Gander Mountain has 10% off EVERYTHING (in all caps no less), except:

Excludes ice fishing augers, ice fishing houses, and ice fishing electronics.
Excludes merchandise from the following brands: 5.11 Tactical, Adidas, Anhu, Arait, Aquaglide, Baffin, Blackhawk, Byerly, Carhartt, CDI, Columbia, Costa Del Mar, Crocs, Danner, Drake Waterfowl, Durango, Foxpro, Frogg Toggs, Filson, Guy Harvey, HO, Hyperlite, Irish Setter, Keen, Kuhl, KAVU, LaCrosse, Life is Good, Liquid Force, Maui Jim, Marmot, Merrell, Mountain Hardwear, Muck Boot, Native, New Balance, Oakley, O'Brien, Outdoor Research, Patagonia, Pelagic, Rave, Reebok, Reef, Rocky, ScentBlocker, Scent lok, Sorel, Sperry, Spy, Spyder, The North Face, Thermacell, Tilley, Timberland, Timberland Pro, Under Armour, Vasque, Wiley X, Wolverine, and Yeti.

How do they get away with that? Doesn't "EVERYTHING" mean every single item? Shouldn't they say "10% off A COUPLE OF ITEMS"?

I see this at other places too. Generally the excluded items are the only things I want to buy. Bugs me too.:headache:

I use to get annoyed at the mall when in a store like Macy's and a big sign says 40% off so I find some items I might like. Then I got to the register and found out it was only if you had a Macy's card and put the items on the Macy's card. I do not desire any department store credit card so I just had to start paying closer attention to the signs. It's disappointing at first glance then looking closer to find I won't get those discounts because I refuse to open a CC.

The most frustrating store is Old Navy. Almost every time I shop there for my kids I get caught. The one example I can remember is all shirts on this table are 50%off except the blue ones weren't. It's very hard to find out what is or not on sale as the signs are not clear. Trust me after the first time I check all signs. I did not shop there for the longest time.
My daughter got money for clothes for her Birthday and that's where she wanted to shop. Everything she picked out I asked the price of before saying she could buy. Yep some were the stated sale, some in the same spot were not. I just refuse to shop there now.

I'm working there as a second job right now. Just an FYI, the bar code we use in store is ringing up EVERYTHING 10% off........ Not sure if it's a glitch of if the exclusions are just for online purchases.

Please know that for most of those brands, it's not Gander who is setting the rules for the exclusion of the discount, it's the manufacturer. 511 is horrible about discounting. I don't even think we are allowed to clearance their stuff.

Abercrombie does this a lot too. In their case, "except jeans" is usually one of the exclusions. Ummm...then it's not EVERYTHING, not even close.

I've actually contemplated reporting the issue to our state Attorney General. I believe it is false advertising.

I realize this, but the stores know when this is the case then it's not everything that's on sale. The problem isn't really that some things aren't on sale, it's that the store says EVERYTHING is.

Same thing at Dicks sporting goods. Excluded brands include nike, adidas, under armour, reebok, north face. yeah, Ok

See this more and more.

I got an email about "at least 25% off throughout the site" from Petco this weekend. When I went into the actual online store to look, there were all sorts of discounts from 5% to 50%. Of course things I might have bought were no where near 25% off. (I have a rabbit and we rarely get discounts on small animal stuff).

Another example is Shoebuy. 25% off on our site. But, it always excludes the brands I want to buy. And then I found out they no longer carry Avia shoes and I need a new pair. Argh.

When I was shopping for our City Mini stroller, I got so excited when I recieved a Babies R Us coupon in the mail for something like 20-30% off, only to realize it strictly excluded Baby Jogger products.

Now Im in the market for a Joovy Caboose and hoping for some kind of deal, hopefully it's not excluded if I find a sale.

To the OP- 10% off at Gander Mountain just makes it normal price anywhere else doesn't it? Their prices seem high to me.
