No, they won't be going to Alaska.

Also, I believe the new ships have a certain length of committment to FL (I think 3 years).

Further, unless they station the new ships in the Pacific, they'd have to take it around the tip of South America to get back to FL until the 3rd lane of the Canal is done. The new ships will be too big for the current locks.

However, I think you'll save a ton of money if you go on another line.

Can't remember if I posted it here or not, but you should see how much cheaper Norwegian is the week of the BOB. You would still get St. Thomas, but pick up Tortola instead of St. Maarten, and add the Dominican Republic.

The total for the 3 of us in a mini-suite would be the same as we're paying for our SPH (an inside room) on DCL.

Very interested to see what DCL prices the "normal" cruises at for the rest of the year. When is that due out by the way?

I'm interested as well. I'm starting to wonder if DCL is getting out of reach for us. We are even considering taking DD on a Panama Canal on another line because of pricing, as well as "normal" cruises. I would like to try one of the mega RCCL ships, including the Oasis that is coming out. Definately will want to cruise at least once on the new DCL ships. As for them I think they said the new Panama Canal locks are set to open around 2015, 3 years after the 2nd new ship is done, so who knows maybe Sean and I will be heading out on that one if they decided to send one of the ships back. Don't get me wrong, nothing beats DCL right now, but they seem to be out pricing themselves. Of course it has been many years since we cruised on the fun ship, the only other line we have been on.

If I could afford the $1,000 pp airfare, I would look into the DCL cruises, with of course a stop to see my friends in the UK.

Although, the pound is sure dropping against the dollar now. Might become affordable once again.

Go on..... just think of all the history your ds could see, ...all those castles... and his little cruise buddy Ellis of course

Wow! - thats a huge difference. We should all meet up on a different ship then for Bob 3

Boy Paige and you could travel to France and have an easy time speaking and understanding, more so than I. My 4 years of French was way too many years ago.

Doesnt matter if you speak french or not ,..... they'll still pretend not to understand you and take the **** for trying to do their accent.
