Hello! This will be my first trip to Disney with kids. We know we want to stay on-site since we will not be renting a car. We will have a 6yo and a 10 mo in a pnp. We were originally thinking of a Music or AoA suite, but we're now leaning towards a single at a moderate. Alternatively, I can get friends and family rate for the Holiday Inn at DD. They are on-site but not a Disney resort, so we'd have transportation but lose the other resort perks.

I am wondering, if we go single room, will we be able to put the kids to sleep and then comfortably sit outside the room for an hour or two? (Weather permitting.) How well does a pnp fit in these standard rooms? We are probably just going to bring ours rather than count on one being available at the resort.

I know I can call, but thought I'd ask while I'm here...I know CBR has king rooms, perhaps some other moderates do, too. Does anyone know if we could get a king with the pull down Murphy bed? If so, would that be a bit roomier option with the pnp?

Maybe we should be thinking of something entirely different? We don't want to spend a fortune (ie deluxe or villa), but we don't need to be budget either. We want to have a comfortable room that will meet the need of baby nap time and both kids going to bed before us.

Thanks!

You can sit outside, but there are other factors like weather and bugs to consider. When my kids were small, we always got a villa so that we could put them to sleep and then sit in the other room. One trip, we did not. The problem was, our room was on the first floor and our patio was surrounded by pretty bushes, etc. that attracted lots of bugs. If I HAD to do it again, I would try requesting a higher floor to be away from the plants. However, I would MUCH recommend a suite at AoA or Music.

We also always brought our own Pack and Play. You will have no problem getting one from Disney, but how clean are they really? The ones in the villas sit in the closet every day of the year. They're made out of fabric. It's not a quick wipe down. Eww.

First: The DTD hotels do not provide WDW transportation. They might have a shuttle service, but with no car, you do not want to be dependent on a non-WDW bus for transportation.

King rooms at WDW do not have Murphy beds and will only book for two. We tried to book for three when DS was little since we co-slept anyway, but no luck. You are going to need deluxe to get a private balcony. Values are fine, but small and putting a pack and play in can get tight. Add a stroller and a few toys and a couple kids and it can get very small! We like moderates if you can all be happy in the same room. We found when our boys were little, they were so tired at night they would sleep through a low volume TV or us being on our phones or ipads. The pack and plays are fine. I would not try to fly with one. They have plenty and I have never seen one not in ok shape. You might want to bring your own sheet for comfort or familiarity. A few good choices for you would be the cabins at FW or renting point from a DVC member and doing a 1 bedroom villa. At least check them out.

The Cabins are a great place to stay with kids. There is a bedroom with a full size bed and bunk beds and also a murphy bed in the living room. The full kitchen is really nice and you can take the boat to MK. You can put the kids down at night and relax in the living room or outside on the cabin porch.

I  Fort Wilderness!

Thanks for the feedback.

We really do not want to spend the money on a villa. We will be in the room for naps and nighttime, but we're really going to try to spend as much time out as the kids can handle. If we were to consider renting from a DVC member, where would we look into that?

And we had looked at the FW cabins. We ruled it out after wondering about transportation since it is so sprawling. That said, I know some of the other resorts are fairly spread out as well. At FW, would a pnp fit in that slot between the end of the bunk and the wall?

We stayed at All Star Sports with a pack and play and while it was definitely tight everything fit well enough. Our room also offered a curtained off area with a sink next to the bathroom so we'd retreat there at night. It was very small but we only had to sit there for awhile the first time waiting for the kids to fall asleep. After that they were so exhausted they were completely out very quickly. One night we had the lights on and were talking while they snoozed away, which is not normal for them.

I think the transportation at FW is as good as any. My kids really enjoy the boat ride to MK and it is very very relaxing both the boat ride and staying at the Cabins. I don't think a pack in play would fit between the wall and the end of the bunk beds and there is a little mirror/dresser area there. But a play pen will fit between the bunk bed and the full size bed and you should be able to manage around it just fine. I would put it in front of the closet with an angle tilt toward the bunk bed.

Thanks for the feedback.

We are staying at CBR with a 10 month old and an almost 6 year old. Standard room with two queen beds. Haven't figured out the pack n play placement yet but we've stayed in hotels with both kids before.

My DS6 will be tired and fall asleep no problem with the tv on. Our baby needs quiet so we have no issue playing on the iPad or whatever until she falls asleep.

my 2 cents:)
We are another family that does not need seperate rooms with our DDs. We have been going since our 1st DD was 6 months old and once they fell asleep DW and I could watch TV, talk or sit outside our room, we liked the higher floors. We did not use PNPs, we had a bassinet for infant age and then we would co-sleep. We stayed at the cabins once and thought the bedroom was cramped as it was, I cannot imagine putting a PNP in there. Plus we did not like that it had a full size bed and it was right up against the wall:sad2: After a few days we also abandoned going back to the room for naps, ended up just wasting time, found that DDs slept great in their strollers:yay: I think you will be fine in a Mod, take a look at POFQ it is the smallest resort and nicely themed.

Thank you all! We decided to book last night since we found a great airfare on nonstop flights and didn't want to miss it. We ended up with a CBR standard. After reading more reviews on FW, we decided that was not for us, at least not this time. I also revisited suites, but we ultimately decided we didn't want to spend the extra money. With the recent refurb at CBR, we thought it seemed best for the price. I am really excited! It's been a good ten years since I've been to Disney, and no one else in my family has been. Yay!

We have always stayed at the contemporary with young kids. It's so nice to be able to walk to and from MK so you can control your own destiny some.

We loved CBR, granted we only have one child, she was 13 months when we took her. King room standard room. We requested a ground floor room as they don't have elevators and with the stroller. It was nice just to drive it into our room, especially after we got off the bus with her sleeping in our arms. See if you can request a room close to one of the bus stops, we loved building 33!! We also requested a pack n' play, brought our own sheet and blanket from home.
Also remember to check out Amazon Pantry if you need to get diapers, water, snack etc. Have it delivered to you at least 2 days before you arrive. We went and got a half gal of whole milk from Port Royal concession and it was only $3.50 that lasted us the whole 6 days!

Have a good time.
