10/4/08-Buccaneers Take the West! Cruiser List in Post #1

Only 41 days till we sail...OMGoodness! I feel so not ready. I have to plan a big trip to the Jr.Beta Club Convention at the same time because all my "stuff" has to be in to them by Oct. 3rd, so I'm just a little stressed about being ready for both things. Today i have to go over to school and check GPA's of about 50 kids who applied to be in the Beta Club this year.

So, who's planning on being at the teminal when the doors open? My DH sees no sense in that, but I'm pushing for being there EARLY, EARLY, EARLY! It just starts the magic earlier lol.

Good Morning Lori
Your another early bird on a Saturday morning!
No matter how early the vacation is booked, it always seems that once the last few weeks arrive the time flies. I try to remember that as long as I have the necessities (passports, etc) the rest will be great even if I don't get the stateroom door magnets printed to perfection:rolleyes1
As for getting to the port early...the last (and first) time we sailed we drove our own car, so we were there when the gates opened...it was great! I am not a last minute traveller so is was nice having the extra time to ensure everything was in order. This time we are flying in the day before and staying at the airport Hyatt so that we can catch the earliest DCL bus to the port. From what I've read, this should also get us to the port fairly early.
We can't wait and are trying to contain the excitement to some extent:yay:

We plan to be at the port when the gates open as well. I don't think I will have a hard time getting up that morning.

I had something happen at school this week that never has happened before. During lunch Thursday, I had a child to choke on a chip. I had to do the heimlich maneuver on my student. Needless to say, I was a wreck the rest of the day. I came home and went to bed with a migraine. Thankfully, the child is fine. I still cannot believe it happened.

I've got to get busy making our door magnets. We have our first football game today. DS10 is still in his boot, but is much better. Hopefully he will be out of it sometime next week.

I've also got to start planning DS10's party (he will actually be 10 on Tuesday, the 26th). He wants to have friends over to spend the night. A house full of 10 year old boys:eek:   . I definitely will be ready for the cruise after that weekend.

I'm glad to hear that Katie is doing well. Keep us posted on how her recovery goes.

Denise, how is Nate?

Hope everyone has a great Saturday.

Gena

Glad Katie is doing much better!!!!

Gena- thank goodness you are a quick thinker, glad your student is fine!!

Not doing much cruise wise this weekend. Lots of other running to do. have a great weekend all.
Kim

Thanks for asking, Nate is doing better. Not only did he break his collarbone but he got this nasty cold that's going around. Then, he gave it to me.

I'm home, I'm glad to be home, and I'm going to bed.

Just wanted to check in. Better now than on the cruise, huh? But I've done that before too!

Jacquelyn, I hope Katie continues her trip on the road to recovery. You're right. Dissers are special people!

Wishing everyone a great weekend!

Hey all! I hope everyone is doing well. It has been a while since my last post and to tell you it is because I have really not been in the Disney mood. I got the same as millions of others...laid off. We will still be coming on the cruise since it is already paid for and has been planned for for almost 4 years. Unfortunately, I will not be able to participate in the FE so I hope there is still plenty to go around. Not feeling too cheery right now but I have 40 days to recoup and to find a job.
Keep a smile for me!

See you all soon! :goodvibes

Keep your chin up! Things will get better for you-just believe it will!!

Hi
I am trying to figure out how to send a pm...can someone let me in on the secret? I can't seem to figure it out!:confused3
Thanks
Wendy

Sorry...of course as soon as I sent the question out then I figured it out! You guys are good...got the message without anyone actually replying:woohoo:
Wendy

Buzznut,

I'm so sorry to hear that you lost your job. I am a true believer that when one door is closed, another is opened. We are so glad that you will still be joining us all on the cruise.

You do not have to give an FE gift in order to receive an FE gift. My gifts are ready to go and to pulls yours out now would mess up my whole system!! LOL! I'm blonde, it doesn't take much!;) Have your FE outside your door for this cruise truly will be Magic-al!

I will remember you and your family in my prayers.

Awesome Denise!
Thanks for replying so quickly even though you are feeling rough...sending tropical thoughts your way:goodvibes

BuzzNut...been there, done that! After over 13 years and then being acquired by another company, they transitioned the payroll to the US head office. I was there one minute and gone the next. I was fortunate to receive a generous severance package and also to find a new job fairly quickly. It turned out to be a better fit for me. I did manage to squeeze in a trip to WDW in between one job and the other:rolleyes1
I am 100% with Denise...please hang your FE.

Buzznut,
Please hang your FE!! Pretty please!

Denise, I feel your son's pain, or I should say that my son feels his pain. Ben's collarbone is broken too. He hurt it in football practice and the ER said no fracture, but went back 1 1/2 weeks later, now they're saying, yep, it's broken.

Buzznut, I agree that you have to put your FE out. My gifts are already bought and there's one with your name on it, lol.

My son went on his first "date" tonight. He and this girl from school wanted to go see The Dark Knight together, but I told him not unless a parent went with them, so I became that parent, lol. It's kinda weird because they're both my students. I sat behind them with an ex-student of mine so I didn't hover, but I stayed close enough.

Amanda (my ex-student) asked me if he had his arm around her, and I laughed and said "No, he has a broken collarbone. Never thought there'd be a reason to be thankful for that."

Well, I gotta go to bed,
Lori P. :)

Actually, it is my 15 month old grandson! It's really been hard on him because he just learned to walk and falls quite often onto the broken collarbone! His dad, my older DS blew out his shoulder during High School football!

Sorry Denise, I remember reading that now. I got him confused with Gena's son who hurt his foot. I knew he was closer to my son's age. I need to keep notes when I respond to posts cause my memory is getting worse and worse, lol.

So, who's planning on being at the teminal when the doors open?

Wynn and I disagree on this. He wants to be waiting at the door for it to open. I want to sleep in, eat breakfast at the resort, then drive down and be there around 11-11:30. I think I will win! ;)

I got the same as millions of others...laid off.

Been there, done that myself. I have a home daycare. I found out 4 days after sending my final cruise payment that 1 child was moving. 2 days later another gave notice because they got into their preschool. 2 weeks later, 2 more (brother/sister) gave notice because mom decided to quit work and stay home when dad got a promotion. Suddenly I went from saving spending money to not paying bills. I got a call Friday that I have a set of twins starting in 2 weeks. Then got another call Friday for someone needing childcare for 2 immediately because her sitter quit without notice. I SO need this to work out! I think I may be able to really scrape and save a decent amount of money if things work out, but we will definitely be scaling back on what we do extra. pixiedust: for both of us! BTW... I have to agree with everyone else... put your FE out! If not, you may have an awful lot of stuff blocking up the hallway!

Glad to hear Katie is steadily improving. Sorry to hear Nate is sick on top of everything else.

We spent the afternoon at a pool party for Tucker's cub scouts. It was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.

You are all great. Thank you for the kind and supporting words. I know I have to get up and put on my big girl pants. Monday I do have some interviews and meetings with some temp agencies. I just worry due to the economy being so wonderful where I will land.

Thanks again!
Coleane

Sorry I have been gone so long, but tennis season is about to start and school started and weeeeelllll I guess it has been all about me. Sorry about being so self centered.
BuzzNutt- I am crossing my fingers that getting laid off means your dream job is just around the corner! Place me in the "door closed another opens" category. Hang your FE it will be my motivation to get busy on those details. I tend to be deadline motivated can you tell?
momm2four- I think we are on the 11:00 am shuttle from the Sheraton. What time does it officially start? I guess if Kari's hubby gets his way...I'll be in line with them, if not she can save me a poolside seat since she will be the early bird to get the worm. Date night! Wow how weird would that be. But at least you found a way for him to be cool and still be covered parentally kudos!
Denise- Good grief! I hate seeing little guys injured, for some reason it just seems more pitful. Hope Nate recovers quickly (and you) those little bugs that the preschool set carry sometimes can be Bionic!
Jacqueline- I am so happy to see that Katie is recovering and getting back to her sassy ol' self. She is getting acupuncture, massage, therapy....Can i come back as your dog in my next life?
Gena- Yikes!!! That story just scared the daylights out of me. A boy in our neighborhood (8th grade!!!????) bet his teacher he could fit a donut in his mouth...The teacher just kind of rolled her eyes and said "Go for it!" thinking like we all would that he was being silly. He got choked, they were able to get it out, but he had to be rushed to the hospital, because he did lose consciousness.

That's fine, I appreciate your asking about him.
