10 day forecast shows rain!

recent seven day trip it showed a possibility of rain every day. We watched the local forecast on the Weather Channel in the morning and during our afternoon resort breaks to determine whether to take our ponchos or our rain jackets.

We only packed our rain jackets once and it was good we did. There was a steady rain that night - sometimes heavy.

We were in WDW during the monsoon of May 2009! It poured buckets throughout the trip - so much so that we were wading through knee high ponds to get to the monorail at MK.
Guess what? We had an awesome time anyway.
In the end we all only truly have control over one thing in life - and that is our response to what life presents us. If you have a miserable time when it rains, just realize that's your fault...not the rain's fault.

If you read the words and don't just look at the pictures on weather.com, 9 of the next 10 days say ISOLATED or SCATTERED thunder storms. It does not say "rain everyday." Relax.

Thanks for the info Seahunt. I have been anxiously watching the Weather Channel for their Tropical Updates and was getting pretty nervous since we will be arriving on Sunday:woohoo: We always anticipate the afternoon popup storms in August but I was afraid of any tropical storms while we are there. You made me feel better!:)

No worries. The rain will feel good in the heat. Bring a decent pair of waterproof shoes and an umbrella. Beats being at home in the rain. :)

Hey!! Not only do I wake up to all of these lovely and re-assuring posts but I checked the 10 day and it's totally different than yesterday!! :wizard::cloud9: I will not check it again!
See some of ya in the parks!!!!

Okay....I've been to WDW in August more than once. The reason I won't be going back at this time???? The extreme heat/humidity. You notice I say nothing about rain. We had one stay in mid-August that we prayed for rain, every day. But it never happened. It was brutal.
We have been there with a hurricane...Charley passed right overhead on that stay.
It rains in Orlando almost every day during the summer. When it does, it feels so much better afterwards. With that in mind....every day, when you are packing up to leave the resort for the parks, put a disposable poncho for each person in your daypacks. That way, if the skies do open up, you're good to go. The one time I didn't do that, it poured. Poured and stormed badly enough to shut the monorail line at MK down for almost an hour!!! The sky was beautiful when we left the Polynesian, by the time we got to MK, the storm was over us and the monorail stopped dead in it's tracks. Hundreds of guests stayed on that platform, waiting for the storm to pass. Finally, after about 40 mins, some of us got tired of waiting and dashed for it. It was so dark, at 3pm, that the lights came on in MK!!! Oh, man...that rain was incredible. But it sure did clear out the park!!! And of course, that was the day we had no ponchos with us. So, pack them...everyday.

The worst thing is when it rains and the sun comes right back out

Afternoon storms can cool things down really nice, just hope they don't come too early in the afternoon and leaving plenty of time for sunshine and extreme humidity.

Completely agree!!! Our trip during Monsoon week has been one of the best Disney trips (so far) for us despite all the rain. We took on that same attitude -- that we can't control the weather, only how we deal with it. If I'm going to have rain constantly throughout my vacation, Disney is where I want to be.

Of course it is going to rain in FL in August. It is hurrician season also so bad weather is a part of the daily issues.

We did WDW 2 times and August and NEVER again. It is hot, humid, rains all the time (I hate feeling wet or sticky). The worst is peoples moods when they are very hot. Very hot people are grumpy people.

We now go at Christmas or Easter - nice weather and nice people.

What are others Dis'ers experiences with the forcasts?
Useless more than about 24-36 hours in advance.

That said, as others have pointed out, you will get some pop-up thunderstorms. They come and go quickly.
