The ONLY people that didn't fit in and people were looking at were the ones that wore shorts and tee shirts/tank tops in the dining rooms.

One lady on a recent cruise wore the same red shorts every night to dinner. How rude was that?

If you are going to eat in the dining room, make some kind of an effort! You absolutely don't need a gown/tux/suit...but a nice pair of pants and a nice shirt/blouse will do just fine!

I agree with you Cass and I'm sure you'll look lovely what ever you wear.

Need to stick together on this. We saw someone in a tropical shirt and shorts in Palo's this year and couldn't believe it.

In Sept on the Wonder they would not let some men in shorts in. They had to go change. It was nice to see them stick to the rules.

Boy, you said it! Comcast just raised my bill by $10 a month! :scared1: When I called them and asked them if they if they were doing this so I would move to another carrier, they said 'that's your choice!'. The is a stupid attitude because they are losing people to Verizon FiOS everyday, unfortunately, Verizon can't keep up with the demand. The Verizon FiOS (fibre optic) is actually faster than cable but they aren't offering it in my area yet. So I may switch to dish while I'm waiting.

I'm hanging out with you guys!!! I agree that formal night is fun and I hate it when people complain about getting dressed up. I also love to see all of the children dressed up with their parents and grandparents.

If you don't want to dress up, go have dinner at the buffet!!!

I really don't like to dress up, but those are the rules, I did enjoy my boys in shirts & ties. I have my token black dress.

As for Formal Night attire, you will see EVERYTHING that night! You will see tuxedos, gowns and tiaras and you will see shorts and tank tops.

Last year, since we had so much stuff with us, we decided to rent a tux for Rob and I wore two black dresses, one on formal night, the other on semi-formal night. I must say that this time more than any other, he stood out a little and we saw only a handful of tuxes. I would say that the majority of men were in slacks and a nice top.

I never saw any really dressy ladies this time, most with a cocktail-type dress and/or a pantsuit.

The ONLY people that didn't fit in and people were looking at were the ones that wore shorts and tee shirts/tank tops in the dining rooms.

To me, that is just rude. If you want to dress like that, no problem...go to the buffet, it's almost the same meal and you will fit in with the shorts/tees. If you are going to eat in the dining room, make some kind of an effort! You absolutely don't need a gown/tux/suit...but a nice pair of pants and a nice shirt/blouse will do just fine!

In 2005, my luggage didn't arrive until after 10pm and the only thing I had was shorts. Even though it was the first night and it was a casual attire that night, it just felt wrong to wear my shorts to dinner in Lumieres. :sad2: I felt so out of place. I LOVE shorts and could wear them everyday but it just felt wrong to be wearing them in a lovely restaurant. Just before dinner we ran into Mike & Robin in Mickey's Mates and they were SO gorgeous!!! I was SO embarrassed  :scared: They were all clean and purdy and I looked like I was ready to hit the Magic Kingdom  :rolleyes1

We won't be dressing up as much on this cruise (luggage restrictions! and a three-year old  ) but I will make an effort :thumbsup2

Ok, I will step down off my soapbox now
huh.gif

I have my cruise clothes. I have nice tops and capri's. I am not a dresser and would never show up in shorts and T's. Those are for the pool and the beach.

It doesn't take much effort to dress up a little, you could get away with a nice pair of black pants and different tops. With the luggage limits I bet you see alot of repeats.

Hello everyone! :goodvibes

Hope you all had a lovely holiday and enjoyed time well spent with those who are near and dear to you.

Jay and I gave ourselves a pretty amazing Christmas giftie ... but it also required that we give something up.

Soooooo .... we were quoted an amazing price for the 2010 September repo cruise that sails from Barcelona to Port Canaveral (this amazing price included airfare ... wow!). Anyway we've always wanted a chance to try a more unique cruise and dip our feet into something on the other side of the Atlantic. So we canceled this cruise and booked the transatlantic instead - we just couldn't pass it up.

I know some of you will probably shake your fists at us since we canceled the 2007 cruise (but that one was out of my hands ... stupid foundation), but this other cruise is an opportunity we might not see again.

There may still be a possibilty that we could use our DVC to take this cruise, but I don't think Jay really wants to do that. So, please remove Bendy and her Bubba from the passenger list and add us to the "friends" list (if you'll still have us, that is).

More likely than not we'll be at WDW the week leading up to your cruise departure, and we would be tickled to meet with any of you who might be so inclined. We're really harmless ... unless there's food on the table. ;)

Best wishes to you all for a happy, healthy, joy-filled new year and a terrific cruise. :grouphug:

Sorry to hear that Brenda, but happy for you to do the repo cruise:yay:
I'd love to do that one some day also, but have no plans for any cruises for awhile.
I'm not going on this cruise either but still love to chat, as I know you'll still be on just like you did for our last cruise.
So keep up with us!:grouphug:

Also, Merry belated Christmas everyone!
Hope it was great and everyone had a nice holiday:santa:

WOW! Red shorts?? Talk about trying to stick out! Maybe she was making a statement :lmao:

I agree with you Cass and I'm sure you'll look lovely what ever you wear.

Thanks Heather  I think this cruise will be capris and nice blouses :thumbsup2 Kira will be dressier than me :rotfl2:

Wow, wish they would do that more often! :thumbsup2

Exactly! ::yes::

Good afternoon everyone. We have enjoyed a nice time with my parents, but now it is almost time to load the car and head home to Connecticut. This evening, Elaine's parents will be coming to our house for a few days, so we will be with family, but in our own home.

I am not looking forward to packing up the car, then unloading it in 3 hours when we get home!

Hooray, some sense for once.

I have been on several 7 nights on the Magic and formal night is formal. Captain Mickey and Minnie also dress up and you can get your picture taken with them. Many men choose to wear tuxedos but, at a minimum, they expect the gentlemen to wear a dark suit and tie. Both my Dad and my brother chose to wear tuxes. My Dad owns one, because he needs it for the Knights of Columbus but Frank rented his from Disney. You fill out a form ahead of time and they have it waiting in your cabin and they pick it up after you leave. It fit quite well and he looked very nice. If you rent one, you can always choose to wear it again on semi formal night to get your money's worth!

Ladies wear anything from cocktail dresses to beaded gowns to dressy pantsuits. I've wore a gown for my parents 50th anniversary and a cocktail length dress the other times. I love to get all dressed up for formal night! Just a suggestion - I have a friend who cruises a lot and she picks up inexpensive formal dresses in consignment shops. The dresses have usually only been worn once or twice and you can get them pretty cheap.

You can choose not to dress up and ignore the formal night, however, they really prefer that you head for the buffet and do not eat in the dining rooms that night.

Semi formal is supposed to be jackets and ties for the men and a dress or pantsuit for the ladies.

Hope that helps!

We have been on three 7 day. Roger just wears a suit and tie and I have a black dress. It's not a gown and we fit right in. On our last 7 day in 2006 our table mates came in shorts and nice shirts he was so sunburnt he couldn't wear pants. It didn't bother us at all- I even offered to go change if it would make him more comfortable:rotfl2: I really don't like dresses.

Amen! I agree - if it is formal night, then people should dress formally. I think having the different nights is all part of the fun, and dressing up for formal night is part of that fun.

Thanks everyone. That helps. We certainly would dress up. Didn't mean to imply we wouldn't. I was just wondering if gowns & tuxes were required as I don't really want to spend much $$ on stuff we won't wear again. But if I run into a good sale or deal at a consignment shop I might buy. I think for the most part we have appropriate clothing IF I don't need a long gown. I would never show up for dinner in shorts, red or not! The luggage restrictions present a problem too.

That's the best idea Nan.

And you Rose. How was your festivities?

Hi Heather:wave:

Christmas was very nice, thank you.

Christmas eve though, I worked 12 hours! :headache: It was very stressful, and when I came home I was a complete miserable @#&*$:rolleyes1
Luckily for me my boyfriend and son were very nice and understanding and didn't take my mood personally.
They forgave me for Christmas:hug:

But I'm glad it's over now.

On to the new year:)

Nancy - You'll look beautiful in whatever you wear, and I know whatever it is will be appropriate! I can't wait to see you again!

You guys looked nice every night. I would not go out and spend $$ on stuff we will wear once. You were dressier than me and I don't plan on changing. All my pictures look the same, same clothes every year. Except if I don't lose some weight nothing will fit. I am determined to get back to the gym....

I like your idea of same pants, different tops. In fact I'd already thought of the mix & match.
