10% target gift card deal worth it?

I'm halfway between LAX and Shanghai and I have Internet access through the airlines wifi and can get on the Target web site and see the one item in my cart, which is a $300 Target gift sertificate. I've tried clicking on the cart but get a message that I am not allowed to access that secured site through this server. I guess that Chinese Internet blocks it. I arrive in Chiangmai Mai Thailand with about an hour left on the sale. I Gus's that I'll find out if I have any better luck there.

I don't think "online shopping" is a cashback category this year - Mine says: Amazon, department stores and sam's club

Bummer - thought it still was. Still worth the $30+ regular cashback bonus 99% of my online shopping is Amazon, so I probably never thought of it!

Are you sure Discover considers Target a department store? I know Chase does not & thought Discover defined a department store as having multiple resisters within individual departments (like Macy's). I would love to be wrong!

Thought it did, but I didn't really investigate - bummer if it's not, but $10 either way wasn't swaying my plan too much

Ugh. I don't know whether I should take a leap of faith on this or not. I'm not a big Target shopper, though, I'm sure I could find $300 worth of stuff to buy if I had to. There is a Target 5 minutes from my house, so maybe worth a shot to see if it would work in the store?

FYI -- Just bought six $300 gift cards from target using the self serve checkout. Did separate transactions with a different credit card for each one. Manager came over on my last one and told me that there was a three card limit and that I could not do anymore.

I tried converting one of the $300 cards to disney gift card a few minutes later, but the Target card did not seem to be loaded yet. I'm guessing it takes several hours?

*Edit -- gift cards purchased today won't be activated/loaded until tomorrow.

seems like Target is still under Black Friday sales because every rule in the book is thrown out...
tried to pricematch a humidifier and they say no pricematching until after the 4th. Went down the street walmart to buy it instead...

Our Target and on line specifically says no use of the purchased today gift cards until 10 Central Time tomorrow, 12/5. Just in case some of y'all are early birds like I usually am!

You can try. I'm not familiar with Discover Deals but if the worst that happens is when you get to checkout the promo won't show so then don't purchase? Fwiw, the same deal showed up in a PayPal a couple years ago & within a few days Target shut the whole thing down and when it came back the gift card exclusion had been added and was enforced. *sigh* Those were a couple great days to be buying gift cards!

FYI - I went back to Target today with my Target gc and bought Disney gc with no problem! That was an easy way to save but I only did one because I was nervous it wouldn't work. Now I wish I had purchased more! Maybe they'll do it again before our trip.

I am in NY and was able to purchase $600 in Disney GC's with the Target cards I bought yesterday.
