Just made a ps for Shula's, and was wondering:

Since the menu is ala carte, does the $10 plate sharing fee apply to the sides and appetizers? DH and I will each order our own entree (and maybe dessert), but will probably share an appetizer or side dish, as I understand their portions are quite large. Will we be charged $10 for doing this?

No, they actually encourage you to share the sides and appetizers.

We actually split a steak as well, and weren't charged a sharing fee. We wondered if ti was becaues we also ordered alcohol, appetizers and dessert, plus a side. We would have had no problem paying it of course, but weren't complaining when it wasn't charged :)

Our family of 5 wasn't charged either. We had appetizers, and desserts as well.

Thank you both for replying. I couldn't imagine they'd charge a fee for sharing sides.

What about sharing with children? Is the 10.00 fee the same? We would love a good steak and DS has great taste in the kind of steak he likes but there is no way he could eat even a moderate size steak. He and I always share. I will pay this of course but just wondered if since there is not a children's menu as far as I understand, if sharing with children is allowed. DS is 10.

I think they have that "Policy" so that they CAN charge it when they feel it's warranted...a couple comes in, orders nothing but the least expensive meal on the menu and drinks water or soda. In that case they would probably impose the charge.

Jordan's mom, I think it would depend on your party. If it were jsut the two of you and you didn't order sides and desserts, then my bet is taht you would be charged. If your party is two adults plus a child and you order appetizers, sides, alcohol, dessert, and split your steak with your child, then probably it wouldn't be charged.

We looked at it this way--we'd rather be charged the $10 fee to split than pay for two meals at $30+ each, and waste a lot of it.

When we visited two weeks ago the manager said they don't charge the fee to children,
