Cass / Christian ... we can't watch CBS.com from WDW because we won't bring our laptop with us (too much of a hassle).

I did realize that with the time zone change it will be 10PM when the show starts rather than the 9PM we're used to here at home. I'm pretty sure we'll be back at the resort by then to settle in and cry (at least I will) when we see poor Warrick again. He's always been my favorite character. :sad1:

The Dodgers are now the only team I might tune in to watch...and that depends on who's pitching. I have loosely followed the career of Greg Maddox. He was in our class in high school. I've always said... if I get into financial trouble, I'll just sell my yearbook...complete with autograph!

I think we'll end up following the American League a little more closely this year ... Tampa Bay is a pretty compelling story this season.

Having said that ... Go Dodgers! :thumbsup2

Wait until I tell Jay you've got a yearbook with Maddox's autograph ... that's so cool!

scary bridges ... I don't like bridges very much to begin with and crossing Lake Pontchartrain is excruciating. The causeway is something like 24 miles ... :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Oh yeah, I did that in a train. Couldn't see anything but water, didn't seem to be much land next to the tracks. Very scary.

I don't blame you there! Unless I am visiting family, I usually leave the computer at home. I thought about taking it on our last cruise but with small children and all their junk, I didn't want to take yet another thing through airport security.

I just take my iPod!

I think I'd like it even less in a train.

The sad part of all of this bridge phobia is that I have to cross the Missouri River every day to get back and forth to work. So I end up dealing with bridges twice a day during the workweek.

Thats cool. My dad's aunt is a friend of Joe Torre's sister. I think they worked together. She has a ball given to her by Joe Torre that is signed by the 1964 National League All Star Team of which Torre was a player. There are a lot of cool signatures on that ball.

My husband would be over the moon with something like that. He is Mr. Baseball and lurrrrrrves his Cardinal baseball.

I would dearly love to get him tickets to the 2009 All-Star Game since they're holding it here next summer, but unless you're a season ticket holder it's impossible to get tickets. And of course everyone I know who has season tickets doesn't want to let them go without charging a massive mark-up.

I have a season ticket plan to the Yankees..a small one but one nonetheless and I was online getting all star game tickets but the ticketmaster site had a glitch and by the time it was straightend out all the tickets were gone.

How long have we had the 2 party system? It seems like no one can come on to the scene that is not part of the Dems or the Reps.

I thought this year would have been the year a "Moderate" party would have evolved, but then McCain won on the right. You figure there is a core of people right in the middle who sway one way or the other to determine the elections. If they can pull a little from the fringe towards the middle of each of the two dominate parties, they'd have a chance. Then we'd never have a president with over 50% of the vote.

My father's view has always been to vote with the party. He goes with the idea that no matter what they say to get elected or even what their personal views are, they will vote with their party most of the time.

My scary bridge is a tie, but the one I will mention is in Virginia in the Shenandoah Valley. Mack and I were looking for a B&B once and found a place called The River'd Inn. We drove to it to find we had to cross a river on this bridge that had no sides at all. Turns out it floods there so often, and when it does, it would take the bridge out if it had sides, so they built it without sides. It was really fine - we stopped on it and took pictures and were really enjoying it. We finished our pictures and got back in the car to finish crossing when a car came from the opposite direction - now that is when it got scary!

Megan (reading over my shoulder;) ) says that all the presidents look alike (the grey hair, she says..."George Bush...George Washington...") and that Obama would change that!

that's a bummer ... the downside of technology but I guess it's still better than sleeping overnight on the curb outside the stadium. ;)

Yeah I had two computers and multiple browsers open. I was talking to people who sit around me and you couldn't just buy a ticket. You had to buy all or nothing. For my seats in the bleachers it would have been about $300 for the pair and I could have sold them for about $1500-$1600.

After a couple of hours I get an email from the yankees explaining the glitch and that all tickets were gone.

There was a time, about 8 years ago, that I would have considered McCain a moderate. Right now I'm not sure where he actually falls.

I've never understood how another party has not managed to make inroads into the political system, but it hasn't been for trying. Ross Perot was the last one to pull signifcant votes (I think) but during the thirties I want to say that the American socialist party make some pretty big inroads and the KKK was pretty powerful politcally in the twenties.

And who can forget Teddy Roosevelt's Bull Moose Party in the 1912 election? He split the party by running against Taft and allowed Woodrow Wilson to take the white house.

I need a life. :rotfl2:

I think Perot actually helped get Clinton elected. He pulled more from the Republicans, I think. We actually went to a rally for him. It was kind of fun.

I think now the parties are so entrenched that it is hard for any new party (except the so-called Independents) to really take flight. Our system is definitely a far cry from it's original form!
