Once the coach arrived, we took a helicopter flight over the rim. It was spectacular.

Ok,ok don't rub it in, we also had the chopper trip booked and then tried for the mule one except,well you know why that one was out of the question.....

I know they are dangerous, but the few programmes I've watched on the topic made we more intrigued rather than frightened.

We had a tornado go through our area a few years back, it twisted the cherry tree we had in our backyard like a toothpick. The tree landed on our neighbor's shed and crushed it. We don't get tornadoes around here very often, so we don't have anykind of warning system like a lot at areas do.

Doing better, thanks for asking cyber-man of my dreams! Easing my way down the hill now that the day is almost over. I'll be stuck in loan committee for most of tomorrow morning and then I can pretty much go back to being a normal schmoe for the rest of the week (barring any emergencies).

Luckily wind damage is covered under a standard homeowners policy here - it's things like water damage (flood insurance) and earthquakes that you have to carry a separate rider on. And then like all insurance companies, when you have an emergency and try to get some help they find an obscure clause to fall back on and deny coverage.

What a racket ... wish I'd thought of it first ...

I especially like the second one.

We had severe thunderstorms and tornado warnings this evening. I swear I drove through either a tornado forming or the periphery of one on the way home. The winds were gusting at 60 mph. All sorts of debris was in the air, mostly tree branches and leaves. They were flying around without hitting the ground for the most part. It was spooky. Lightning was hitting three and four bolts simultaneously. That's as close as I ever want to come to a tornado. Lots of car accidents, trees split or uprooted. Some minor house damage in our neighborhood (siding and shingles coming off). I had to pick the girls up from school because the went into lockdown and the buses were delayed. They kept all the kids in the interior hallways for 45 minutes during the tornado warning.

We all made it home.

Holy crap, you guys stay safe ok!!! I've always been fascinated with storms but I guess once you actually have to go through them...not so much fun!

Our first ever Disney Cruise we had to dodge two hurricans and a tropical storm. The Captain decided to put is foot down out of Port Canaveral. Lets just say that when we looking round the two shops...one minute you were in Mickey's Mates and the next minute you arrived in Treasure Ketch

The welcome aboard show was interesting too. The curtains were swaying with the motion of the sea and the juggler in the show, carried on with his routine - blanacing on a see saw whilst juggling a bowling ball, chain saw and apple. Amazing.

Have either of the ships ever not made it back on time (same day) due to severe weather?

(Maybe a lot of people thinking of being "stuck" onboard for an extra day. Not to mention the people who would depart late for the next cruise.)

The cruise that sailed the week after our cruise in August 2004 had an extra 3 days added to their cruise because of a hurricane. They had to go to Texas to refuel. That was the Magic's "first ever 10 day cruise."

believe it or not we talked about that too.
i have a week off then too. the only thing thats holding us back from that is we are expecting grandchild #2 to be born around that time.
due date sept 4.

speaking of our grandson. they are in serious discussions over his name.
michael wanted to name him brock or blake, but courtney vetoed those names. anyone got any ideas for a boys name?(winner gets a smoothie in the name underdogs grandkid contest)

I forgot to mention, friends of ours were on the cruise that followed that unplanned 10 day cruise, they wound up spending a few days at WDW waiting to get on the Magic, plus they got a discount for a future cruise since their 7 day cruise was cut short.

I am in Southern New Jersey, just across the Delaware River from Philly.

In fact, the street that I live on ends at Red Bank Battlefield (Fort Mercer) which is along the Delaware River, from there I can watch the planes take off and land at Philly Airport. http://nj.searchroots.com/Gloucesterco/redbank.html
