Rick got really burnt last year at Castaway. He di a lot of snorkling and forgot/didn't think about putting lots of sunscreen on the backs of his legs. He was in agony for days later. Pharmacist at Target recommended some cream which really helped. He won't forget again, but a painful way to learn.

We always take aloe vera and apply it after showering - really helps:thumbsup2 What cream did he get Heather? I dont rate the stuff we get over here much. It might be worth me getting a tube.

Well, I am totally sick of being soggy this week. It seems that every darned time I leave the house it rains:rolleyes:

Its been grey and raining here for a week or two now. Barely an inch of blue sky:sad2:

Can anyone please throw some sunshine our way?:flower3:

Karen, I just climbed to the top of my 85 foot ladder truck at the fire department with sunshine, and I am throwing at you. Hopefully the breeze will carry it all the way over to you.

Not to rub salt into your wounds Karen, but we've got sunshine, but very strong winds.

I got a very bad burn in Mexico in 2001 (which is when I discovered SPF 30 is not good enough for me in the tropics) and it hurt to even put the aloe vera on!

We usually bring aloe vera with us too....and now I don't buy anything lower than SPF 45. I got an SPF 60 for myself last summer - I was pretty happy with it.

It was an hydrcortazone (sp!) cream called Tucks. Commonly used for itchy areas!!!!

MG, if you're still here....

Do you happen to know if sunscreen goes "bad" or is less effective over time? I'm just wondering if my sunscreen from last summer is ok or if I need to buy new bottles?

Thank you for the help. I think I figured it out. I am not as dumb as I thought I was. Lol. Well, maybe I am.

BUY NEW every year Jen. I know the good stuff is expensive, but it's sooooo worth it. :thumbsup2

That's what I thought, and I usually do.

Is no-ad brand usually pretty good? Do you have any recommended brands? I haven't done research in a while....

You betcha. I have the "professional" explanation here from page one for you:

In case anyone is wondering what the FO game we play here on the B.O.B. cruise meets thread, here is the explanation:
FO is a game (for lack of a better description) that was started on the Konked Kruiser thread that some of us belonged to for the October 07 cruise. The term FO was started by afeg.

Anyway, the game in a nutshell....if you post, and your post is the beginning of a page, then you try to get the second post on the page also. It means you have started a "Fresh One".

Now, this isn't always as easy as it seems - if there are multiple posters on at the same time, and someone else gets the second post, you don't get to "claim the FO". The 40 second rule between postings comes into play.

Sorry - you threw me with adding it immediately after "Florida residency"

thanks!

I have a prescription sun-block Jen, but for my face I use ONLY Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunblock...spf 45. Then I use Bare Minerals spf 30 Natural Sunscreen on top of that.

Really though, according to my Oncologist anything after spf 45 is a marketing gimmick. The key is to lather it on and re-apply often.:thumbsup2

It also helps to wear a hat. :cutie:
