10-Oct-2009 - Eastern Magic St. Croix

And customer service -- a joke.
I completely agree. They were fine so long as you didn't need anything out of the ordinary, but if they had to go an extra inch beyond that, they just didn't. They really frustrated us with their "so-what" attitudes, especially from the front desk.

One evening we wandered into the buffet before it was officially open (although the doors were open) and saw two workers relaxing at a table before their shift. They looked surprised, both jumped up to attention, and then told us that they weren't open and we couldn't go through to the other door where my DD was waiting for us. We had to go up one deck, down the hall, back down a deck, and then backtrack to the opposite door. What a PITA. They just acted so guilty, I got the impression that they were supposed to be doing something else and we "caught" them loafing when they shouldn't be.

Our stateroom was reasonably clean, but the balcony was filthy, with cigarette butts everywhere in addition to the dirt.

...We've all decide we're going to get down and kiss the Magic's decks when we board in October :rotfl2:
I hear ya!

I haven't posted in a while, I have been busy!

We booked this cruise when I was pregnant with our first child.
I am happy to announce that our little cruiser has finally arrived!

She arrived on 2/09/09. princess:

Welcome to the new cruisers, we look forward to meeting you all!

Oh, I forgot about the balcony -- when you walked in, you could not see out the sliding glass door the glass was so filthy. WE had to wipe it down. I've NEVER seen that kind of filth on Disney -- if anything, the balconies are always wet from when they hosed them down.

Did you also notice how dirty everyone looked -- we had some waiters with long greasy hair in a pony tail, their shirts wrinkled and not completely tucked in. And you're right about attitude -- that's what my husband meant about not wanting to get back onboard -- if they weren't acting like they hated it there, they were treating you like you were a bother!

I am so excited about this cruise that I have started working on making FE gifts!

I have a couple of questions for you guys. If you have already addressed them, I am sorry. Ok, here goes: How are we planning on doing this? Are we talking about doing gifts for adults and kids? Kids only? One per day or one gift for the week?

This is the first time I am participating in the exchange and I am biting at the chomp to get started.

Thanks!

The way we did it the last time was it was by cabin. So if the cabin had adults and kids, you did something that worked for both, if only adults then more adult oriented but remember we are all kids on Disney LOL. I think it is really up to you. Normally it is just one gift per cabin per cruise - but again, that is totally your choice. Last year I got a few little, little things and gave them out on top of my FE just so it was fun. I think it works best when its really open to your own ideas and interpretation!

Happy Easter, everyone! Getting ready to throw my ham in the oven. This is the first time I've cooked an Easter holiday meal. I'm nervous. :-)

Was wondering if anyone is planning to go to MNSSHP the night before our cruise??

Alright, I admit I am a bit slow, but I can usually figure these things out. JDBlair, you have me stumped!!! What is MNSSHP????:confused3

JDBlair, I hope that your ham turned out well. It is hard to mess up ham, but the last time I made one, I dried it out. This year, I grilled a turkey. It was quite yummy!!!! Now, it's nap time for the family and then we are playing board games this evening.

I hope that everyone had a Happy Easter!

Happy Easter!!!

MNSSHP = Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party

So that's the Friday before we cruise? I guess that counts MK being open late to everybody except the partiers willing to shell out the extra $$. Hmm. Time to make a Plan B...

Thanks! I never would have figured that one out on my own.

We are heading to Epcot on Friday for the day/evening. I love Epcot and all things in it.

From what I can tell, MNSSHP will be Friday, Oct 9th and yes, that's the night before our cruise. I'm still on the fence on if we'll go or not. I read a great TR over the weekend and they attended the MNSSHP and from the sounds of it, it was a lot of fun.

I have never been to any of the Disney World parks. I have been to Disneyland multiple times - I love Disneyland!

I enjoy Disneyland, but I love Epcot. IMO Epcot is a bit more like California Adventure but the world section is all its own and definitely worth the trip. I think MK is so vey similar between Disneyland and Disneyworld that it doesn't seem like the treat it should be after a trip across the country. Don't get me wrong, I would enjoy MK, but if I could choose, I would choose Epcot every time!

I grew up with Disneyland and it's in my heart. MK is still my favorite WDW park with MGM coming in second. Still, I'm not willing to buy a regular park hopper and then have to buy another ticket to see MNSSHP.

We go to MNSSHP every year. I am in AZ and we always visit Epcot and MGM with a park ticket. We do not go the MK with a daily ticket. We buy the $40.00 MNSSHP ticket and you can get in with that ticket at 4PM even though the party starts at 7PM. We hang out in Adventure land for an hour or so - lines are very short because people are leaving the park since they can not stay all night. At 6 we head to fantasyland and ride every ride there in an hour... Then we head to the back of the park at 7 for the MNSSHP fun and we can ride the entire park in that night and we do not need to go another time - it is cheaper than a daily ticket and a lot more fun - just know - the candy is there all night -DO NOT WAIT IN A CANDY LINE - ride a ride and come back later!!
They have a special fireworks and parade for th enight and the characters are out in costumes plus unusual characters are out that you rarely see - lke snow white with her 7 dwarfs....
OH - and this is our rest day - we do not enter a park in the morning - we swim at the hotel!

We weren't going to go to any of the DW parks while in Orlando because, and let the flames begin, I just have no desire. What is enticing me is the MNSSHP parade and fireworks. I was reading how awesome they are and really worth price of the ticket. :confused3

Those are great tips, Shirley! Are you guys going to MNSSHP the night before our cruise, as well? My thought was we'll take a late night flight to Orlando Thursday night. Rest Friday morning, maybe swim, and then maybe go to DTD early Friday afternoon. Then we can head over to MK for the MNSSHP. I like the idea of seeing the various characters, parades and costumes.

I am hoping to... My daughter has girls scout camp in the Grand Canyon on Mon. - Weds. so we can not fly in as early as usual and we may be tired but I really hate to miss it. We love going!

That's actually a really good plan, mind if I copy you?? :lmao: DH says he's good with it, and DD16 would like to go to MNSSHP since we've never done that party before. I haven't mentioned it to DD13 yet. We might do our swimming at one of the swim parks, depending on how cool or not cool the pool at Bay Lake Towers turns out to be.
