10-Oct-2009 - Eastern Magic St. Croix

Hi everyone!

I liked that 9/11 Rememberance poem. I got that at work the other day. I certainly remember 9/11. Our license plate is WONT4GT. Sadly, I think too many people already have. Never forget!

Jac, I completey agree! We have a rememberance plate on DH's truck as well. I had a mommy helper in my class this week and as I was explaining the importance of Patriot Day to my kindergarteners, she and I both got teary. It's important that we never forget. My mom used to tell me that 9/11 was my generation's Pearl Harbor.

I would love to get a tatoo, too! And, no! I don't think it's obsessive at all! I have an idea of what I would like (a cute Tink), but I'm just not been brave enough! I keep imagining my tatoo on an 80 year old Grami (my future profession)! :scared:

We could meet 1/2 way at Hart & Huntington in Vegas! I'll hold your hand as you go first!:lmao:

Can you believe we are almost to the 1 year countdown! Woo Hoo!

David, your avatar is likely to become my next tattoo. I need to get a Disney tattoo but am having a hard time deciding which one. I like that logo, I have the key chain and a t-shirt with it! Do you think it's a little obsessive to actually put the word "Disney" on my body?

I think you should go for it Jac.:thumbsup2 If that is the design you like, git er' done!!!:cool1:
I'm going to add one to my small collection. I already know what it's going to be. Not telling yet though, goin'n to be a surprize!!! There are a couple of variations I can make to it, so I have to decide which one would look the best.

Oh by the way this is the image I was trying to share with ya'll yesterday. I think this is a great pic of one of the ships. Enjoy, and have a great week-end.

I also agree, when the boys came home from school on Thursday I asked if they had a moment of silence or anything and my oldest said no and that only one teacher had his class about it.

It is really sad that it has become history all ready. We only live 50 miles away from the flight 93 memorial and can you believe they have never taken the kids on a field trip there, but they continue every year to take them to amusement parks 100 of miles away. Ok enough of my rant...

Hey all

I lived in St. Croix all of my childhood and moved to the US just when I became a teenager...I still have lots of family members still living there. so i can visit anytime i want. I have been thinking about booking this cruise. but since this is my first time doing a disney cruise which is coming on September 27, 2008 to October 4, 2008, i wanted to wait to see how much we enjoyed ourselves before booking. my family and i own a timeshare in orlando. so we go to disney almost every year. we decided to do the land in June and do the cruise this month. i figured that we need more disney traveling...hahaha...anyways, i think i will more than l:happytv: ikely book the cruise too but i will just wait til i come back...hopefully there is still space on the ship for us....

I hope you do join us...:dance3: Since you are from St. Croix maybe you can give us some insight to giving this "motley crew" a name. We still haven't come up with one. It's hard...lol

Obessive would be putting it on you forehead....LMAO...anywhere else is fine.
Go for it!

Gee...

... it has grown quiet suddenly. Well... I was just passing through to look about. We skipped DL today on account of being a bit tired from yesterdays' beach BBQ we hosted (Saturday). We had 5 families on hand for a total of 16 souls. Being that schools started we had most of the beach to ourselves - and the temps were tolerably cool with a bit of a breeze. We made hot dogs, korean BBQ beef, curry chicken, BBQ Beef ribs (I made them and they were only so-so), plus salmon burgers. Here are a few pix:

So ... we did compromise and have dinner with about 15 friends and family tonite (Sunday). Over supper Alicia and a girlfriend of hers made tenative arrangements for them to join us on the Big Island in April... and possibly to take a girls shopping trip to Hong Kong ... without the spouses or kids. So tonite was spent investigating a few travel combinations of dates and hotel deals for Hong Kong.

Aside from that ... we're starting to develope the conversation with our friends and family for sailing/booking Disney in a few weeks ... for a 2010 sailing of some sort!

OK... I'm only semi-coherent.... it's late and time fer me to turn in. I'm beat from the past 2 days... plus the soccer games of saturday morning. Whew! Our 7 year old girls did fantastic scoring 6-1... while our little 4-5 year olds did so-so scoring 2 to 6. Oh well... time to turn in!

Cheers, and we hope your weeek to come is a perfectly pleasant one!

This is one beautiful picture! Did you capture it? Where was it taken? What camera and lense did you use? You must have stablized it with a tripod.... right?

To us, 9/11 is still so vivid. Our oldest son is very interested in going to the military academies to go on and serve his country. I think part of his interest is that he saw 9/11 and continues to see how people we know and love continue to serve their country and community. I would love to see the WTC site the flight 93 Memorial. How sad that it isn't something that your educators value as a historical sight. Maybe it is still too fresh.

Our sons must think alike! I told mine that I had changed our Disney trip dates and he said "Not again!" He thought I meant the cruise! Nope, it was our Disneyland trip for next spring. We moved it up this time! :woohoo: Let the countdowns begin!!!!

Hi Ho all. Well captn' I wish I could say yes that I took this picture, but I can't.:confused3 One of my fellow shipmates on the Disney cruise I took last October shared it with all of us going on that cruise. And, he didn't take the picture either. My guess is that it may be a Disney file photo. But it is one great shot ain't it!!!:thumbsup2 :cool1: I have it as my desktop photo and whenever I log in I hear that famous Disney ship horn. My DW:love: and DGD:cutie: love logging on to the computer now!!!

Well, gots to go for now. Ya;ll keep thinking those Disney thoughts and having those Disney Dreams. :cheer2:

OK...

So - on Oct 7th DCL will announce their 2010 cruise schedule supposedly. Then a week or so after they will start selling those dates. Get ready to look it over and maybe fork out more money to reserve at relatively low prices.

Hi all ... been busy planning for my August vacation ... Can't wait. We are doing a scrap swap, so if it goes well... Maybe we can organize one for our cruise. I think we have quite a few scrappers on board?

Life here is hectic... My daughter went to Canada's Wonderland yesterday and lost her glasses on one of the coasters. Thank goodness she had a second pair at home. I have been trying to call them all morning to see if they have been found and are still in one piece, but keep getting voice mail. Hopefully, they will find them!

I INVOKE THE MYSTIC POWERS of "NONSENSE"!!!!

And (insert "BUZZ BANG" sound effect) ... Your glasses have now been found!!!!

Texas,

I checked them out. I don't think anything reall suits us. Maybe after DH looks at them he'll see something. I did check out this web site http://www.stcroixvijetskirentalsandtours.com/ and I'm thinking that my boys would enjoy it more than what Disney has to offer. It got great reviews on trip advisor.

That looks like fun. I liked one of the excursions that you get to go to a resort and chill at the pool/beach. Sounds like my kind of vaca!

I'm copying a bit of video which a DIS friend posted from our PC EBREPO cruise of a month or so ago. I was co-host of a Mickey Ice Cream Bar Speed eating Challenge (this being the 3rd which I've run on DCL voyages)... it may be good for a few chuckles (click the link quoted below) and the lower portion of this posting was my reply to Arlene this fine early morning:

MountainSunrise.gif

So what am I doing up at 3AM? Why ... I woke up and you know how SOMETIMES you're awakened in the middle of the nite by ... (let's just say ... it's "something"?)... So I walk over to check on the kids... than I walk over to check on where the dog is .... and he's where he is always is more or less each morning ... he's curled up asleep against the front door... good boy.... and then as I often do in circumstances like this... I have to check to make sure the FRIDGE is OK too. So since this last check has resulted in - lets' just say ... I now have ... a reason to be up a little longer ... and I find myself taking a moment to glance at the DIS threads which I track, while I snack ... and I stumble acorss THIS! I've not seen any footage like this before and I must say Arlene... on behalf of my Partners in Crime who co-hosted the event: Shelly, Tina + myself... THANK YOU for posting this. It's brought ME a whole mess of chuckling this fine early morning... so much so I think my cheek bones facial muscles are tender from the extreme grinnin' I've engaged in on account of replaying these clips!

Truly, from me/us to you... thank you for sharing this here. I had a tender throat (from the annoying coughing and sniffles) that day as some might have guessed ... and it seems to not be too obvious from how it sounds (to me). I could be wrong though.

At any rate... TTFN folks! I should try to get a little more rest b4 the sun rise begins.

Hi Everyone! We are all so quiet on here... What's everyone up to these days? Things are finally getting back to normal for Kirstyn and I. Takes about 3 weeks to get back in the routine!

OK... just a quick posting...

.... here's SOMETHING FER NUTTIN'....

FREE Admission to any one of a 100+ museums nationwide good only TOMORROW - Saturday. If ya manage to make use of this please post a little something as I'd be curious how much we all end up saving collectively. I'd be impressed if somehow this all amounted to over $100 or $200. I'm going to save $24 by visiting the Regan Library before our 1st AYSO soccer game ... then maybe afterwards I'm considering another visit to another near by museum I've never visited. Gotta double check the closing times though ... ok... it seems I can only (maybe) visit the MONA in LA... that's the Museum of NEON Art as it closes at 7PM... however it is not all that close. They close at 7PM and we might drive down - visit a bit then catch dinner in town? Well - after 2 soccer games I think we might pass and only see the Regan Library in the AM.

So I'll start by declaring we're saving $24 with this deal... http://microsite.smithsonianmag.com/museumday/admission.html

Otherwise ... may I wish you all a...

Wonderful weekend!

I did some perusing of the excursions offered for St Croix, but I didn't see anything that wowed me. I'll need to do some reading about what's on and around the ports we're going to - I have absolutely no idea what's there.

I have been working hard to meet challenging deadlines. Our city is implementing its own E-911 dispatch system, and my group is responsible for providing the map and all the data behind the map. It's very stressful knowing that it absolutely, positively HAS to be right, since lives may depend on it, and we have such limited time to provide a mountain of data. Haven't felt much like chatting, sorry.

Tomorrow is for relaxing - I'm going to a quilting expo with lots of vendors and exhibits.
