16 people for two hours ($1042) to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks along with hot/cold hors d'oeuvres and assorted desserts ($650), 4 pizza pies for 4 kids (and picky adults - $88), bottled water (20 bottles, $65), iced tea (5 4-person servings, $40), lemonade (5 4-person servings, $60), 3 bottles of Veuve Cliquot champagne ($225), 2 bottles of Riesling ($80), 2 bottles of Pinot Grigio ($80), 2 bottles of Merlot ($100), 2 bottles of Shiraz ($100) and cake ($60). Grand total with tax, gratuities and butler fee would be estimated at $3,400. I checked last years fireworks times at the Magic Kingdom for the same time of year and they would go off at 9 so I figure start the cruise at 8 PM??

Now thinking about this really got the wheels turning and I need to know how much a ceremony at the pavilion would cost (Friday evening around 6'ish). What is a good price for a photographer for about 4 hours (6-10, for ceremony, pics and cruise)?

Again, do you think this is too much for a 10th anniversary? Thanks in advance for your input!!:cheer2:

The only guideline for what is "too much" is what YOU and your family are comfortable with!!

If you have the means, I think your plans sound LOVELY. And 10 years is a big deal! Definitely worth celebrating, however you are happy celebrating!

If you're thinking vow renewal, sounds like you may want to consider the escape package. I can't remember if you said when your anniversary was, but the current pricing for an escape wedding in the wedding pavilion is $5750 (includes taxes and service charges; also includes your bouquet and a boutinniere for your spouse, a violinist, a cake, limo for 4 hours, and a Disney photographer for 2 hours, along with a few other things).

If you haven't yet, I strongly suggest you purchase Carrie Hayward's Passporter's Guide to Disney Weddings and Honeymoons. It's chock full of information and frequently updated (if you purchase the ebook, you get all future updates for free!). She's the resident expert around her, and the book is AMAZINGLY informative.

Good luck and enjoy your anniversary!!!

Brooke

Thank you for the idea! Right now I'm really in love with the idea of a fireworks cruise and I'm not sure if the vow renewal does that. Do they give you options? I want to get pricing before I even speak to my husband or anyone at Disney for that matter. I'd like to get my hens in a row before presenting this to him. The more information I have, the more likely he'll go for it. Codes the book have estimates?

Thanks again.

I was going over the prices for the Escape & Memories packages last night and found these answers this morning.

Now I wonder if I can just do a plain VR without a package at the Pavilion and then do the cruise on my own afterward.

If you're considering Memories or Escape, the only way you'd have to worry about meeting minimums is if you chose Escape with a ceremony on a Saturday or Sunday or if you added a private catered event to it. Otherwise, the fact that a cruise doesn't count toward DFTW's minimum doesn't matter... you'll still have to pay for the cruise separate from the vow renewal package.

The cheapest way to have an official Disney's Fairy Tale Wedding is to do the Memories Collection, but the Wedding Pavilion is not one of the three locations used—you would have to do an Escape event for that. Ceremony locations are not available "a la carte" unless you do a Wishes Collection event with reception, which starts at $12,000.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Lurky! I would most likely do it on a Friday night somewhere other than the pavilion because I would want a late afternoon ceremony.

One other question, if the package includes a limo, would you be able to trade that for extra hours of photography or something else?

With Memories you can swap the limo for an in-room celebration gift basket. With Escape the only thing you can do is use the limo time during another part of your trip. :thumbsup2

We are doing a huge vow renewal for our 10th in November. Over a 3 day weekend, we have 7 events planned. We have about 35 people coming. All of the details are in my planning journal.
