10/26/2013 - A Western Fantasy Halloween Cruise

Hi all! Just wanted to pop in with an introduction :)

My name is Lennie, my husband's name is Al, and we'll be celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary on this cruise!

This will be my 5th Disney cruise and my hubby's 4th. We love all things Disney and are SO looking forward to this cruise and of course checking out the Fantasy. We were on the Dream two years ago and it was fabulous!

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Cheers!!
Lennie

Welcome Lennie! We're also from Toronto (Scarborough really). Congratulations on the Wedding anniversary!

Did my online booking last night - got my 11am PAT and Palo dinner on Tuesday (Grand Cayman day) and brunch on the 31st (Halloween - not too sure how I feel about that yet).

I was really surprised that Palo brunch isn't offered on the Costa Maya day since we don't dock until 1pm.....

By the time I logged in at 7am this morning to the DCL site, there was only the one opening for Palo brunch (10:30am on the 31st - for a table of 3/4 anyways). I'm guessing that doesn't bode well for anyone who is on their first cruise.

On the plus side, there were lots of openings for Palo dinner. :thumbsup2

We booked everything we wanted too. :cool1:

Palo Brunch - Sunday at 12:30
Cayman - Aquaboat & Snorkel
Costa Maya - Mexican Food & Drinks Experience (Not Disney)
Cozumel - ATV Adventure
Castaway Cay - Parasailing for DW and DD

And thursday, 2nd sea day is wide open for Mixology.

Now, Can we go crusing Now ? Please. pixiedust:

What time are they parasailing? We are also booked for that (although Linda doesn't know yet since I’m giving it to her as a birthday gift)! I booked us both but I'm thinking I might just let her go up both times . . . I did it once before and was fine, but for some reason, I'm already panicking this time, but want to go out on the boat ride with her!

Their resservation is for 11 am. They are riding it together to give support to each other. That day is DW's Birthday and that's her birthday present too :goodvibes

So I'm a first time cruiser and I'm overwhelmed with the choices for excursions!! I have two active boys, 7 (turning 8) and 5. I think I want to do the Dolphinarius (??) for the kids, but not sure if Dolphin Discovery is better. Also, I'd love to just do a beach day with my boys. Which beaches are best and do you have to "book" a beach excursion or how do you get there?? Thanks for your patience!!

Katie

Hi Katie, I really can't help as I've never done a Western Caribbean cruise before so am not familiar with any of the ports. There are many experts here and on the FB group so I'm sure you will get plenty of suggestions though :)

As far as beaches go, we are doing Nachi Cocom, an all-inclusive beach resort, at Cozumel. It gets pretty good review in everything I've read and there is a big group going so should be fun.

Can't help with the dolphins but about a beach day - remember that Castaway Cay (the final port) is DCL's private island and is essentially, a "free" (well, included) beach day - chairs, umbrellas, food, non-alcoholic beverages, etc. They even have a waterslide in the ocean for everyone to use.

Hi welcome :goodvibes

As a first time cruiser you and family are going to be very much hooked on the ship, so a recomendation could be to do half day excursions and return to the ship early enough for lunch. Attractions like Aqua Duck lines will be so much shorter with so many people doing their excursions.

Castaway Cay is your best beach day.

We are booked on this cruise. I will look into the FB page you have started as well.

Question of the Day (week?):

What is the first thing (s) you plan to do when you get on the fantasy?

:thumbsup2This is cruise #10 for us, and we have a pretty set routine:

  • Get on board and go to where ever they are holding the "MDR Updates" - we make sure my allergy is listed and that we are on second seating.

  • We will go to Palo to request Laseryo (sp?) - We love him and missed him last year - he had gotten hurt and out to have surgery and recover

  • Then will be lunch - I prefer eating inside (Enchanted Garden), Linda prefers eating outside (Cabanas) so we alternate on each cruise (I believe we are eating outside this trip)

  • Then we check to see if our luggage/room are ready - and attempt to meet our room steward (I request that the couch bed to remain a bed the entire cruise - due to health issues I take a nap everyday)
