10 days of DDP - random observations

Back from 10 days of DDP – 2 adults, 3 kids – stayed at POR. We paid full price for the DDP because we made our reservations too late (but we got a room discount).

I’m SICK of Coke!!! (I’m a Pepsi person) There were a couple of restaurants that had Cherry Coke, but otherwise for pop you’re stuck with Coke/Diet Coke/Sprite/RB/ or Fanta. I wish Disney would let in Dr. Pepper or at least make Cherry Coke available everywhere. Even Mr.Pibb cough syrup would be better.

For CS, you can get adult meals for everyone if you want – you don’t have to get kids meals. After the first couple of CS days my kids weren’t too thrilled with the kids meals, and getting 5 adult meals let us try more things.

For snacks at the resorts you can sometimes get larger food items from the gift shops. For example at the POR food court we could get a decent sized (4 oz?) bag of chips as one snack, or instead in the POR gift shop we could get a full sized bag. At the food court one 20oz bottle of pop counted as one snack, but in the gift shop you could get a 2 liter bottle.

The POR food court is really good; we wandered around to some of the other hotels while we were there, and their food courts weren’t nearly as good (WL and Contemporary in particular).

At the TS restaurants I think we got poorer service because of being on the DDP, especially at Planet Hollywood. The servers seemed to pay more attention to other tables than ours; it was like pulling teeth to get refills. But not all were like this. Coral Reef and Chefs de France gave us excellent service, and our waitress got an extra tip because of it.

We got tired of BBQ ribs and rotisserie chicken pretty quickly. We also got tired of the prepackaged CS desserts.

One of the CS restaurants in Tomorrowland (can’t remember the name and too tired to try) lets you order items by number (#1 =hamburger, #2 =cheeseburger, etc.) But the menu has two #4’s listed – a vegiburger and a chili dog are both listed as #4. Guess which #4 I wanted, and which one I got? (They switched it for me, but acted like I was stupid. )

(Not related to DDP,but…) Why is Stitch’s Great Escape still around? That was a total waste of time.

Our last night we went to World of Disney to try to use up our last 11 snacks. At the register the receipt that printed out didn’t show our snack total like they usually do. We asked the clerk and she swore up and down that they had gone on our snack plan, but the next day our hotel bill showed that they had been charged to our room instead. The concierge fixed it, however.

Thanks that was informative, especially

Going soon and have DDP.:thumbsup2

10 days is a long time eating CS desserts. Do you remember what counted as snack items at WOD?

Hmmm...too bad about the service you received, we were on DDP and got really good service at all seven of the TS places we ate at.

BTW, I didn't know that Planet Hollywood was on the DDP.

I came here to post my random thought, so I will just add it here.

Last year on our last day we had several CS credits left over and we used them at Everything Pop for chips, soda, and Mickey Krispy treats. They were extreamly flexable about what we could use them for and pretty much any 3 items worked.

This year it was 100% no go. They made me take an entree and only let me pick from the desserts for dessert (no snack items except the ones that are a dessert). Even after I said I would throw away the sandwich they made me take it, and, I asked 3 cashiers and got the same line from all three. I was sad because we had been able to use our CS credits for 3 snacks the year before. Oh well. As a foot note we could and did use CS credits at the Main Street bakery to get two desserts and a coffee (x2).

Pretty much anything sugar-based :crazy2: which is $4.00 or under is what we were told. Also popcorn (not caramel, because it costs $4.50) counts at WOD.

(At one point in one of the parks my kid had a $4.00 candy item which the castmember wouldn't let us count as a snack because she said it had to be $4.00 including tax. Everywhere else they said it was $4.00 before tax. )

Thanks for the information. I will be going in less than a month. I'm just curious about how you were able to use CS adult meals for everyone. Thanks in advance.

One of the CMs at the POR food court told us we could do that. We were able to do it there and at several of the CS places in the parks.
