10/4/08-Buccaneers Take the West! Cruiser List in Post #1

We've decided on the Rum Point Beach excursion while at Grand Cayman.
We usually rent a car and drive there ourselves but this year I've decided to let DCL handle the transportation.

While at Key West I'm thinking about renting an electric car to run around in. I am going to find a Blond Giraffe for a to die for key lime pie on a stick.

Not sure about the rest of our cruise excursions, still in the planning stage.

Looks like we are in for some snow here in Maryland.:headache:

Have a great evening to all.

We did Stingray City when we sailed in 2005 and it was absolutely the most awesome 'nature' experience I have ever had - and the rest of the family agreed. The snorkeling was good as well. We toured with NativeWay - I was sort of thinking that maybe the stingray and city tour would be the way to go this time.

Key West - we walked to the southern most spot and about all I remember was humid and hot. I am thinking about the trolley tour (where you can get off and on as you want) so we can maybe see more than we did before. Cozumel - never been there. I don't think David could stand a trip to the ruins on the mainland so maybe just a beach day.

Since we're talking excursions, I have a quick question. How quickly do they fill up? Is it possible to book something during the cruise? Our finances are tight right now and we're lucky that we are able to even pay off the cruise so I don't know how much extra money we'll have to take with us. Can we wait and book excursions at the last minute? We won't be crushed if we don't get to do any. We're up for exploring the cities on our own but I was just curious.

If you are doing DCL excursions, they bill your card on the ship. I would also think you should be able to cancel up to a certain date with no penalty but I do not know what that timeframe is. I have never been a big fan of doing DCL excursions but we did several on the Southern and enjoyed each of them. It was not as herd-like as I had thought it would be.

We did NativeWay in GC and they did not bill my card until we took the trip. Had the ship been in port and we didn't show, I am sure they would have billed me but if (for whatever reason) the Magic didn't get to GC, they would NOT have charged us.

Thanks for responding. Do I have to book them before the cruise with DCL or could we pick them up as we go?

They can be booked online once your trip is paid in full and registration opens (different for first time cruisers to repeat cruisers to concierge). I guess my suggestion would be if you know you want to do something, book as soon as it opens, some do fill up. And, if yours fills up, keep trying online and ask when you board since cancellations do happen.

Don't forget we have a lunar eclipse tonight - like 9:01pm EST. Cloudy here, could not see the moon if it was out but that could change (several times actually as I do live in Michigan).

Yeah, I guess what I'm saying is that I don't have the cash to commit to these excursions ahead of time but I might have it by the time the cruise comes around. So, can you actually book them during the trip or does it have to before you get there?

Well, I found out why I thought I had a stomach bug. I went to the doctor today and I've got food poisoning and am dehydrated  . So, no school for me until Friday. I was awake this morning since 1, running a temp and couldn't sleep. I was lucky to find a sub (we have to find our own). I am beginning to feel somewhat better. I slept all afternoon and am drinking as much Gatorade as I can stand (I am not a fan of this drink-give me my Diet Pepsi or Diet Mt. Dew any day). Anyway, things hopefully are on the upswing.

I don't know what we are going to do when it comes to excursions. I haven't had a chance to talk to DH yet. He was suppose to be going to Boston for travel today, but his boss cancelled his trip so he could help take care of me. It sure is nice to know there are good people still in this world.

Hope everyone has a good evening.

Gena

Welcome to the newcomers. And a prayer for healing for all those who are not feeling well.

Got up and discovered that we are encased in an ice cube here in the midwest. Have a meeting at 8 AM at work but really amy not sure I want to venture out. I will just wait and see.

You can book the excrusion while on board. Just be aware that some of the more popular one will fill up even before the cruise. They will not bill you for the excursion until you take it. I don't know if that will help the cash flow concern.

Well I have a hot shower in my future then a decision to make if I am going to go Auto ice skating. Lois

Still at home. Just got back up from a three hour nap. Still snowing and icing. Just taking the day off going to work this week-end.

Found us on page two everyone else must be busy working to pay for DISNEY. See everyone when you have a free moment. Lois

Gena - I hope you are feeling better soon!!!

Since we just booked we aren't too sure what excursions we will be doing. Even though I live in Florida we have never been to Key West before. We have wanted to make the trek down for some time, but I figure this way is much better! I definitely want to go and have our picture taken at the southern most point and we will probably do the trolley and wander around.

We were just in Grand Cayman and Cozumel in December and we shopped in both places and in Grand Cayman we went to the beach in the afternoon, but this time we are probably not going to shopping - I just want to go and do something. I guess I have to think about if I have the nerve to go to stingray city! I know DH would love to do that. He loves to snorkel as well, but I am more of a 'fraidy cat!

In Cozumel I had read about an all inclusive beach resort that we were going to do last time and we didn't - so we will probably try that.

Kelly :)

Thank you, Lois! That is exactly what I needed to know.

Your welcome. It is Friday, almost the weekend. I hope everyone stays warm and safe. Since I did not work yesterday I get to work all weekend. Oh well I like being in the office when it is closed. Get some much more done. Lois

Good morning. I am now going to finish folding the laundry. One last load in the dryer and then got to run to work. Some how need to make up the snow days I took. Hope everyone has a restful weekend. Lois

Happy Sunday! Had our office Christmas Party last night (yeah, I know but December schedules can be really difficult and the timing for everyone worked perfectly) and had a great time. We played Bingo and I won the grand prize but ended up sharing it with someone else as we finished our coverall on the same number. My cruise fund now has $200 it didn't have before so all in all, not too bad.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
