10/24/2009 Bash on the Boat (I'm with B.O.B.) - Thread #27

Although I should thank her. We had a 2000 Ford Windstar minivan that she totalled a few months before I was going to trade it in in 2005. We got $7500 for the settlement on it. I thanked her! Those cars were pretty bad as far as resale value went, I probably would have been lucky to get $2000 for trade in on it!

The funny thing is...

3 months after we got a brand new Toyota minivan, she hits a deer!

The joke is, if you want a new car, let Elaine drive it!

She isn't a bad driver, but for a couple of years she had the worst luck. A few months after hitting the deer she was stopped at the bottom of a hill and a runaway car with no driver (the e-brake failed) rolled down the hill, almost hit her as she was getting into the car, and hit our full size van. Luckily, the van is a one ton 3500 and had a big solid real axle. The damage was only $1200 or so.

It actually survived! Those are tough animals, colliding with a 4200 lb minivan going 35 or so mph.

And yes, the dear has had better days!

My sister just sent me a text asking a question. I told her I would refer to my DIS friends.

She was wondering what are the odds of Carousel of Progress being open for the 10/31 MNSSHP or even in the hours before the party actually starts.

Anyone have any ideas?

I know, we will miss seeing everyone, but we couldn't pass up the nice offer we got.

I ended up doing pretty well with my POR ressie too.
