10/4/08-Buccaneers Take the West! Cruiser List in Post #1

Anyone else remember what has been suggested as group activities:

Meet @ Mickey Pool at 3:30 PM on 10/4/08
Meet @ lunch @ Luminiars at 11:30 or noon on 10/6/08
Fish Extender (FE)gift exchange
Making a donation to a local mission

These are the things I remember: Lets add to it or begin to figure out who is taking the lead on certain item. I will be willing to work on the first meet at Mickey Pool and even the Lunch. I would need to know how many plan to be there and way your stateroom are so I can leave you will final information as I will be out of reach from 9/20/08

Anyone interested in taking the lead on the Fish Extender? Will really need names, Kids ages, and stateroom numbers to provide to those who want to take part. Sounds like it could be fun to drop off small gifts to other unexpecting DISERS.

If others want I would be willing to keep the list for these activities but really need help in arranging the FE exchange and the Mission thing.

I would volunteer for the fish extender thing, but I really don't have a clear understanding how it works. It would be great if someone who has participated in one could head it up. I'll be glad to help, or will do it if someone can give me a detailed description of how it works. I know it has to do with leaving gifts in the pockets, but on what schedule and does everyone leave something for everyone else? Kids and adults?

Have a great Sunday everyone. My youngest is sick with a fever of 102, so I probably won't be going to school tomorrow. I hope I've contained it to him, and that the others don't get sick.

I am the absolute world's worst about having great intentions and then getting busy and not doing it justice. While I dream of the cruise every day, I have other milestones that I have to make it through before I can actually plan. One day at a time you know.

After I get through VBS this year (I help direct) I will be able to focus more. I'm excited about the meet the first day and lunch after that. I love the idea of the fish extender, but right now it is a little intimidating due to other things on my plate. Come summertime I will probably feel differently.

If we still need some help with organization later on I will be very excited to help.

Until then, I'll keep dreaming.....:lovestruc

Not to worry. We well get done what we get done. Just stay tuned most of the work will not happen untill June/July. The most important part is just to be there when we have a meet. If only just to drop by and say hi before you run to do something else.

This is supposed to add to vacation not make it so stressed out you don't enjoy it. So my comment to everyone is do what you can. Come to what you can. But most of all enjoy your vacation and make the most of it for yourself and your family. Happy sailing, Lois

Found on page 3. Just a little bump to move us forward. Happy Tuesday. Lois

Count us in! Just booked yesterday for me, my wife and our 6 year old twins. First cruise for me and the kids. Room 5000 I believe?

Mark

Welcome Mark! Glad to have you join our group. Our family is on deck 5 as well! When will your twins be 7? My 6 year old is turning 7 on the 18th of Feb, so he will be closer to 8 when we sail next year.

Happy weekend everyone! (I love LONG weekends. We got out 1/2 day today and don't go on Monday.)

OH! I wanted to share my terrific news! For the last four years our 8th graders have gone to Washington, DC for a 5 day trip. I have wanted to go, but since I teach 7th, I wasn't really considered. This year, I was told by the guy planning it that they didn't have a female staff member going b/c of different reasons. My principal said I COULD GO!!! YEAH!!!

I get to go to DC, all expenses paid! Granted, I'll be chaperoning 62 8th graders, but this years' kids are a group I became especially close to, so that's a double bonus. I'm leaving March 2nd and coming back March 7th. Anyway, that's my exciting news.

I wish I was going to DC. I was really stupid, I lived only 3 hours away and never went to see DC. I will regret that for the rest of my life. But right now DCL and WDW is getting all my money. I guess I will have to rely on everyone elses pictures until I win powerball. Then I can travel for a living. Lois

Just wanted to say hi to our fellow ship mates on the October 4th Western.
We travel to WDW every year but this will be our first Disney Cruise and we are very excited. We are coming down from Cambridge, Ontario, Canada. We are grateful to have learned so much adout cruising from these boards.

My fiance and I are getting married (second marriages for both of us) on September 30th at WDW. We will be spending the following few days with our families visiting the parks then heading on the cruise. Joining us (in an adjoining room) will be my fiances DS 18 and DD 16 along with her sister.

As a bonus my step-moms niece has just signed a contract to work on the ship. She will be playing Cinderella, Belle and a couple other Characters i believe. She has just finished a contract at DL Hong Kong and this will be her third time working disney cruises. Can't wait to see her perform.

Counting down the days already!!!

How very exciting & congratulation on your upcoming marriage. Welcome to our group. It would be so neat to know someone working on the cruise.

Good Morning to all. Lois

Welcome Ian! How exciting to say you actually know Cinderella! lol

Can't talk much this morning, my house is a wreck and I only have three days to clean up before it's back to work.

Lori P. :)

Welcome Mark and Ian!!

Ian, how exciting about your marriage and about knowing Cinderella! She must be a singer. I wouldn't think she would play that many characters at the meet and greets. It will be almost like we know her too!

Lori, ditto on the three day weekend! Our kids were out for a half day yesterday, but I had conferences the rest of the day. I NEED Monday badly! Also, congrats on Washington. Our chorus went there in the fall, but I didn't get to go.

I'm off to get ready for my dd's Upward cheerleading. Happy weekend everyone!

Welcome to all of the new cruisers. Sorry I haven't posted lately. The past two weeks have been crazy. My mother was in the hospital for over a week and on top of that my father became ill with pneumonia and thrush. Needless to say, I had my hands full (I'm an only child). Thankfully everyone is home and on the mend. Then, one of my dearest friends had her 2nd child and he ended up in the neonatial unit at the hospital with breathing difficulties. He is still there, but doing better. What an emotional roller coaster I've been on.

Congrats, Lori, on the D.C. trip. I went with my older son when he was in 5th grade 2 years ago. Make sure to take warm clothes. I suggest thermal underwear. I wore mine daily. It was especially useful when we went to Arlington Cemetary.

I've spent the past 2 hours trying to catch up on ironing. I still have more cleaning to do. I'm just thankful for the long weekend. My classes (I teach science to my students as well as another class-the other teacher teaches Alabama history to both classes) made volcanoes yesterday. Needless to say we had flour and dough everywhere. Tuesday we get to paint them and then explode them Wednesday. The kids love it. I'm just glad we have the weekend for these things to dry.

I've been thinking about our group activities. I think it would be neat to do something special for the kids. I don't know what yet, but I'll keep working on it. Has anyone mentioned anything about making the fish extenders yet? I will definitely need help with this one.

Hope everyone has a great Saturday. I've got more ironing to do before I get busy dusting.

We're excited here.
I just booked us on the Magic Oct 4, cruise.:dance3: :yay:
It will be my DH Bill, my DD Ashley who is 11, my DD's God Grandmother Geneva, and myself Ginger.
We will be staying in staterooms 5136 and 5138.
It will be Bill, Ashley and my 10th Disney cruise. It will be Geneva's 1st, she's in for a real great time.

Well I'm off to catch up here.
See Ya!

Welcome Ginger! Congrats on your booking!

Let your daughter know that the kids have a thread going in case she would like to talk to some of the other younger cruisers.

Gena, good to see you around. Isn't it amazing how busy life can get?

Lori P. :)

Wow! Another Ginger! Welcome!! I love seeing that you've cruised every year since you started. This will be our third year in a row. My husband has suggested that we may take a year or so off after this. I can't bear the thought!! :sad1:

We need to start praying now! :grouphug:
