10/24/2009 Bash on the Boat (I'm with B.O.B.) - Thread #29

Not sure if this information has been posted or if it is on the main cruise board anywhere...

I had emailed DCL about the Halloween activities...I wanted to get an answer on Thomas's lightsaber (yes, he can bring it but it needs to be in the checked luggage) and the email mentioned that the festivities would be on St. Thomas night for the Eastern Caribbean cruises. Just thought some of the planning geeks (like me) would like that information!

We had a few moments of excitement around here yesterday too when Kristin and Jesse futzed around with our reservations too. They are trying to exchange their cruise tickets for tickets for Christmas time and Air Tran was being less than accomodating. But, a few hours later and a phone call from moi, I think we got a pretty good deal and our reservations remain unscathed. Whew!

good job Nancy! I know how bad those airlines can be. Bob still cannot get rid of that international ticket from Shawna not coming here in August.
Too long of a story, but he's already lost money on it and no one still wants to buy it even at a reduced price

All this talk about packing...I am not even close. I will pack our stuff on the 22nd, the day before we leave for FL.

Me too Paige. I'd rather that way, then it's still fresh in my brain what I've packed and what I might have forgotten.
That day is my regular day off from work anyway so I'll have the entire day to sort everything out and clean house before I go.

yes, I wore them three nights in May, the first one since luggage had not arrived, Pirate night and the last night since I packed everything.

Cant come quick enough. Working so hard at work i am going to meet myself coming backwards if not careful. At least the days are flying by.

You won't forget our FE will you

You totally hit a neuron in my brain! I've been working on Tag gifts and hadn't even pulled out our FE!!!! I took it out and had to add some puffy paint: it had EPCOT VA on it but not Tinkerbell.RN. I wasn't a DISer for our other cruises. It does have all of our names on it, but it didn't have my DISname. So, now the paint is drying and then it will be added to the packing pile!

So much to do, so little time!

Something non cruise related... I have to brag on my oldest DD who just started middle school this year....

She is in all honors classes and is a really smart girl but was diagnosed with Aspergers and ADHD at the very end of 5th grade. She's taking meds for the ADHD and we were waiting to see how it would affect school - grades, making friends, etc.

Well - her progress report shows that she has As in ALL of her classes (she's normally a A/B student - but mostly B...). Plus, she is going to the first school dance tonight with a few friends.

I'm so proud of her (when I don't want to strangle her for being a mouthy, annoying pre-teen!!)

I was skipping around the thread (since I can't keep up!) It's great to hear she is doing well! I'm still sitting on the fence with Sarah and ADD meds. She heard the doctor talking about the side-effects and risks and is afraid to take them. I mostly need to figure out how to get her to be more organized. Of course, I'll have to put her dad on that task - organized is definitely NOT my middle name!

Megan had her first Middle School Dance last Friday. Mostly she chatted with her friends. But, it was a nice treat for her!

Yep, unfortunately.

What really bumms me is that we really treat those coming into the country Legally, rather poorly. Whereas those entering illegally, free medical care, free schooling, let us count you in our census... etc.

Funny as heck. I would often drop for months at a time and catching up was hard to do, so reading all those was often the first time for me. So much that I completely missed!

Who is the next BOBer to leave for vacation? Is it Cass on Thursday? Who's next after that??
