Well, it's been a real hoot talking to myself here. Guess I'll go back to work and talk to myself there instead. Yay!!! More fun times. I can barely take all this fun!! :goodvibes

my turn to talk to myself. hey, i'm used to it.:cool1: :rolleyes1 pirate:

I pulled the trigger and secured the back up flight. We are now flying AirTran into Las Vegas the night before our original departure to Los Angeles.

It is only $75 for the rental car from LV to the Alamo office near DL. We can get a room in LV off the strip for $40. The cost of the FF tickets is only $25.50 ($2.50 each for 9/11 fees and $6.00 each for seat selection - not rolling the dice with 3 different confrimations  ).

We'll still get into the hotel near DL the same afternoon as the original flight would have gotten us there. We may take our time before we leave LV since Suz' really good friend lives out there (might do breakfast or lunch with them before heading out on the 3 1/2 hour drive).

That is a relief for us now. Doesn't matter what happens in two weeks with the airline, we're set. :cool1:

O.K., time to cut the grass. Talk to y'all tonight.

Good news Jeff

It will always be "MGM" to me too! We were there the year it opened (on our honeymoon!) So, it will be hard for me to think otherwise!

Another difficult one: Disneyland Paris was originally called "EuroDisney". So, even though I hadn't gone there yet at the time, I still tend to think that way!

Ys, we still call it Eurodisney.

Heather, Jeff, Becky and afeg,

Lately, I keep reading about Palo being unavailable to book online for brunch.
If no one can book, that will be one heck of a long line in Rockin D Bar before your EB Repo. You guys better bring snacks for the long wait. Or....maybe the bar will be open for business instead.

Good luck to all of you. Hope you're all able to snag the ressie of choice. :thumbsup2

Yep...we're getting there early to get an early number and get to RDB asap.

:headache: :headache:
oh no jen mouse.:wizard: :wizard:
better get a battery backup for that sump pump. we had one at the house before we downsized. worked pretty good.:thumbsup2
hope you didnt get too much water.:wizard:

I will have to look into that....

fortunately, we didn't get a lot of water....but our electrical bill has been going up having to run the dehumidifier so much....

Jeff,

Did you see the news today about Midwest cutting 40% of their staff???:scared1:

I think you'll be glad to have a backup plan....

HS is Hollywood Studios ... they changed the name of MGM to Disney Hollywood Studios last fall. Personally I think it's a stupid name and I will continue to refer to the park as MGM. But that's just me being difficult. ;)

seems to me, i recall a CM tell us years ago that disney entered into this park needing the help (attraction wise, of mgm)so they had a 10 or 15 year deal.
Disney was in a race to get their park open first after universal had announced they were building in FL.:wizard:
as for the name change...:confused3 i'm guessing disney didnt like having that mgm title on their logo all these years anyway.
but it will always be disney/mgm to us too.:wizard: :wizard:

Candyman here....No need for that. I am here for a little bit.

sorry candyman...misssed ya again. i'll be bouncing around all week again as lots of guys are on vacation and while its not mandatory, i try to help out and work extra.:rolleyes1
may as well make some extra $$$ in case we do go on strike.

i'm still waiting for disney to take my idea and open a new park.:wizard:
take all the old rides they close down. dismantle them, put them in a new park for us oldtimers...
just think, mr. toad, kitchen kabret, the original journey into imagination.
if you had wings, horizons, etc that would be some great park, eh?:wizard:

Yep, brunch was unavailable for all of us. I've read on the WB Repo that the line extended all the way out from RBD to Guest Service and took over an hour (and that was from the point between the two staircases  ).

This is why we plan on getting there early and especially before the DS buses get there.

Have you been reading this is a problem on all cruises or just the repos? :confused3

If it is all, I will be p'd next year if I don't get it again. On the repo, we have more than twice as many days for Palo Brunch, yet the same number of passengers. I don't see why they couldn't accommodate everyone.

tell that little sweetie uncle mike said STAY AWAY FROM BOYS!!! they're trouble.:cutie:
of couse cassie didnt listen to me.:headache: :lmao:

It's the darn girls that cause all the trouble in this house. Ds # 2 got home friday from 5 weeks away at ROTC. The girlfriend was at my house before we were home from the airport. Saturday they went to the movies, yesterday they went shopping and then the party and today he went back to Tallahasse with her. He needs to get back to work. Mom & Dad don't have those WI trees. So I guess they will be back next week end. ugh...... Just wanted some down time with my own kid......

Good news Jeff

Now I just need to decide if I want to fly in to LV and take no chance on the LA flight if the original airline is still around (there is the 13 hours difference between the backup and the original. Probably should have put the backup after the original, but we wouldn't have gotten in until Friday - i.e. we'd miss going to DL).

Then, to top it off, I'm thinking I might want the one night in LV. We won't get there this year anyways.

Not sure how I should look at this if we don't fly the original airline and they didn't go under. Is it that I blew 3 FF tickets only or do I look at it that the 3 FF tickets on the backup airline could have been used for a flight later (minimum $125 value, so $375). I can tell you that if I had to book last minute and pay (meaning no FF seats available) it would cost me a lot more than $375.

May not have to worry about it, the original airline announced today they are laying off 1,200 employee (40%) by mid-September. In earlier stories (end of June, beginning of July), they said they'd run out of cash in 30 days if the unions didn't give wage cuts. They're not budging, so my guess is they'll strike. Not sure if the airline will go Chapter 11 (reorganization) or Chapter 7 (go out of business). Either way, I think the next two weeks are critical.

We couldn't get brunch either for the member cruise in Sept. DH was on right at 11. We tried on the 90 day then again on the 75. Every one on that thread was complaining. Some got it but not many. We will be there when it opens. But I am not spending 2 hours on line for food!!! I will have chicken fingers. It's only 4 days and every minute counts.

I just posted about that. Sorry I didn't read your post first. I heard about it this morning. I don't think it is the end of it from them. I think they are just leading up to the bankruptcy in a couple of weeks.

As I said, I may just take the backup and forego my FF seats on MW. The miles didn't cost us anything to begin with, so no loss. We used every possible means to collect the points free.

If anyone is looking for a good credit card point program to protect yourself from losing miles, look into the Drivers Edge (or other Citibank) card. They have that thank you network. You can use your points for a ton of different things. And the Drivers Edge (some others also) give bonuses for Gas/Grocery/Drug Store purchases (6% first year, 3% after that) plus a normal 1% on everything else. Not a bad deal seeing that Gas and Groceries are the biggest budget items we have.

You only had one day available to you then. I bet with it being a members cruise and a lot of repeats, everyone was on at the 90 day mark.

Of the people who got ressies, were they in suites by chance?

I'm wondering if DCL is holding back on ressies for Brunch for some reason?

I know what you mean Andy. Me too. :sad1: It's the same old, same old around here today. Very depressing. :sad2:

I just stopped by the house for a quick bite of dinner, now I'm heading back out the door, these Business Books are a killer and I still have more pit meters to read. I don't know when I will get done today........:confused3 :confused3 :confused3
