Our latest sn*wfall total is 9.3" and it is still coming down here......:guilty:

Happy Monday :)

Arrived at our store this morning to a power outage! After sitting in the cold for an hour, most of us left and went to lunch. The store won't be able to open until 4 (maybe) so I get to use a sick day. Now I'm home watching Amazing Race from last night and making of list of the things I need to do before we leave on Wednesday for our Happy Place :)

I hope everyone that got dumped on with snow, is careful.

Annette :)

Oh no. I hope it doesn't ruin your trip.

The Milwaukee airport is over 13" already and it isn't stopping anytime soon. They said it will be up to 18" in some area from this freak storm.

The wierd thing is, the area it is hitting is so small. If you get to the west side of the county, only about 10 miles, there is nothing. Not sure if the map will update to new data, but here is what the snow fall looks like here:

On the good side, I won a bet with a co-worker. I bet lunch that we'd have one more storm this year that would be 10"+. Made the bet last week Wednesday. Didn't think it would pay off this quickly and in this fashion. I thought it would be another major storm coming in from the west. As long as I don't have to shovel or blow, I'm happy.

We are renting a car and returning it before the cruise and then renting another one after the cruise. :thumbsup2

But the reason I asked was because I am looking for a place to store Kira's car seat and full size stroller while we are on the cruise. I don't want to lug them onto the ship since we don't need them and we are staying in an inside cabin and just don't have the storage. I was just thinking if we could manage to find someone with a car that was just leaving it at the Radisson anyway, then maybe we could rent some space in their trunk :lmao: :thumbsup2

Cass,

We are driving and leaving our van at the port. You are welcome to store the carseat and stroller in it while we are on the cruise.

Here is the webcam from the Milwaukee airport:

Here is from the city 15-20 miles west (in the county where Nancy, Cheryl and I live):

You can kind of see that it is sunny on the buildings out there.

Edited: looks like the shots are still updating, so sorry if it doesn't show the effect of the snow. Some pics of the airport you can actually see it, and on other updates, it is a white-out.

I just saw this on The Weather Channel a few minutes ago, that is a freak storm.

Not a problem as long as is stays ALONG the lake. :thumbsup2

Although, MI, IN and OH get a lot off the lake in winter. I'm glad we're on this side. Not that often that we get lake effect. I never recalled it being this bad though.

Wow..really freak weather. As long as it stays away from you, eh Jeff?

Yep. I'm leaving from the office around 4:00 today. I'm about 2 miles from the lake at best, but about 9 miles north of downtown (15 miles or so north of the airport). Still have sun right now, but the office is about where the light grey and white bands meet on the lakeshore (to the top of the picture). Yet, we have nothing yet. If it comes, I hope it is after I leave.

Can you believe, they did not cancel a single school today. They'll close on 5", but get a storm like this and nothing closed. I think they blew through their snow days and would have to add to the end of the year if they close. You'd think for the safety of the kids, they would have just done that.

Breaded baked pork chops with baked potatoes and creamed corn for dinner, Bryan's brownies for dessert!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

What are you having tonight???

OK, I'm picking up speed now - I just finished the Tokyo Dining trip report for anyone who's interested.

Too late MG......

Went back after lunch and as I was walking through a yard to get to an outside reader I stepped into a hole in the snow covered yard with my right foot. The next thing I knew I had a sharp pain run up and down my leg and I heard a pop in my right knee. I'm home now and strapped to the heating pad. I did manage to finish the meter book I was working on though, only had six houses left to do when I stepped in the hole, so I stuck it out and finished, what a tropper I am.........

Funny thing is, while I was home for lunch, Hazel called and had my yearly knee x-rays scheduled to be taken next Monday, and my yearly visit to the orthopedic surgeon is scheduled for 3/24, a few days after we get back from Florida. I'm going to Florida, even if I have to be in a wheelchair or on crutches. I am getting out of Jersey, at least for one week this winter. ;)

Sorry, Hope I didn't jinx you Andy. :flower3:

Don't know if you know this Mimi, but I have had 7 knee surgeries over the years, 4 to the left knee and 3 to the right knee. The last surgery on my left knee was a partial knee replacement, that was in March 2001, that's why I have yearly check-ups. The surgeon said the partial replacement should last 8-10 years. It will be 8 years on March 13th since I had the partial replacement surgery.

The last two knee surgeries I had on my right knee were in April 2004 and August 2005, both due to slipping and falling on ice while, you guessed it, reading water meters. That's why I am so scared walking around in this kind of weather. I try so hard to be as safe as I can, but when you can't see the ice, or holes under the snow, it makes for interesting times.

Did you ever try Yak Traks Andy? http://http://cozywinters.com/ice-cleats/ice-cleats.html?source=go&gclid=CObIqYy2hZkCFRBN5QodH26zlwI have them and just love them. :thumbsup2
