Do you Americans (or Cass) eat traditional christmas cake?....Hazel has a recipe thats been pasted down since they lived in caves if anyones interested just let me know...I don't eat the stuff but the smell when it's in the oven is to die for....

ps...The last of her family are due to move into a house any day now....

I noticed that the thread title has changed again. Before long we're going to have to take a page out of Prince's book and just settle on some sort of mystical unpronounceable glyph.

Or a really long acronym.

Like I can now be referred to as Brenda AKA QUAKK FKA OLBFFFNPWB

Yes, thank you; we do call it fruitcake over here. And we save them all until they're as hard as hockey pucks and then we chuck them at the kids in the neighborhood who trample my tulips in April.

Hi everyone! It's cold and icy and miserable ... and I'm sitting at my desk at work and that doesn't make it any more enjoyable, let me tell you.

Good news is that the power kicked back on shortly before we went to bed last night; bad news is that we're supposed to get hit with another wave of freezing rain tonight and tomorrow night and maybe even on Wednesday.

I thought I'd stir things up just a bit to keep warm ...

The Pirate deck party started in fall of 2004 ... is anyone here, aside from Jay and me, hoping that by 2009 DCL will have come up with something different? Five years is a long time to keep the same deck party going on constant rewind if you ask me.

But I also have to admit that my hope for a new deck party is also prompted by a total lack of "getting" the whole pirate thing in the first place.

So what do you guys think? What do you hope to see in 2009?

You know, I was thinking about the pirate party the other day, wondering if they'd still have it when we sailed again. I'm sure it's partially a tie-in to the POTC films, as well as a good way to involve Captain Hook. I'll admit DS enjoyed the Pirate theme, but he's a little boy - they like pirates!

I liked the Pirate Party, but also wouldn't mind a tropical theme party. If we have the Pirate party again, I don't have to miss all the fun and dancing 'cuz I'm trying to get pictures!

I would like new shows...I heard they're adding a new "Toy Story" show on the Wonder (right?)- that would be cool. We do have a dry dock before our cruise, so there would be time during dry dock for some of these big changes.

I really should get back to work, but I don't want to! Our computer system is acting up and causing all sorts of problems...

You're right though - the current deck party is a great tie-in for the movies (which Jay and I have never seen ... some day we will crawl out from underneath our rock) and I know the kids have a blast at it. I'd just like something new.

And you know ... we never make it to any shows on the cruise. Not usually interested in them so we end up at Cove Cafe or the Spa or the martini bar before dinner.

BTW...when does she return to her latest TR?

Hopefully this week if the power stays on and the fingers cooperate. I had to drop the naproxen to once a day because it was messing with my stomach and now my fingers are getting stiff again. Somebody call the waaaaaaahmbulance!

For the KK1ers who have been asking about Kira...

Kira Update

She is doing really well, walking everywhere, not so wobbly anymore. She's really starting to talk! She does a lot of animal sounds, especially Woof Woof and Meow since we have some of those woof woofs and meows IN the house and she says it everytime she sees them She has ten teeth now, two of which are molars that just came in! (rough few days there!) She is fascinated with books and hates veggies, (just like her mom ) and learns things SO quickly, it's almost scary!

I will try to post some pics soon!

Brenda - it used to be Tropicalifragilisticexpialidocious Deck Party before Pirates in The Caribbean. It was a lot better.

I like your idea of a tropical deck party...add in some Konk Koolers and I'm there!

We saw all 3 movies - I would have been happy if they had made the first one and stopped. For me, the second and third movies had a different tone, and style, which I didn't like as much. But overall they were pretty good.

Now that we've seen the shows, if they're the same, it would free up some time for us to enjoy other areas of the ship in the evening. Our first night, we had a hot tub to ourselves at an almost empty adult pool area (well, it WAS drizzling, but we were under cover!). I wouldn't mind more evenings like that!

I'm ready for a change too...to the pirate party and the shows. They got rid of our fave show...Hercules. That being said, we will probably dress up as pirates if they have it again.

Reggae/Caribbean music is a great place to start. I love steel drums.

When we sailed in August 2004 our sailing was the 2nd or 3rd time the "Pirate IN the Caribbean Party" was held, no fireworks back then though. It was neat and something new, but by 2009, I'd be ready to see something different as well.
