I have been begging for my principal to do lock down drills. I have been there almost 3 years now and we have never done one. I have emailed the principal asking to do them, my VP has mentioned it and nothing. My husband says you are only as good as you are trained. Well if the place catches on fire we are set, as fire drills are state mandated to do monthly. Well when was the last time kids were killed in a school fire, I have never seen one. This week was the first time that I have considered going somewhere else, and it kills me that I am thinking that because I love where I work.

when cassie was in high school and they had lockdowns, she would come home and say they had a lockdown dance party in the classroom.
 :lmao:

Hi Becky,

We just got home from ds house. They are leaving for WDW next Fri. We had xmas together today.

Very snowy today and storm warning through Mon. morning. We've already had several inches and drove home in freezing rain. Fortunately there was plenty of snow on the roads. They hadn't been plowed, so we could get some traction.

We're suppose to get up to 10 inches by Mon. Who knows. In this area, we get a lot of warnings and get very little. It seems the only time they are right is when we get our lake affect snow. (We get more of that than anything) Good old Lake Erie. :confused3 It really knows how to ruin your plans.

We still have xmas shopping to do and we're planning on doing it tomorrow... If it's too bad out there... it looks like I'll be baking cookies instead. (Just what I need.)

winter storm warning out till monday morning. :sad1: :scared:

We're just getting rain here now. Temp keeps hovering at 36.

I'd like a day off on Monday to catch up on house work before the holiday and get my voice back--sore throat. Philip loves that I have to whisper.

Weather days are one of the FEW perks of my job.

I work in an office, but our CEO is very safety conscious. If we're at work and the weather looks like it going to get bad, she sends us home.

If it's bad on our way in to the office...they don't have a problem with staying home. :goodvibes

I have worked at two schools in the last ten years. At both places we had lock down practices. And at both places one of the "good kids" said, "I don't why we're locking in ourselves. We're being locked in with the person(s) who might hurt someone else." Then the student would point at a troubled, unstable kid. The same kid we've referred to the counselor multiple times.

I guess I better get off of here. I really need to make a list... I'm planning on finishing my shopping tomorrow. (weather permitting)

Nite Tanya

Strep has been going around in this area.

Hope your throat is feeling better. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the good thoughts. It's been a strange feeling. More like allergies than anything else. And I usually am not bothered with allergies.

Strep is raging here too. Rem had it two weeks ago. All better now.

And well, since I almost peed my pants watching everyone's elf yourself videos, I figured I would do one too. I wanted to add my 2 dogs and cat but they only do 4 at a time :confused3
