10/4/08-Buccaneers Take the West! Cruiser List in Post #1

Husbands really need to be supervised they just don't play with the same rule book.

I am happy that Katie is continuing to show improvment.

I am very happy that Ike is gone and hope that all effected recover very quickly.

I am ay 5 days and still counting. I now want it to slow down. Well I need to find a least a small amount of motivation to work. Lois

Just wanted to introduce our family as we are so excited to be cruising for our first time. Our 7 year old daughter has successfully beaten Leukemia (Cancer) and her wish was to go on a Disney Cruise. The wonderful people at Make-A-Wish have delivered the itineray and we are way too excited!!!

After 25 months of chemotherapy treatment, she is back to herself and we are very grateful. :cheer2: Hope to meet some of the great people from DIS who are cruising this same week.

Congratulations on beating the lukemia! I can't imagine how extatic you are about that! You will have so much fun on the cruise!
I noticed your pic is of a race car, what's the scoop? My father in law races dirt track in the midwest.
See you soon!

Welcome to our group. Your little girl must be a fighter and I am sure you are very proud of her. Thank God for Make a Wish. This should be a very good time for the whole family. Lois

Wanted to give you a great big welcome from a fellow Ontarian (is that a word?). Wow...congratulations to all of you on beating the leukemia! So glad you are able to cruise with Disney and that your daughter got her wish. We try to donate whenever possible, so kind of feels like actually seeing the donation at work.

Congratulations on your daughter successfully beating Leukemia. You and your family have a reason to celebrate!!

You can tell that the cruise is getting close now becasue I'm starting to have my pre-cruise nightmares.
Last night's nightmare was that Chris and I were checking in at Port Canaveral for the trip when I suddenly realized that I forgot to pack my underwear :scared1: , bras, pajamas and health/beauty aids.
So, the first thing I did this morning was go into the basement and put a huge sign on my suitcase that said, " Jacquelyn, Don't forget underwear, bras, pjs and h & b aids!"

Hopefully, I don't have anymore pre-cruise nightmares!!

LOL Jacquelyn! That (almost) happened to me one time. Tucker and I were going to the beach for 4 days when Tucker was 2. I had everything packed except toiletries. I went to grab the stuf, and he took all my shirts and bras out of the suitcase to put in toys. I didn't realize it until I was getting ready to go out to dinner that night. :scared1:

I know this has been discussed before but what is everyone wearing for Pirate Night? How elaborate are people getting?
I don't know what Chris and I are wearing yet. I saw pirate costumes on buy.com and may get those.

Good Morning All ... 3 Weeks Today !!! :woohoo:
First, welcome to Vero Beach Girl pixiedust: So...just wondering if you are from Vero Beach, love vacationing in Vero Beach ??? In '97 we spent a few days at the, just opened, Disney's Vero Beach Resort. We stayed within the resort and didn't have time to venture out, but it was really nice. Early one morning we saw a shuttle go up from Cape Canaveral.

Born and raised in Vero Beach, Florida. I now live in North Carolina because DH's a Duke man. Ugh! My parents and sister's family are still in Vero Beach, so I go home wayyyyy too much!
My first job was actually as a cast member at Disney's Vero Beach Resort. That was in '97! I was a hostess (with the mostess) at Shutters! Maybe I sat you!

Welcome "Make A Wish Family!" That is actually how we first heard of this cruise...several years ago a a friend of ours son had a serious blood condition, went through chemo, had a bone marrow transplant and came through everything. Their family was sent on the Disney Ship and they can back just totally jazzed about the trip. It was just what they needed after a year of going through he**! So, congrats to you and your family! Hopefully this will be the perfect way for you all to celebrate and start this new chapter in your lives. :dance3:

Jackie, as far as pirate night I wanted to go all out, but with 4 of us I thought it would be more practical to do white shirts and black pants. I saw a picture of another family on the DIS boards that did that and when you added in splashes of "pirate" (eye patch, bandana, big hoop earings) they looked really nice. Made a great picture in front of the white backdrop too. :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome; I can see everyone is as excited as we are!!!

I race a dirt oval Mod Lite dwarf car up here in Southern Ontario.

Where from Ontario are you from? We are from Beamsville, ON near St. Catharines area.

Okay my Dis Friends...I need prayers and pixie dust!

As most of you know, this is the first extended family vacation my group of 10 has had in years. We booked this cruise two years ago. Now, we are running into problems for the day we leave.

We are planning on leaving Thursday the 2nd right after school to begin the drive. I REALLY want to have a little time at DTD Friday afternoon before we head to the Radisson.

My DH found out that he will not be able to return from his business trip until Thursday afternoon. My sister has to report for jury duty Monday morning and is praying that they don't select her. Her husband is flying in from business in Charlotte sometime Thursday!

We are waiting to find out if he can manipulate his schedule to come in earlier. We might even see if his flight can be switched to Atlanta and pick him up on the way.

Either way, my sister and I will both be trying to do last minute packing four our families of four while we are teaching school. AAAGGGHHHH!!! :lmao:

Can you tell I need a vacation??

16 days according to my ticker!!

Ginger

Does anyone else feel like they have so much to do between now and the cruise? As a family, we have so much going on. I can't wait until I'm on the Magic with my dh and baby. I look forward to not having a cell phone and computer! I can't wait until my most important decision will be what to eat for dessert! Can't we just fast forward to October 4th?

   Welcome from a fellow Canadian! You must be so proud of your daughter and so excited to celebrate her success! I'm Nicole and we're cruising with our three kids 1,3 & 5 and both sets of grandparents! We're coming from Alberta! You've joined a great bunch of people we're all so friendly here and have some exciting events planned to meet up!

I know this has been discussed before but what is everyone wearing for Pirate Night? How elaborate are people getting?
I don't know what Chris and I are wearing yet. I saw pirate costumes on buy.com and may get those.

We are all dressing up so far (us 5). The kids all have pirate costumes from the daycare tickle trunk and Mike and I well, I'm working on that but we do hope to dress up as much as we can. I'm just concerned about having enough space in my suitcase(s) to pack the mounting lists of things to bring for 5 people! LOL Oh and also finding room for all the people who want to come with us yeah...our suitcases will be pretty full!

I agree it's amazing how busy we can get in life! When we had our third in four years things all of a sudden got SO much busier! I know we are all looking very forward to spending some down time together as a family on this holiday. Even hoping for some grandparent/grandkid time too! Mommy and daddy need some down time too! LOL

Oct. 4 is my birthday too so it's even more exciting for me, probably the best b-day present I've ever got!

Does anyone know what kind of internet service we have on the ship? DH wants to take the laptop so I can answer emails if I need but if we don't have great access or an avail. hot spot it's one less bag to take! Any help on that would be great if anyone knows.

Is anyone else going to MK on friday (3rd)? Just wondering we'll be there for a good lot of the day and staying for supper then going back to the hotel to get ready for the big day!

WELCOME!!! We are so happy to have you join us.:)

Hope everyone is having a great evening. Still no documents yet, but we did get our DV rewards card in the mail today:yay: . I wanted to get our suitcases out tonight, but too much school work for myself as well as DS13. Maybe tomorrow night, if we can get his project for history completed in time.

Hope everyone has a great Tuesday.

:welcome: Paul from another Southern Ontario Family. We are from Cambridge. There are quite a few Canadians on this Cruise. Now if they only served Timmies coffee and Molson beer we'd be all set:goodvibes

I don't know what Chris and I are wearing yet. I saw pirate costumes on buy.com and may get those.

We are dressing simple, just some shirts we've made and a few pirate accessories. With all the wedding stuff we have to lug down, space is at a premium. We're going to wear the same stuff to the Halloween Party on September 28th so we're getting double duty out of it.

Does anyone else feel like they have so much to do between now and the cruise? As a family, we have so much going on. I can't wait until I'm on the Magic with my dh and baby. We're starting to realize how much we have left to do in the next week and a half before we leave on the 27th. We have been working feverishly on the wedding stuff and it's coming along good but everyday our to-do list seems to grow. We started packing today so that's a sure sign we're actually leaving soon. Don't think we'll be relaxing much until we leave.

Is anyone else going to MK on friday (3rd)? Just wondering we'll be there for a good lot of the day and staying for supper then going back to the hotel to get ready for the big day!

We will be staying at POP Thurs and Fri, and going to Sea World on Fri. We are planning to hit DTD for dinner and shopping Thurs night, then go play putt-putt at Fantasia Gardens. Fri night, after Sea World, we are thinking about a haunted hayride at Fort Wilderness, the campfire sing-along, then back to POP to swim before bed. Don't know if we will have time to get everything done, but I am going to try! We are trying to squeeze in those extras at WDW that we think are cool, but never have time to try.

Hope everyone has a Tuesday.

I'm pretty sure we'll all have one... here's hoping its a good one! :rotfl:

yensidtlaw:

I hear ya in regards to my Timmies and Canadian beer!!! In fact I am wearing my "Give 'me my Timmies and No One Gets Hurt" shirt right now:rotfl2:

My head office for work is in Cambridge - Rockwell Automation Allen-Bradley. We should all hook up when we get on the cruise to put a name to the face.

Is there any plans for DIS meetings already scheduled that I am not aware of?

What kind of gifts do you give for the fish extenders?

Thanks,
Paul
