Thanks for taking the time to read, Sistah!

I'm glad you got a laugh out of the donut / fritter debate ... it was supposed to be funny.

I have never cared for hushpppies but those boulettes sound tasty ... I could standing smacking Grimace with a few of those! :rotfl2:

...I thought about you last night. At my Bunko, a friend was telling me that she thinks in September, she and I and others might be able to volunteer at the local winery here---stomping grapes! I think that would be such fun!:cool1:

there are some wineries around here that have weekend Grape stompings in the Fall ... I'm not sure how much I would enjoy that to tell the truth. I don't like wet, squishy stuff around my feet ... even when the by-product is a tasty, alcoholic beverage. :lmao:

Maybe if you had the tasty, alcoholic beverage first, you wouldn't mind so much the wet, squishy stuff around your feet. :thumbsup2

OK, last post because I really have to get to work.

I'll try to post some pics tonight that Jay took while he was driving home from work yesterday. The flooding along I-370 was lapping up against the highway's shoulder for a good five miles. To give you guys some idea of where this is in relation to where we live ... it's about 10 miles, give or take, from our house. We're situated on higher ground on the opposite side of I-70, which the I-370 loop dumps onto around 8 miles from our house.

We're not in any danger of flooding from anything other than our backyard, thank goodness. But a huge portion of St. Charles County and Lincoln County are under water. Supposedly there is only one Mississippi River levy left in Lincoln county that is holding - all the rest have busted during the last two weeks.

The worst of it is that there is rain forecast to the north of us for the rest of the week and the rivers are going to be running high for at least another month. It's beginning to look more and more like the flood we had in 1993, only hitting some different areas this time around on top of some of the same areas that got walloped the last time.

I wish I could get some pictures of the riverfront downtown ... even though it's below the record from 1993 it's still cresting around 38 feet, which is about 10 feet over flood stage. Interestingly enough that's only considered "moderate" flooding. :confused3

That's today's flood patrol report ... stay tuned for more sogginess as it happens.

Oh, how special. VJ sounds like she has a good head on her shoulders to have already thought of a Godmother. It took us awhile to come up with one. I think Mackenzie was 6 months old before we took that step. So did Lina give her an answer or is she still thinking about it?

Lina said "Yes" after the shock wore off. Lina is already planning about gifts for the baby shower, I hope she starts working soon so she can pay for them.....:rotfl2:

Hey, don`t mock the Canadian!!! :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

We are neighbours and we have to love and honour each other. Sometimes we paint with different colours but we all labour to come together no matter how many kilometres apart we are. It`s no rumour that we`re not as glamourous as our southern neighbours but we still have a certain northern flavour.

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

Love it!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

For the ladies only - men you have been warned!

ps - this is off another website - its not me!

There is not a woman alive today who won't crack up over this!

I was due for a smear with the doctor later in the week. Early one morning, I received a call from the doctor's office to tell me that I had been rescheduled for that morning at 9:30 am. I had only just packed everyone off to work and school, and it was already around 8:45 am. The trip to his office took about 35 minutes, so I didn't have any time to spare.

As most women do, I like to take a little extra effort over hygiene when making such visits, but this time I wasn't going to be able to make the full effort. So, I rushed upstairs, threw off my pyjamas, wet the facecloth that was sitting next to the sink, and gave myself a quick wash in that area to make sure I was at least presentable. I threw the facecloth in the clothes basket, donned some clothes, hopped in the car and raced to my appointment.

I was in the waiting room for only a few minutes when I was called in. Knowing the procedure, as I'm sure you do, I hopped up on the table, looked over at the other side of the room and pretended that I was in Paris or some other place a million miles away. I was a little surprised when the doctor said, "My, we have made an extra effort this morning, haven't we?"

I didn't respond.

After the appointment, I heaved a sigh of relief and went home. The rest of the day was normal - some shopping, cleaning, & cooking.

After school when my 7 year old daughter was playing, she called out from the bathroom, "Mummy, where's my facecloth?"

I told her to get another one from the cupboard.

She replied, "No, I need the one that was here by the sink, it had all my glitter saved inside it."

NEVER going back to that doctor ever!!

Just think of this next time you go for a smear

So, still no answer if my flight will still be around for my outbound for the repo.

The airline is obviously in worse shape than originally thought. They are asking for major cuts from the pilots and are not only removing the MD-80 planes because they say they are inefficient (were going to only fly the new 717), but they are planning on grounding 5 of the 25 717's now.

I checked our flight to LAX. There are 98 people on board right now. The two flights out of Kansas City only have 67 seats open. Needless to say I'm watching this several times a day to jump on the flights as soon as they pull this non-stop.

I did call the airline and have DS's reservation linked to Suz and mine (we're flying on FF miles and DS is on his own record because he is using his own mils).

Too bad Cheryl isn't around to talk about this one. Midwest was one of the airlines we were looking at getting a group rate on for the BOB. Guess we'll have to look at AirTran.

Hey Brenda, I enjoyed reading your latest blog post thingy. I laughed when you talked about fritters/doughnuts. In the South (and maybe elsewhere) we have hush puppies and my favorite--boulettes. I'm sure you know about hush puppies (they must have those in St Louis), but boulettes are awesome, too. They are like hush puppies but are stuffed with shrimp or crab or crawfish--so good it makes you want to slap yo mama!:cool1:

Hush Puppies are shoes in the UK:rotfl:
