Sorry Folks.......the bottom finally dropped from underneath me and I also feel like I got kicked in the gut this morning at work. :headache: With the "reduction" of "additional salary" starting in April  there is no way that Hazel and I will be able to cruise anytime soon. :sad2:

I wish I could express how sick to my stomach I am feeling right now. If I had been turning 55 next month, instead of April 2010, I would have been filling out my retirement papers before the end of the day.

Hang in there til the last moment. As everyone has expressed, you never know what can happen. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.........

It was great but yeah I didn't realise he was so unhappy aswell.. but as much as he hates being on it if he looked back and realized how it helped them to not go bankrupt he would change his tune.. having that many kids is pretty scary but Kate is amazing at organizing.. even if she comes across alittle harsh sometimes.. with that many kids you would need to be a bit firm. Did you watch the one with 12 kids?.. that one dosen't flow well for me...

I just watched it last night, does he realize how lucky they are to spend that much quality time with his kids. If they didn't have the show he would be owrking two jobs to support all of them. They would never be able to do all the traveling and front row seats to every thing. He needs to count his blessing one for the show and the other that they are all healthy!!

Sorry- off soap box now.

Good morning everyone! No school for the kids today. I think it is a teacher professional day. Elaine and I are going to drag them to work with us in the morning. They better be good and entertain themselves in the computer lab! After lunch, I think I will do some yardwork, put the wagon on the tractor, pick up some brush, some leaves that blew against the fence during the winter, etc.

I'll probably pop on periodically throughout the day. I have to run to Walmart now to take a look at DS birthday gift. His birthday is April 5th, but we are having his party on Saturday. We are buying him a basketball hoop for the driveway. Elaine checked Toys R Us the other day, so I will check Walmart this morning to see which is cheaper.
We want to do one of the excursions to Trunk Bay and on St. Maarten we'll probably go to a beach on our own.
That's exactly what we are planning. My dad says there is a beach in St. Maarten that is close to the ship that they have went to on two previous Eastern cruises. We are going to go there and rent a couple of jetskis. He says there is a huge bay so there will be plenty of room to ride the jetskis around.

Why fly to Europe? Just book a roundtrip! :rotfl::rotfl2:

28 DAYS on the new Disney ship!:banana:

Prerequisites: Win the lottery, be unemployed (or retired), not have commitments that you can't walk away from for a month...

It would be a neat idea. But I understand that DCL had to commit to making Port Canaveral the home port for the new ship for an initial period of time as part of the port expansion project. I doubt that DCL would just sail the ship to Europe and quickly return since the crossings typically have low rates. It wouldn't be a very good money maker even if the ship was full. (At least compared to its alternate use during that 28 days, namely four 7 night cruises.)

Matthew
I was thinking right after the ship is done. Rather than sail to Port Canaveral empty, load it up with revenue paying, crazy Disney nuts that will pay top dollar to cruise across the pond and be the "first" people on the ship.

I wouldn't think DCL would do it as they would probably need some serious shakedown and training time, but it is a neat thought.

I will be totally happy to go on a sailing sometime in late October 2011. KK3 or BOB2.

I am sooo late working out tonight, I better get my butt moving onto that elliptical. Have a good night everyone :wave2:
I have been using an ellipitical at the gym the last couple of weeks. Its a much better workout than the treadmill and I am really enjoying it. I may have to actually wander into the gym on the cruise a time or two this time along!

Mine will be photos like last time. I have no skill when it comes to writing so photos all the way through mine:rolleyes1

Mine will be mostly pictures too, not much on the writing side. maybe I could get whitty kathy to be my ghost writer!!!!:worship:

Good morning Chicks!

Nice to see you back too Heather.

Chicks??? I'm here too. :lmao:

Yes, it is good to see Heather back as well.

Thanks Guys. Good to be back.

Rob and I haven't even talked much about excursions. I think because we won't have the kids with us, we're kinda laid back about the whole thing. If the kids would be coming, I probably would have it all planned out already.:rotfl:

We may end up playing it all by ear. I know that I hope to have at least one of the ports with no excursions planned. You know, just stroll around maybe go to the beach, drink some frozen drinks......:dance3:

Come with us then Paige...want to do Trunk Bay at St John and then a general tour of St Maarten.

My officemate is one of those 'helicopter' parents so I know exactly what you mean!

OK, ya got me. :confused3 What's a 'helicopter' parent?

A friend of ours started subbing in the last year or so. I certainly isn't easy. Especially when there are kids with behavioral issues. :sad2:

Matthew

No that was me, I emailed DCL the other day. They told me to request the private room 30 days out. It fits a max of 14. So there are three sea days. So we could have three groups of 14. As we get closer I will have every one who wants to go let me know and I will make the spread sheet. It's just names and room numbers.

You know you don't have to ask us:rotfl::rotfl:.

You have all our info don't you?
Dan

Lots of folks are mentioning the Trunk Bay excursion. This seems to be the most popular. :thumbsup2

We are thinking about trying to fit T-Rex in either before or after the cruise!

Paige are they taking ADRs for T-Rex now? They weren't in Dec. and every time we tried to get in then the wait was well over an hour. We did look in the store and could see a little of the restaurant from there and it looked quite impressive :cool1: I think I recently read somewhere that they now give a DVC discount so that would help decrease your bill!

When we went in Feb, they weren't taking ressies for lunch. Stated the didn't need to since demand was so low. We walked right in. You need ressies for Dinner though!

OK, ya got me. :confused3 What's a 'helicopter' parent?

Matthew

Helicopter parent is one who is constantly hovering over their children and not giving them much autonomy. They also seem to be fairly controlling toward anyone who has to do with their children. i.e. teachers, tutors, coaches, etc.

I have to admit that I can be this way at times. While I encourage my kids to make decisions for themselves, I do have a tendancy to not be 100% comfortable with them out of either my wifes or my sight.

I would love to be on that voyage. I would be glad to be a training prop

Sorry to here this Andy, and after rebooking again. I know it hurts now, but probably a sensible decision.

So who amoung us is writing a TR for the cruise? I believe Cass is and maybe Karen. Joanne is going to try her hand with her May cruise.

Anyone else?? I'm looking forward to a Pre-Trippie. :cool1:

Algae will Blog.

Could be a BOB group excursion at this rate.
I was thinking the same thing. We all better book it at 90 days out! :lmao:

Well I am off to work in a few minutes. I hope that I am not WebSensed today. I got an email response saying that they would look into it late yesterday afternoon. I hope I can get on and DIS while I work!
