OK kids, gotta fly, I've got a hall to decorate!

Happy partying tomorrow!!! :thumbsup2

Oh looky, I got post #3000 on this thread and wasn't even aware where we were in the count............:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

No flaming, nor will I respond (the BOB is not the place for it and the fact that I'm in a political minority here on the DIS, although I guess I am now an independent voter since I'm not registered with either party), but will correct the record that the Democrats controlled the Senate after the 2004 election. The House turned over to the Democrats in 2006.

You silly ... there is no way you can be in a political minority on the DIS unless you're a member of the Whig party. :rotfl2:

Actually, the community boards have some of the most rabidly right-and-left wing people I've ever come across in a forum. If you ask me those folks need a heaping helping of pixie dust (or a stiff drink). ;)

As for the house make-up ... I must have a bad source of information because I'm seeing that the Senate was 48 Dem / 51 Rep / 1 Independ from 2003 - 2005, and then 44 Dem, 55 Rep / 1 Independ from 2005 - 2006; the House during the same period was 204 Dem to 229 Repub and then moved a teeny bit to 202 Dem to 231 Repub until the 2006 elections.

But maybe my source material is wrong.

Regardless, I think it's fair to say that both parties are repsonsible, both together and independently, for the fine mess we find ourselves in today (and lots of voters bear responsibility, too). I think it would be refreshing to hear someone stand up and say something along those lines but real honesty is a rarity in politics, as we all know.

I shall refrain from any other public comments about the big sh!t pie we're all going to have to share for many years to come. ;) No hard feelings on my end and hopefully I haven't created any. But I'm pretty well outta here for the next couple of weeks so if I've annoyed anyone you can breathe a sigh of relief. :goodvibes

Who's planning what for 2010?

I'm thinking either a Special Wonder cruise, if they have them, or a CC Double Dip if they still do that.

Not sure just yet? :confused3

Will have to wait and see what happens.....

Were it only up to me, I'd have us booked already. Since hubby is involved too, a decision has not been made yet. Kathy (njprincess) is checking on something for us tomorrow. We have some other friends from the last cruise who might be talked into a 7 day as well, but they haven't committed. For now, I am a lady in waiting.

Hope you don't have to wait too long.

Yeah I can totally relate!

I am the obsessive over planner in my house. I am always trying to figure out our vacation and travel plans years in advance. I have almost as much fun planning them. Well maybe not even close!

Hey B, they pass the bailout bill and the markets still drop 157 points.

I don't see this helping in the long run. I still see the Dow going below 10,000 in the near term. Watch for big sell-off in Nov and Dec depending on who wins on Nov 4. A lot of people will take advantage of the current cap gains tax rates if they have any securities left that are up.

That's me for tonight....have a great evening everyone.

aren't you already married, andy? ;)

Yeah, but you see........................there is this red headed woman who digs the scar on my left knee........................and well, you get the picture.........................:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Yeah ... I'm no expert but I'm totally confused about the markets right now. :confused3

We cut back on our 401k contributions by about 50%, but aren't selling anything. I think that the underlying value of most companies listed on the Exchange are actually fine, but people are freaked out and making decisions emotionally rather than logically.

I think you're absolutely correct. If you look at 1987, the market popped back up after the big drop and then six weeks later was when I think it actually bottomed out.

Might not be the Whig party, but being a male, maybe the Toupee party. :rotfl2:

I think what I looked up may not have it listed right. It said Bush had the House for 6 years and the Senate for 4.

I know there was some big screw up back after the 2000 election when Jeffords switched parties.

Sorry, that's one picture I do NOT need to see.
