10-Oct-2009 - Eastern Magic St. Croix

Here's our port schedule:
Sat - Port Canaveral
Sun - Sea
Mon - Sea
Tues - St Croix
Wed - St Thomas
Thur - Sea
Fri - Castaway
Sat - Port Canaveral

Here's the excursions my wife and I booked:
Palo Dinner - Monday night 8pm
Carambola Beach - St Croix
St John Mini Boat - St Thomas
Parasail - Casataway

We've done the jetski at Castaway and it AWESOME. This time we're gonna try parasailing for the first time.

I have not done my research for St. Croix, is Carambole Beach nice. Why have you pick that? Are you going on your own of as an excursion?

We always go to Megan Bay, on our own.

I would be intrest in what the recommendations are for St. Croix. Does anyone have links to trip reports?

I know that I have read several post that say Cane Beach or Rainbow Beach is a REALLY good beach to do on your own. Cab far is about 8-10 per person each way. Both Cane Beach and Rainbow are rated in St. Croix top 10 beachs, the beach at Carambole is not rated.
As far as excurtions go my family and I are going to do horse back riding through Paul and Jills it is $90.00 per person and tours the rainforest, orchards and beach.

Us too!!! We are going to MNSSHP as well that night! Cool.

Haven't booked resort yet but a thinking Carribean Beach Resort. Where is everyone staying?

How cool looks like there will be a few of us there that night, it should be tons of fun.

We will be at Animal Kingdom Kidani 1 night before the cruise and 7 nights following the cruise.

We are DVC members and Animal Kingdom Kidani is one of our home resorts. I have not been there yet but I am SO looking forward to it. Our room will have a view of the savanna.....so my kids are super excited. Anyone have a first hand experience with Kidani??

We are skipping MNSSHP but we are spending that day at my favorite park...EPCOT!!!

I have to say, I have only stayed on-property once, and then it was the Beach Club. We loved it, so that is where we are staying on Friday night. Of course, it is too expensive for me to stay more than one day, so we are at Pop Century on Thursday night.

We've always stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter when we've stayed on site...which as been 3 times. We love it there but are going to be adventourous and try something new this time. I woudn't mind the Pop resorts a bit but since DCL doesn't do transfers from there, we don't want to move resorts on the 2nd night...and we are staying 2 nights.

I think we've decided on Carribean Beach resort...the kids are exited about the pirate themed room and the pirate ship at the pool. Hope it turns out well. We are def doing a Moderate due to budget.

The Dolphin & Swan look appealing...I forgot...we did stay there one night post cruise..but they don't offer Magical Express.

Just booked our pre-cruise hotel!! Settled on Springhill Suites in the Marriott Village. Got a pretty good deal and free transportation to WDW for Friday...when we attend MNSSHP! Just booked those tickets as well!! :woohoo::woohoo:

I wouldnt let the DCL transportation get in the way of where you want to stay. Although the ANIMAL KINGDOM KIDANI offers DCL transportation we usually book it seperatly, and get our own car service / limo. Last year we paid $5.00 more then the DCL transportation was going to charge us and got our own ESCALADE ESV RT to cruise port and back to resort, this also included a free stop to a grocery store if we wanted. I loved not having to worry about how long DCL would take to get us to the port, we were able to arrange our own pick up and drop off time.

And, completely off-topic, my DD(16) has entered a couple of her favorite photographs in Brickfish's 'My Favorite Photo (I've Ever Taken)' contest, competing for a $1000 scholarship. You can vote once every 8 hours until August 12th, 2009, per photo. Rachel would greatly appreciate your support! Please vote often!!

This picture was taken along the route to Waimea Canyon on Kauai and is of a stream trickling through Kauai's infamous brick red dirt:

This picture was taken at a 4th of July barbeque. The kids had been dumping water on the adults, which developed into a full-scale war. We think this was taken as Rachel dodged water being thrown from a bowl or bottle. Or it could have been one of the snowballs made from the hockey rink ice shavings used to cool the beer.

I think we're going to go to Unversal Saturday and Sunday after the cruise. I had convinced myself for about an hour yesterday that I wanted to spend 2 days at WDW but didn't find anything that would thrill the DS and DH. I find a lot at Universal I think they would enjoy. I think it's fair to take them there since DD and I have convinced them to go to MNSSHP. ;)

Oh I am jealous of all of you who get to extend your vacation! I have only been to Universal Studios once, and we had a great time. I think that your ds and dh will have a wonderful time.

Hey Denise

We've added our family to the spreadsheet.....But I'm a bit blurry on what it is all about.

Thanks for the feedback on excursions.........I completely got lost in the rush of summer with the kids & forgot DIS wouldn't send me replies by email!

Hey all cruisers

Just wondering if anyone else is also spending some play time at the World before going on the cruise.

We only travel out East every couple of years so when we go, we go big!

Getting close.....getting excited! Wheeeeeeee!!!!!:woohoo:

Karen,

I am glad that you added to the roll call! This is just a list of DIS cruisers who will be cruising together. I believe that there has been talk of some meets and such.

The FE is a "Fish Extender" gift exchange. You hang a pouch or bag from the fish hook outside your door and every once in a while you come back to find a surprise from other DISers in your bag. I think that it will be a lot of fun to participate in, and I have come up with some little things that I think are kind of fun to add to the bag. You don't have to spend a lot of $$ to participate, as I think FE gifts run from homemade things like small scrapbooks, candy, pens/highlighters, cruise "emergency kits", and pretty much anything else you can think of. There are several threads on the DCL board that describe FE and what it is all about. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1219607 http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1774643
