10/24/2009 Bash on the Boat - Thread #1 Part 3

It's turning out to be a little more than we had first planned. Because our house and yard are both small, we decided to rent a hall for the party. With renting the hall, more people are getting invited, which means more food will be needed. It's going to be on a Saturday evening, so we are going with lunchmeats, cheese, salads, that kind of stuff. This is what we were planning on doing for her Sweet 16 in 2006, but she opted for the cruise instead. Oh yea, she also put in a request for a laptop as her graduation gift..........:rolleyes1

I'm getting Sean a laptop too for graduation.

As for the party though, we're skipping that, as agreed to by him.

Sean doesn't have a lot of friends to invite, and I've have no family that I speak to, so there wouldn't be many people to invite anyway.
But the cost of shipping his stuff down to Florida, both of us flying down for orientation, a hotel for me to stay in during that week and $ for meals, transportation, etc. then airfare for me to fly home will cost about as much as a graduation party would.
Luckily Sean understands all this and is ok with it.:)

As long as he gets his graduation laptop;)

Since I won't be on here tomorrow:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY THOMAS!

Bye all,
Have a great weekend!

We're off to see a play tonight, then I'm camping over at Bob's tonight while
Sean is doing a camp-in in the museum.
Tomorrow we'll be doing some superbowl stuff:rolleyes: like I care?

I'll be a good sport though I promise:cheer2:

Everyone have fun:thumbsup2

At first, Angelina asked for a more expensive laptop and no party, then the other night she asked if we were still going to give her a party if she selected a less expensive laptop. I told her we would give her so many $$ for what we were going to pay for a laptop and if she still wants the more expensive one, she can use $$ that she gets for graduation and put towards it, she was fine with that.

Hazel and I both come from rather large families, I'm one of 5 and Hazel is one of 7, with most of them still living in the area. Angelina also has a list of friends she wants to invite, this party is getting larger by the day.......

Gee, maybe I should have just got her the laptop she first asked about......:lmao:

Hazel and I are going to a local community theatre next Saturday to see Hello Dolly. The theatre group is doing 6 plays this year. We bought the season pass, which means we get to see all 6 shows for the price of 3, not a bad deal, plus we got to see the Christmas Show for free this past December.

We'll be spending tomorrow night here at home. Neither Hazel, nor Angelina, are into football, so I'll be watching the game by myself.

I was thinking about Rob the other day when I couldn't find a DJ for our JR high dance. The kids waited til the last minute to decide that they wanted a dance. I got the great pleasure of making the announcement that the dance had been canceled, all the while wishing you guys lived closer.

Rob doesn't do too many school dances because they normally have a very small budget and also because kids are always into the top 40 which is hard to keep up with music-wise. He's one of the few DJ's that still buy original CD's. Most DJ's here buy copied CD complilations which are cheaper but the quality sucks. Rob is HUGE on quality.

He also gives super duper discounts to friends and family :cool1:

My laptop just had me upgrade to Explorer 7. Any tips that I should know?
It did have a phishing sp? filter. I turned that on. I've heard that this is one of the newest scams on the I-net.

Anyone else on tonight?

goodyfreak made some promises? Where are you?:confused3

After my comments about the gold suit the other night, the WVU coach has on a WVU pullover tonight with a collar shirt underneath. Big change!
:happytv:

Also, we've already had a few dunks!:cool1: :cool1:

When I send DCL postcards out to the little tykes, I use the word "boat" as well. I don't want the little ones saying they are going on the Mickey Shi_ by mistake..........:lmao:

It was funny, before our May 2006 cruise. My niece's husband always said "boat" and everytime I heard him say it, I would say "ship." One time I slipped around him and said "boat" did he ever tease me about that slip up..........:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I also remember a thread here on the DIS about calling the Wonder and the Magic a ship or a boat. Some people got hot under the collar on that thread.

I guess we'll have to change the name of our thread then to "BOS" and "I'm with my BOS" if you are going to make us refer to it as a ship then. :rotfl2:

I know I was thinking about that this afternoon, the "BOS" doesn't sound very good does it? :sad2:

Jeff, did you get to visit your grandmother today?

Woody suggested S.O.S- Studs on the Ship :sad2: I promptly boxed his ears and made him go fold the clothes.:laundy: Cinderfella!

Sorry, Andy, I was watching DS play on the Wii.

No, we didn't go up to GB today. It was snowing up there and we got some down here.

Suz has dinner on the table, so I'll be back on in about 20-30 minutes.

Will you be on tonight?

snott or bob or whatever...........;)

I'll be on and off, I'm getting ready to take Angelina to her friend's house, then I'll be back until it's time to pick her up.

What is your favorite activity on the cruise ship?

What is your favorite excursion?

I love the shows. I feel like we get to go "out" every night.

My favorite excursion has been the thrill boat ride I did with Alex in Key West. We had a blast. For the eastern though, it would have to be Trunk Bay.
