10/4/08-Buccaneers Take the West! Cruiser List in Post #1

Following are the new siggy rule in case anyone is confused as to what happened with the rest of your siggy. Hope this helps

Please Read - New Signature Guidelines

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From Webmaster Alex:

Our signature rules were written a few years ago. Back then a lot of our posters used dial up connections and the VBulletin software did not have the functionality it does now.
The old rules were difficult to understand and they took a lot of moderator time to enforce. We have developed all new rules that should be much simpler and much easier to enforce automatically.

1. Your signature will be limited in length. The program will do this
automatically and anything over the allowed length will be cut off

Explanation- the biggest complaint we recieve is that signatures are too long and it takes too long to scroll through threads. We are going to start with a height of 250 pixels, you'll see what that means when we roll this out. We may add an additional option so that a signature only appears once per page.

2. You will be limited to a total of 25 images and smilies The program
will handle this automatically

Explanation- That should be PLENTY considering the amount of space

3. All content and links must meet DIS board posting guidelines.
Signature have the same content rules as any post on the boards

Explanation- Pretty obvious I hope, this includes commercial link, links to innapropriate sites, etc etc

4. You may not have a signature that is so wide it causes the page to
expand

Explanation- This is something the software can't control. Basically the only way to do this is to have a really really wide picture. If your signature means people with a normal resolution monitor need to scroll from side to side you'll be told to remove the picture causing the issue

5. We reserve the right to remove or modify signatures that cause
issues with the boards or slow page loading. Please make sure any images in
your signature are hosted on a reliable site. Any signature that contains
malicious or harmful code will be removed immediately and the poster
sanctioned

Explanation- Most of this should be pretty obvious. One thing people might not realize is that when people complain about the boards being "slow" it may not be us at all. When the boards load a page, if it can't find an image, it can make the boards appear slow.

We will roll this out in a few days, probably Wednesday. You don't need to take any action now, but you probably will want to check your signature after this goes into effect to see how it was affected.
If you have any questions on this please post on this thread on the tech support board, I will monitor those.

The Webmasters believe that these new, simplified rules will make the boards a better place for our posters and moderators.
Thank you for being a DIS boards member!

Hi all
was posting on 27 Double dip thread until we had to change cruise date so now me and family ( hubby, Emily (7) and Jonathan (4)) will be joining you on 4 October 2008 cruise. Just off the phone to Disney Cruise Line and rebooked for stateroom 7056.

Can start planning now - can we be added to list for this cruise

Welcome. I am glad you were able to transfer your Ressies over. This should also be a really good cruise. Lois

Welcome lynnemcb, You can certainly be added! :)

Jan is the one who adds to the list and the lucky duck is on a cruise without us this week. Waahhhh! (jk) If I get time, I'll go through and make a list of the new cruisers who haven't been added, and then she can just cut and paste when she gets back. Our list is growing almost daily!

Lori P. :)

Welcome new 10/4/08 cruisers! When I get back from this week's Wonder/WDW vacation, I'll add you to our cruiser list on post #1.

We arrrived at the Orlando airport Saturday at 10:10 am., stopped for bottles of water and use of the restrooms, got our luggage (fortunately, our luggage was one of the first on the conveyor belt), went to Budget to fill out the paperwork for a car, got into our car, and were on the road by 10:50 am!!!!!

We spent the day in Cocoa Beach. We stopped at Shirley's shop, the Perfect Gift, but the shop was already closed for the day.

Lori, I promise to take lots of pictures. With the tornado damage in our town and being without power and having to work and being tired, I forgot my camera!!! :guilty: So, Plan B goes into full drive, we stop at Circuit city and pick up an inexpensive digital camera. I HAVE to take pics, especially since my DD and her family will be cruising the Wonder with us next September and this is their very first cruise ever.

We are staying at the new Country Inn and Suites in Cocoa Beach. It is now the closest hotel to the port (the Radisson used to be able to claim that it was the closest hotel). Location doesn't really matter to me, as most of the hotels on the strip are at most 5-10 minutes from port. I was able to check out the kids suite. One room with bunk beds and a single bed, plus a TV. The rest of the room is traditional hotel room. Outdoor pool is very nice. I just checked out the breakfast area. Very generous and impressive as to food selections: lots of variety of cereals, fresh fruit, wrapped Sarah Lee bagels, muffins, etc., a freezer with Jimmy Dean wrapped breakfast sandwiches, plus the usual beverages. The hotel has a business center - that's how I am able to post. Also, I just found out that if you want to shuttle to port, the charge is $3.00. I may do that while Dave takes the rental car back to Budget. That way I can get an early fix of being at the port among all other excited cruisers.

We went to Grills last night, which is near port. Great view. I took pics of the Magic as she sailed by. Just an FYI: Go to Grills' website and print a coupon for a 15% (at least I think it's a 15% discount) and hand it to your server. All out of state guests are eligible for the discount

Well, dear Buccaneers, I'm off to do more exploring. Dave is still sleeping. Will post more post-vacation.

Jan

:welcome: to those that have recently joined our group. As Lori said - we seem to be growing daily!

Jan and Dave - have a great trip on the DVC cruise. Sorry I missed your call yesterday - your phone didn't leave your number so I couldn't call you back (in transit with no planner) I am also glad to hear your house is fine from the storms - nothing here at all. Have a mickey bar for me - my fix is still a few weeks off.

We spend yesterday driving to Dundee (about 3-1/2 hours) to meet up with my parents so they could see DS's senior picutes and pick out what they wanted. They had seen them online but I discovered (have NO idea why I could not see it before) the one they originally wanted showed a huge tan line around Drew's neck (looked like he had a t-shirt on under his shirt :rotfl: ) but hey picked something else and we came home. What a long drive but worth it I think.

Our leaves have turned (our peak was probably early this week) but it has been windy and many have dropped. Sad to think that snow is not far behind but that is life in northern Michigan.

Take care everyone - enjoy your Sunday and have a good week!

Hi all! Just found out today that my mom and step-father will be joining us on this cruise :) As of right now they are in 6514 on Deck 6. She may be posting here at some point, but don't know when.

I hope that everyone has a good week. We're having Red Ribbon week which is to advocate against the use of drugs, so every day we're having some special day. Tomorrow is pajama day, so that'll be cute. Hopefully, the kids won't be too silly.

Talk to you all later!
Lori P. :)

Welcome over here see you already know people since some of us are doing back to back cruises :)

Red Ribbon Week here too! We had crazy sock day because "Drugs stink!"

Tomorrow is hat day for us.

Ginger

It is also Red Ribbon Week for us. It was "put a cap on drugs" today, so I had on my mouse ears as my cap. The kids loved it. Several said they knew I would have them on. Tomorrow is dress like your friend day. All of the 4th grade teachers are wearing matching shirts and jeans.

I think ours was "Follow Your Dreams" which is why we wore pajamas.

Tomorrow is something about a team or something, so we're wearing sports shirts/jerseys. Our twin day is Thursday.

Bumping up from page 3. Where is everybody? :)

Good day here in Chattanooga. Our schools had a 1/2 today, and I took a personal day off, so was able to sleep in. I even did the "bad mom" thing and let my kids stay home. It was so nice sleeping until 8, getting up and eating a relaxed breakfast, reading the paper with my DH. He, unfortunately, had to go to work, but tonight we're eating out with some friends we haven't been out with in a while, so that'll be fun.

It's finally starting to feel like fall here. Temps in low 60's. I keep having to go downstairs and dig through the fall/winter clothing for my kids. Last night was my DS12's first middle school soccer game (which they won:cool1: ) and it felt so cool that I bought some hot chocolate. Love that kind of weather.

Talk to you guys later!
Lori P. :)

We have been doing some training at the office and have out of town people so I have been wining and dining (or is it whining and dining??) and have not been logged in.

Beautiful day here but yesterday morning we had a very heavy frost (it was 27 degrees) so must be fall is here. My son's soccer is over for the season but we have played district games and had to shovel snow from the field! Geez that was a nasty game.

Hope everyone has a fun weekend planned - I am going to do some 'spring cleaning' (yep, I am very slow) but I need so get some things better organized so that is my plan. Sounds fun doesn't it??

I'm home with the grandkids. They had the day off so we are just hanging out. Just kinda a lazy day. I really like those. Got to give up the computer to the grandkids talk later. Lois

Got to give up the computer to the grandkids talk later.

I know what that's like, although I'm a little selfish with my laptop. Our TV is more like that. I don't think I ever watch adult interest shows when the kids are awake. I feel like I know every SpongeBob episode in existence (although I do REALLY like Jimmy Neutron, lol)

Enjoy the grandkids!

glindamood, sounds like a rough life...having to go out to dinner for your job. That's a big sacrifice, lol.;)

Well, someone has to do it! This week was a bit rougher - training means one has to do that plus the rest of your work and there are just not enough hours in the day.

Then yesterday DH had to have an MRI (having back issues) and we were worried about claustrophobia and he was fine, until he got up off the table that is. Passed out and cracked his head (goose egg) on the table. They gave him juice and a muffin and we were sent on our way after they watched him for a bit. He is sore today but hopefully that is all.

I will be mighty glad when they get the film read and get him some relief. We have done the physical therapy thing and they took a regular xray at the Dr's office earlier this week and not good. One's spine and pelvis are supposed to line up - not David's. We have an appointment to see a surgeon next week and will take it from there. I just feel that we wasted so much time doing PT for something that requires surgical intervention! Very frustrating - darn insurance companies! They spent more on the PT than the did on that regualr xray! And now you all probably know more than you would like - sorry but thanks for listening.

OK - I am going to clean a closet and get something good accomplished today! Enjoy your weekend all!

Sorry to hear that. Well at least in the states you will not have to wait a year to get surgery. In Canada we get the tests done fairly easily but wait for surgery. If it is life threathening it is done ASAP. Hope they can fix it and he is back to is normal mobility soon :)

A YEAR?? Guess I should stop whining.

My family of 4 will be joining you. We are on deck 6 early seating. I have already booked our night before room at the Radisson until hotwire or priceline open up. Just impatiently waiting for time to tick down for more planning and then relaxation. Until then Hello to everyone. I have cruised before but never met or shared. This time I hope to keep the courage to meet.

:welcome: Wynn! Glad to have you joining us!

Meeting up with fellow DISers makes for some great friends. JanDave and I both live in Michigan and we met here on the DIS in our cruise meets thread, met up at a local restaurant and have become great friends.

Have a great Sunday everyone!

Welcome to the group. We hope to continue to see post from you from time to time. Over the next year maybe you will become confortable enough to risk one of our activities on board. You always have to be careful when chating on line but for us adults a meet on the Disney Magic is about as safe as it can get. If there is anyone you want to meet before the cruise just do it in a public place and don't disclose any personal information untill you get to know them well enough to feel safe.

Last cruise was my first time with a DIS group and it was really neat to see faces that were familar around the ship. However we will all accept that you need to do only as much as you can be confortable with at this time. Looking forward to reading more, Lois
