general consensus is that it takes 10 days after closing on a resale to get into disney's system to be able to make ressies...

Q: is that 10 calendar days, or 10 business days?? :scratchin

In my case it was 9 days elapsed, 7 business days. I closed on a Wednesday and was in the system on Friday of the following week. But that was back in August '05. Since MS Admin's current workload plays a major role, my experience may not be typical. I wouldn't be surprised if things are taking longer given that Admin is busy processing dues payments and paperwork from the last days of the F&F promotion.

Good luck!

I haven't closed yet-and I made reservations last week. You should already be in the system.

It sounds like you purchased directly from Disney. It's different when you buy a resale contract. You have to close first and then it takes about 10 days for Disney to receive and process the paperwork to get you into the system.

I closed 2/6/06

I was recorded by the OC comptroller 2/10/2006.

I should be in the MS system 2/25/2006. This is after pulling a few favors, speaking to Larry in the out-of-system closing department, and having Jason from the TTS apply a little grease to the wheels of Disney.

Someone said this is because of F&F and annual dues. Larry said no, the re-sale people only handle resales, and are not overwhelmed.

By Fed-Ex tracking forms, Disney had my paper work in hand 02/08/2006, Larry had no record of it (and stated they all came through his desk) on 02/16/2006!

So clearly there is a delay (comparedto 'normal' times), but I haven't confirmed where it lies.

I was told, currently for resales (from yet another reliable resource) 15-30 days after Disney recieves your closing papers to appear in the system. Larry (very nice guy BTW) said no, it is still 2-3 days!

This is interesting because the last time somebody posted about this it was stated that processing the paperwork for internal sales was given priority over resales, which implied that at least at some point in the process, there is one group handling both.

i am hoping and praying that your 15-30 day estimate is not the case...today marks exactly 8 weeks since we signed our contract and faxed it back to our agent - so we're already on 56 days and counting. not sure i can take another 20 days of waiting!

greenban (or anyone who might know) - can you tell me how i might get in touch with this Larry, if need be?

:worried: Holy cow, I second that request. We are also on a tight time frame trying to get into the system, get our Member number, and get at least a temporary DVC card by March 16, the first day we hope to hit the parks on our Spring Break trip. The plan, of course, was to buy discounted APs using our DVC membership. I thought we would be OK with the timing, but now I am not so sure. I returned our closing paperwork to the Timeshare Closing Service company this week. They had it in hand on 2/16, but no word yet if they have also received the seller's paperwork, or closed. Assuming/hoping that they close my file by the middle of next week, say 2/21, and then allowing 15-30 days to get into MS services . . . Uh-oh!

I would also be most appreciative Greenban if you or anyone else can provide hints/thoughts on keeping the process moving along. It does sound like you had a strange, and hopefully not normal delay, where your paperwork was received by MS on 2/8 but then went into a black hole. Is this "Larry" the person to call to confirm that they have received the paperwork after closing? I'm sure they do not want to be bugged by everyone who has a resale working as they probably handle a lot of volume, but by the same token, it sure would be nice if they could drop a one-line email confirming receipt of the paperwork even if you still had to wait some time to get in the system. There is nothing worse than thinking that you are still working through the system, only to find out that you have fallen off the conveyor belt! Well, I will keep on hoping. :worship:
