10-Oct-2009 - Eastern Magic St. Croix

So.....how was Wall-E? I sure miss Disney films! My boys have become teenagers and haven't wanted to go since! I wait until the Disney movies come out on Starz and see them that way!

I completely know what you mean about the nappin' and the sleepin' late! I've been off for the past 6 weeks (I'm a kindergarten teacher!) and I have been sleeping late (when I can) and planning my activities around my naps! I return to work on Monday!:upsidedow

Well Sheri, Wall-E was of course GREAT. We wouldn't see these great films until they come out on pay-per-view if we didn't have our granddaughter to take us with her. She is 9 yrs old and is as big a Disney fan as her ol' Nana & Papa. (Well Nana is the old one of the group, me and Emily are just two great big kids!!!!!):lmao: :rotfl: :thumbsup2 :rotfl2: (And I am the biggest kid of them all!!!)

Well it's back to work for me and wify next Monday also.:scared: Sleepn' in will be over then until we go on our cruise in October. Can't wait for that one.

Well HAPPY JULy 4th to one and all.
Talk to you again real soon.:cheer2:

I would love ot see Wall-E as I am the cartoon lover in this house. I always rent the new animated movies for myself when I know I'll be home alone. DH and DS's watch ESPN and NFL non-stop.( fantasy football almost here...:worship: ) A girl doesn't have a chance in this house....lol

Good Morning!

Just popping in to say Hello and keep the thread going. Getting ready to take our new puppy to the groomer. No water aerobics today because of the holiday weekend :sad2:

Hope everyone one had a fun and safe 4th!

Wall-E looks cute. My fellas are pass the "cute" stage, I guess I'll wait for video to see it.

Back to school already? I take it your school district is year round.

My boys are way past the cute stage as well! I may be able to shame them into it if there is a movie when we are on the cruise, but at home....no way!

Yes, we live in an area that is (or was :scared: ) booming and all of the schools in our valley are multi-track year round. It gets some getting used to, but I love knowing I have October off for our cruise!

How wonderful for all of you to have each other! Lucky Emily!;) I've developed my own theory that God gave me teenage sons so that I would learn to let go of them a little and look forward to becoming a grandma!

DH and DS's watch ESPN and NFL non-stop.( fantasy football almost here...:worship: ) A girl doesn't have a chance in this house....lol

Same here! Only I'd have to add Ultimate Fighter and UFC to the ESPN, NFL and MLB. A girl can definitely feel outnumbered!

OMG...lol...I have said the something along those lines to DH. I am always telling him we will so be those grandparents who take the grandkids everywhere with us. When we went to Niagara Falls last month I commented on how many grandparent/grandkid combos we saw. I think its wonderful. ..

Our sons are very close to both sets of Grandparents and I know that is something not the norm, because of distance most of the time.

Not a factor here..one set lives 2 streets away and the other is a mile up the road..lol

Hi all ... My daughter and I went to see Wall-E last night. It was great! She doesn't mind being seen with me (when there is nothing better to do and I'm paying :lmao: that is). It is our tradition to go see the Disney movies together. All her friends know it. We usually go opening day, but couldn't make it last week because my Mother was visiting.

Hope everyone has a good weekend planned. I'm starting to get in serious planning mode for our August trip. This weekend, I want to start laying out stuff to pack. Bought my FE gifts on Thursday. Seemed like a lot of money, but there are over 100 cabins, so when I broke it down per cabin, it wasn't much. This cruise will be a blast, 15 days on the magic. I will be keeping a blog of the trip and will post the link in my signature in case you want to follow along .. (add to mental list of things to do .. create blog). Off to make lunch... I have to drive Kirstyn somewhere in an hour. I'll be glad when she gets her license (wait .. did I just say that :scared1: )

Take care!

How lucky for all of you! I know it can be a curse to some, but for those of us without our parents, we envy that relationship! Friends are our chosen family now!

We always tease one of our sets of friends by telling them, "When we grow up we want to be the Pachnik's!" because the grandparents are at every ball game and every birthday party and nearly every vacation! To us, it is wonderful!

We bought our DVC knowing that when our boys have children (long into the future we hope!;) ) we will be able to all travel together to our favorite places!

Speaking of friends, I had a girls day out with one of my girlfriends yesterday and I'm waiting for the phone call that she needs help booking her Disney Cruise! Their family has been putting it off, but I loaned her my Birnbaum's and my Passporter and I think they may be joining us!

I am so excited to hear about your upcoming cruise! I can't imagine having the luxury of being on the Magic for 15 days! I don't think you could pry me off at the end! I'll look forward to your blog and following along with your adventure!

Our oldest boy, Dakota, just got his license last month. It was amazing to see how one day he got it, and he was gone! He is so independent now! I have a hard time keeping up with him. I don't really worry about him too much, but when the younger one gets his next year.......:scared1: !!

Enjoy your weekend!:flower3:

That is great that you have that in common. If I whine enough about being the only girl someone will usually give it and go to the movies and see something I want. Its mostly my youngest...he's still can be guilted in to it. My oldest has gotten to wise in a short period of time....darn pre-teens...LMAO

As some of you said if you still have your parents or grandparents cherish the time ya'll have together. Both my wife's and my parents have been gone for a number of years now. We both miss them alot. With our granddaughter we both said she was not going to want for anything. As a baby Emily's birth mother ran out on her and our son. He could not make it on his own with a 1 yr old baby. My wife and I helped him and Emily move in with us. So we have helped in Emily's growing up. Our son and Emily moved out on their own about three years ago, but Emily still calls our house her home. We have her every week-end and she stays with us every chance she can. She has her own room here decorated the way she wants it. It's like I said, she takes us to go see all the Disney movies and to WDW. Thankfully we live close to Disney World that we get to go just about anytime we want to. :cool1: I have been a Disney fan since I was knee high to a grasshopper. I grew up watching the original Mickey Mouse Club on TV. (I think that makes me about 29 yrs old doesn't it?????):lmao: :rotfl2:
Well enought family history. Ya'll have a great week-end. See ya real soon.

How lucky for Emily and your son to have you all...:)
We get so much out side help from the grandparents, that I truly believe it is one of the reasons that DH and I have such a great marriage...we always have time for just us. I hope I can do the same for my sons in the future.

How funny:laughing: I am that kind of Nana. I have one grandbaby and he is 3. My daughter lives with us. We babysit when she works and Ethan goes everywhere with us. We took him to Disney last April without Mommy she had to work. We had such a great time.

Just returned from seeing WallE. It was super, super cute.

We took my grandson twice. He loves it. He is 3 and so cute. We are still working on usuing our quiet voice in theaters.

What kind of puppy did you get?

We got a Lhaso Apso she is 6 months old.

During the week of my daughters wedding we lost 2 of our beloved pets. Her kitty and one of my dogs. A couple weeks earlier we caught Shelby (my Lhaso) with a dead mouse that had been poisoned. Didn't think 2 much of it because she didn't have it long. The mouse had been dead a while and had been chewed up. Now we think Chloe (our cat) also got it and probably did the chewing.

Right before the wedding Chloe died then a week later Shelby. Right after Chloe died I took Shelby to the vet and they put her on vitamin K. We thought she was getting better but she ended up dying too. It was horrible and very painful. :sad1: It broke our hearts.

We also have another dog that has always been with Shelby I was worried about her being alone and I figured it would be easier to housebreak in the summer so we got another puppy.

I found her at a breeder in Nebraska, we live in Colorado. They make weekly trips to Colorado so we were able to get her right away. She is doing really well. Cute as a button. Still working on the housebreaking though.

Still miss Shelby so much but the new puppy makes it a little easier. Callie (my shiatsu) is not thrilled with her. I hope she comes around soon. She was so mad at me when we first got her she ignored me for 2 days. Wouldn't even look at me.

Davidls-How long did Emily and your son live with you? Was it really hard when they moved out? My grandbaby and daughter live with us and I am dreading the day they move out. They have been living with us since Ethan was 8 months. I think I have been with him everyday of his life. He is 3 now and I am head over heals for him. He has both my husband and I wrapped.

That is so sad...and I'm so sorry :sad1: We have a westie/schnauzer(sp?) mix he is four and spoiled rotten, he even has a babysister (nanna) he goes every moring right along with the kids...lol. We all love him dearly, how horrible for you lose two pets so close...I'm sure that new pupppy will help...:)

Barb ... Sorry to hear about your loss I know how hard it is to lose a pet. That's my Rosee in my picture. We lost her 2 years ago to Cancer. We still have her Uncle Budde though. Here is a poem that a friend sent me that helped:

Rainbow Bridge :rainbow:

Can I just tell you all that I am so glad we switched to this cruise! Just reading about all of you, I feel so lucky that we are going to be around such loving, funny and kind people! Forgive me, I know how sappy I am sounding, but as I sit here and read all of the posts, I just feel all mushy!

My husband Pat and I have both lost our parents, so our boys have no grandparents. Thankfully, it has only been a few years since my mom passed, but we feel so sad for our boys that they don't have that relationship to rely on. Pat and I both grew up without dads, so our boys have never had a grandpa.

Davidls-I said it before, and I'll say it again, how lucky are all of you to have each other! You sound amazing!

Barb, I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. Our pets are truly part of the family and I'm so sorry for your loss.

Sappiness over!

I know how you feel Tink. This is a great group of people. I joined back in 2001 on a thread with some people we were cruising with. Can you believe 7 years later we still talk everyday. I hope these friendships develop into long term ones too.

I love sappiness!
