10-Oct-2009 - Eastern Magic St. Croix

The prices for the Mediterranean and Baltic are way out of my league, let alone comfort zone, even without the transatlantic airfare. And neither of the TA repositioning cruises are an option with school in full swing. I won't take my kids out for 2+ weeks.

Enjoy your cruise MJ!

Oh sure, throw the school thing in there!! The repo cruises sound awesome but absolutely not do-able for us. When DS graduates high school in 2012, there is hope we will take a family vacation to Europe. I would LOVE :lovestruc for that to be a DCL European vacation and with DCL going back for 2010, I'm hopeful they'll do it again in 2012. And God-willing, I will also graduate college in 2012!! :teacher:

Regarding the School thing, I lucked out, as Kirstyn should be in college in 2010 and school is done by the end of May! Kirstyn asked about a friend coming with us, and I said sure, as long as they have the money, as I'm not treating! I'll treat to a movie, but not a $3000+ cruise. I'm a little nervous though, as I switched to a cat 11 for the cruise. First time I've been in an inside cabin. Hope it isn't too dark!

I am in school myself, yes. :surfweb: My goal was to have my degree by the time I was 30. I didn't start working on my degree until I was 33. So, now my goal is to have my degree by the time I'm 37, when my son graduates high school. I better not be having "degree" goals when I'm 40!

I'm interested in the SM, sure. Is the Fish Extender something you have to do every day?? And...I guess I'm going to have to buy myself a Fish Extender thingy!

Nope normally you just do something in the fish extender once during the cruise and for SM, you can do that as often or little as you want :thumbsup2

DH and I are "back in school" as well - in fact at this moment I am procrastinating on my Managerial Finance quiz :teacher: :rolleyes1

Thanks Val... Already have it on my list. I'm thinking of bringing some of those battery operated push button ones. I plan on one by the bathroom, and one by the bed and one by the couch. Oh yeah, and plenty of batteries!!

Well, sign me up for the fishy things and the SM! I'll start checking Ebay for a Fish Extender. DH will just love that. (Sarcasm strongly noted there!)

I just finished up my assignments due today and tomorrow. Tomorrow is DD's b-day, she will be 5, so I had to work ahead a little so we can celebrate the b-day tomorrow with no interruptions. :woohoo:

Got you on the list :thumbsup2 funny thing is DH thought I was crazy when I was doing all that FE and SM stuff....that is until he saw the awesome things we received. Now his isn't looking at me quite as crazy, although I think he will always think I am a little nuts about it :lmao:

Good for you on your assignments! I finished one but am totally still procrastinating on the second one...being productive on the Dis instead :rotfl: Boy I tell you, coming back from the cruise it has been rough to get back in the swing of things!

:rolleyes1 this is a reallllly quiet thread....

Btw, since MJGirl will not be going, I have started keeping updates on post 531 - when we start the new thread we will move it over there ;)

Congrats to you for going back to school! I'm just beyond where you are now! I stayed at home and raised our boys. When our youngest went to 1st grade, I went back to college! Now, both our boys are in high school and I'm in Kindergarten!:teacher: I think it's great that both of you may graduate the same year! :thumbsup2

On the 'other cruise' topic: We had a cruise reserved for a different date hoping to move it to one of the new itineraries. That's not happening with the prices the way they are! Looks like I may be looking at a back to back along with this cruise! But it would mean taking our boys out of school for 2 weeks. It will be our oldest boy's senior year and possibly the last 'big vacation' for us. I'll let you know!

alleluia5-thanks for stepping up to take care of the business of our thread! Let me know if I can help with any of it!

I usually work ahead in my class but my courses started Monday and it's been a hectic week. I have deadlines with most of my assignments so I really hope to get a little ahead this weekend when there are fewer deadlines! :surfweb: I just finished a couple of assignments and I'm exhausted from my day/week/month and no rest in sight!

Thank you. I think it's pretty neat too, that we may graduate the same year, but I'm also concerned I may steal his thunder. Does that make any sense? I feel the pressure to graduate by 2012 so I can have a leg to stand on when I insist he immediately goes to college! :rolleyes1

You teach Kindergarten? We just enrolled our daughter in a private K program (of sorts) and she started Monday. She's struggling and they've already suggested removing her from the program! :headache: She is certainly smart enough but she just needs to get herself under control. I've asked the teachers to continue working with her and keep her in the program because I really think she can do it. Or..I really want her to do it. I don't want to be one of those mothers who is unrealistic in their expectations of their children. That's not fair to anyone. It's about this time I wish my children were given to me with crystal balls so i could know if I'm doing the right thing.

But I guess I'm off topic!

Yes, I teach Kindergarten at our neighborhood public school. If you just enrolled your daughter in a private program, the teachers should not be asking you to take her elsewhere! You are paying them to be patient with her and help her integrate! Give her some time, I'm sure she'll settle in! They all take a little time to find their comfort zone. Plus, they are still so little! I'll think happy thoughts her way!pixiedust:

It's okay to be off topic! That's how we'll get to know each other over the next year!

Hi All!

I'm popping in to let you know that we won't be joining you after all as we decided to book the 2010 EB Repo cruise. I actually wasn't planning to book anything, but I just couldn't resist when I saw the deal that was being offered! We're paying a total of just $682 more than we were paying for this cruise... for a cruise twice as long! We did switch from (2) Cat. 10s to (2) Cat. 11s to achieve a similar price. We were able to score a killer deal on airfare through DCL which really sealed the deal: $3763.89 RT for the 7 of us (or $537.70 per person) and that price includes transfers! I think I'm still in shock!

Have a super time next October and I hope to cruise with you in the future! pirate:

I agree - we have a whole year to chat about whatever!!! DH and I are working on our MBAs and boy I will tell you, its a challenge. This managerial finance class I have just may be the end of me. Accounting and I do not get a long

Hi Shel!

I'm only 1/2 way through your trip report, but I am loving it! I can't wait to finish it! You concentrate on your school work and I will finish reading!

Keep your chin up! Your girls only trip isn't too far off! I'm sure your sis will take good care of you!

Have a great weekend!

Have any of you ever done a back to back? We have kind of a dilema - I need to use another DCL deposit we already have and I'm thinking of either a 4 day Wonder Cruise the day after this one for all of us, or maybe sending the kids home on their own (they'll be 17 and almost 16) and then having DH and I take a Western directly after.

The TA that we had transferred our ressie to (I'm thinking this was a mistake) is trying to pressure me into an upper category and I want to keep it as affordable as possible so that I don't stress about the $.

:confused3

Thanks!! This is the first TR I have written so I wasn't sure how well I would do. I am kind of all over the place but I keep thinking of things I want to write about :lmao:

I am once again sitting here dreading/procrastinating on this class UGH - I cannot wait for it to be over! Good news is it will be over before my Nov cruise so I can actually enjoy it!

We haven't done one of these yet - but I think it would be so awesome! You should go for it. It would be so great to know that as everyone is getting off the ship, you get to get right back on! :cool1:

Boy oh boy, I miss reading this thread for a few days and I'm so far behind I can't believe it.:confused3 Work just keeps getting in the way of the most important things in life doesn't it!!!! :lmao: :rotfl2: I am sorry to hear that MJ Girl is leaving us. But, I can't blame her.............WOW a chance to go on one of the Disney Med cruises!!!!!!!!! That would be a once in a lifetime event for my house hold. :worship: ( I have to tell ya'll something here...................... ssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...............it's a secret. Can ya'll keep a secret..................well can you?!?!??? I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!!!!!ok....ok....ok... I booked us on the eastern repo cruise to the Med sailing in April 2010) The pricing was fantastic and we will get to see several ports along the way. I even got us a room with a veranda!!!:cool1: :thumbsup2
I understand we may be changing over to a new thread???? Please let me know when and what the new thread will be named.
Hey Tinkerbellmom1, I agree with alleluia5 to be able to do a back to back Disney cruise would be great. I have never done this either, but if I got the chance to do a back to back I most certainly would be booking it right away. We are going on a 3 day cruise on the Wonder in just about 10 days. We needed a Disney Cruise fix and we wanted to sail on the Wonder. So as a surprise birthday gift to DW and DGD I booked us this cruise.:dance3: Boy oh boy did I ever get the hugs and kisses from the both of them that day. Got to admit I'm pretty excited myself.:cool1:
Well........ I gots to go and do my workout on the elpical. That thing is a torture machine. But my doc tells me I need to excerise for the ol' ticker and to lose a few pounds.:scared1: Not that I am too over weight, he just wants me to lose a few. He said around 15 to 20 pounds. Next time I see him I think I'm going to slap him a couple of times for making me torture myself everyday on that thing. And, the wife is just as bad. See keeps laying this guilt trip on me when I try to get out of excerising.:guilty: :sad2: I hear the sound of my sweetie's voice calling me now to do my excercising. Man that voice grates on my nerves..........................I mean I love hearing my sweetie calling to me!!! Coming my love!!!! :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2:
Talk to ya'll again real soon!!!!
