The first day went off without a hitch! As it turns out, the 4th grade teachers will be rotating, so Alex will have 3 teachers this year. I am happy about that.

So you and DS have big plans, eh?

That's one of the reasons we chose the school we did for DS, in 6th - 8th grade they rotate around. For a private school the size they are, it is not common.

As for plans, nothing really tomorrow, maybe bowling and a movie on Friday, but Saturday we go to my brother's through Monday evening. We'll probably bike (there is an old train tunnel we want to bike through), go canoeing, and then water/theme park on Monday. There will also be a lot of Wii playing this weekend.

So Jeff, I saw that you and Steve were talking about upgrades. Although we are happy with our choice (really I wanted a verandah, but I didn't want to fork over the dough) of cat 11, room 6567, the idea of upgrading intrigues me. When DCL is handing out upgrades, is it usually a 3 category jump? I would love to get upgraded, but I don't want a cat 9 on decks 1 or 2..

Just wondering and procrastinating loading the dishwasher...

When I got my upgrade, it was only 2 categories, but the others on my cruise got 3 categories. It all varies.

I wouldn't turn down a Deck 2 Cat 9. We book those rooms when SPH is not available. I think the rooms are nice.

I didn't think they were though.

I think it must me like us getting a filling. It just feels weird for a couple of days until you are used to it. That's my guess.

Usually upgrades follow a simple pattern. Insides to portholes, portholes to veradahs, but the Cat 5 and 6's get upgraded to cat 4 and cat 4 can get upgraded to cat 3. On the KK cruise we were upgraded 4 categories to a cat 5. I was thrilled. It was a good location too.

I'm pretty happy with our location, (it;s the same one that I picked out for the KK cruise but was upgraded out of.) But, I'll not whine if I get a verandah.

Busy night here! We must all be getting excited - or perhaps with the reappearance of Jeff after missing for a while, we got inspired to chitty-chat.

I'm sitting here listening the DisRadio (just discovered it and LOVE it!!) and working on my FE gifts... so much FUN!!!! Dave wants me to finish because I've got a mess everywhere, but I know he loves watching me have so much fun.

Jealous of all you who have kids who started school - we still have 3 weeks from yesterday (the day after labor day). YUCK!!!

They actually rotated out for spelling and math last year in 3rd grade.

Becca won't rotate until she gets to 4th grade where they go to a different math class based on whether it's advanced or not... but they do leave for "resource" (Library, Music, Art, Computer)

Abby is going to have so much to learn - went to Middle School orientation last night and learned about her "block" schedule. She should get the hang of it pretty quickly - I think it will take ME a while to figure it out!!

Almost forgot - ordered a couple of dresses for the cruise from JCPenney and they came in today. One dress was NOT cool, but my "formal" dress is really pretty!!! Dave and the girls all approved of it - cute "little black dress"

I tried doing stairs on the Repo, but my legs were killing me by about day 3 or 4. The elevators were not that bad though.

However, Deck 6 Mid-ship is ideal. In the SPH rooms, we're Deck 5 Forward Lifts. That is a great location too. The Forward elevators aren't that far from midship, but no one really uses them except when getting on/off the ship. On Deck 3, you have to go through Beat Street and people don't do that. Except for after a show in the theatre, they are usually quiet.
