Good Morning All,
Just wanted to give a little more details about yesterday and last evening.
The day was quiet, didn't do much until left to go to Emmy's Time Out Tavern for dinner. From what my mom told me every third Sunday of the month
Emmy's has a special German Day at her place, with a special menu selected just for that day. A German band comes in to play and their is also a little dance
floor at Emmy's.
The food, amotsphere, and company was wonderful. A few of my mom's and Walt's friends, as well as Walt's daughter Gail and her husband Harlin joined us
yesterday, making our group 10 in all. I did get some pics at the table of our group and some of the food that was served, but I will have to wait and post them later.
The soup of the day was Split Pea, followed by a tomato/onion/cabbage salad that was absolutely delicious. The salad can be made to choice by having any one,
two or three of the items I listed. I selected to go with all three. Fresh baked bread was also served.
For my meal, I selected the Wiener Schnitzel, it was pan-fried until golden brown and was served with German Potatoes & Red Cabbage. Everything was so
good, and the Red Cabbage was so tasty.
Hazel selected Eisbein, which was a Pork Shank with Sauerkraut. When Hazel's plate arrived I thought she was going to pass out. The pork shank was almost as big
as she was, LOL!!! Needless to say, the way Hazel eats, most of her dinner came back to the trailer with us.
Lina selected the Jager Schnitzel, this is served with mushrooms and onions in their own special sauce.
We were way to full to order any desserts, as mostly all in our group, brought doggie bags home.
Hazel took Lina's camera and took a little video of the. The band started playing "The Chicken Dance" Hazel grabbed Lina's hand and out to the dance
floor they went. That's when I grabbed Lina's camera and got that on video. I have to wait until we get back home and load Lina's videos into my laptop
as Lina forgot to bring her camera's USB cable with her.
As I mentioned last evening, after dinner we headed back to the trailer. The traffic, headed east, towards the coast was unbeliveable. We kept up to date with
the shuttle's expected launch time. At 7:40 we headed out into the front yard to see what we could of the launch. Although we couldn't hear the shuttle
take off, the dogs in the area sure could. Exactly at 7:43, the dogs started barking like crazy, then a few seconds later we could see a trail of smoke,
then three little bright light spots in the sky, as that was just when the solid rocket boosters were falling away from Discovery. We stood there watching
until the Discovery was completely out of sight, which didn't take very long at all.
We then came back into the house, and popped in "Lina's First Birthday" video into the VCR. To look back on that day, brought wonderful memories, and also
a few tears, especially when we saw some loved ones who have passed on.
What a "DAY" we had!!!
I am not sure what is on tap for today...........
