This is our first trip and we leave in 5 days! I know that people have a tendancy to over pack so I tried to be real careful. Even being careful I have ended up with two HUGE suitcases, 1 Medieum, 2 small. Plus we each have a carry on. It wouldn't have been so bad but I added the two small suitcases just for our snacks and water!!!!! Doesn't that sound like and awful lot of luggage???? How many bags would you take for 4 people on 10 days of vacation?

Are you planning on doing laundry?

If so, I cut it down to 2 outfits per day per person (kids add another one) & then do laundry on your 3rd day (or every other day like I do).

But then you probably have to bring pants & light coats too where as I go in the summer so it is shorts/t-shirts, ie less luggage.

I am assuming there are kids & if so are they able to help with the luggage?

Just walking in the airport & out even though we took ME we still got our luggage was a pain.

We strapped the car seat on our back, then we had 2 suitcases & 4 carry-ons (there were 4 of us), plus 2 strollers.

After that trip, I decided less was better.

Don't forget if you do shrink what you bring, weight it because you don't want to go over the 50 lbs.

We always take 1 suitcase per person and 1 carry on per person. I wouldn't take food in suitcase as they have grocery stores/target etc in Orlando. Less to carry but then again... that leaves more room for souvineers.
Tips for the airport:
::yes:: DH always bugs me to mix up what I put in each suitcase so just in case one gets lost everyone will have some clothing to wear.
:sad2: Ladies if you have it, wear a sports bra instead of underwire cause it's the most miserable experience to be felt up in security check point due to your bra.
:bitelip: Wear shoes that are easy to slip on and off when going through security check points.

I always end up bringing more than I need too. This trip I am going to try harder to bring only one more outfit than I need. We always buy tshirts at WDW so we can also wear them for extra. Try to do as much mixing and matching as you can, shorts/capris can usually be worn more than one time.
Looking at the Orlando forcast tells me I will not need to pack any jeans, jackets or anything longsleeve! We will probably wear them on the plane flying down and wear the same pair for the return trip.

Of course you will need a couple extra outfits for your kids (if you have them) but again you will probably buy at least 1-2 tshirts.
I absolutly refuse to do laundry while on vacation!!
Be careful of those HUGE suitcases, they can get overweight so quickly, you will appreciate the 2 small suitcases you have for food/water- they will be empty when you end your trip and you an put your suvies in them, plus dirty clothes just seem to take up more room..LOL

We will be following you in 7 days, have not dragged the suitcases up from the basement yet...

Bev

We had 2 large suitcases for the four of us. I washed in the middle of the trip to save room. I take quite a bit of food as well. Maybe you want to have food delivered to cut down on your 2 other suitcases.

OMG -- I never thought of this and I do wear an underwire!

Normally we pack one suitcase per person plus one carry on (and I do try to mix clothing in case one suitcase looses its way). In the summer I pack outfits in ziplock bags -- makes it easy to choose outfits quickly and saves room in the luggage. I was able to pack 2 outfits per person per day for 8 days this way (granted it was summer).

For wife and myself, 10 nights, 2 suitcases and 2 small carry-ons for the both of us. We never do laundry, its a vacation, and we hit a grocery store, Sams Club, on our way into the world. The least we have to handle, the happier we seem to be. That said, we've never run out of clothes and most always have some stuff that never got wore. We're just back, 3 1/2 weeks ago, 9 nights and way too much stuff not used. We will cut down more on the next trip!

OP, I thought when you fly you can ONLY have 2 suitcases per person and one carry on. :confused3

It sounds like you are way overpacked for a week. For the 5 of us I packed 7 suitcases and we went in Jan and had 2 sets of clothes (warm and cold weather) I had snacks packed too but we did have the meal plan.

There are 3 of us and we usually have 1 large, 1 medium and 1 carry-on. This trip we are staying at SOG which has laundry facilities, so I'm planning on doing a load in the afternoon before MVMCP, so hopefully will only have 1 large and 1 carry-on. It's tough because our DD is 15 and you know they need everything, including the bathroom sink packed :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

I'm packing for 7 ...Trying to limit to 3 suitcases and 3 carryons....
1 large and 2 med...
Key word is TRYING !!!
BEST WISHES TO ALL :wizard:

I repacked! I am now down to 2 large suitcases 1 small suitcase and two carryons for the four of us!!! Thanks everyone!

I am also going for 10 days. Everyone gets 5 outfits, 2 pairs of sneakers, and 1 light jacket. I will do laundry 1/2 way through the trip. Everyone has a backpack with their jammies and bed things in it (we are arriving at 10 pm) that will be their carry-on. The carry on is proportionate to the size of the carrier. I will be having garden grocer www.gardengrocer.com deliver the snacks and drinks.

As for airport security...I guess someone will have "happy hands" because all I own is underwires! :thumbsup2

thanks for the tip. i have one sports bra. Guess I better get it out of the drawer and put it in the to pack basket.

Is this "underwire" something new? Like in the last few months? Because I have always worn them and never had a problem before. :confused3
