It is so great that you get to go with your family! My hubby and I are taking our moms on the 2 day cruise to nowhere in January. Someday, I want to drag my sister on a longer cruise with me. It may not happen until she gets her second boy out of school though. Luckily, that is only a couple of years from now.
I thought about the 2 days to NW cruise....but i think i'd get off and i'd NEED more LOL!!!!![]()

I'm a diehard Minnesota girl but I "did time" in Iowa, as I like to joke. Worked in Decorah for 4 years out of college before moving back to MN. I did come to appreciate a lot of things about Iowa but the Hawkeyes was not on that list! They are always beating up on my Gophers!
Yep I know Johnston....and so know what you mean about quality education. My kids have gone to private schools as i felt they would most closely resemble the quality education i wanted for them...Son just started his sophomore year at Univ of Pacific (another reason he's not cruising this trip)I am from Johnston (a suburb of Des Moines). Yes Des Moines has suburbsI love Iowa although it took me nearly 20 years away to realize that. My sister still lives there. Just in the past year I have come to appreciate it and miss it. I wish my kids could benefit from that quality Iowa education system. But I doubt I'll get back there. I was born a Hawkeye (at the UofI hospital).
After college, i lived in Boone & worked in Ames (Sundstrands) for 3-4 yrs.....small world isn't it???Holy Cow!! Has this disboard/cruise been taken over by Iowegians?!
I'm from Ames (Go Cyclones!), and went to school at U of I (Go Cyclones!!
)
It's always fun to here/read about fellow Iowans in unexpected places!

!! Go DODGERS!!! Yes, I know, they are out of the running, but I will still cheer them on. In fact, I go to my last game of the season tomorrow night.
Why does football have to come along to mess up baseball??

I was in Iowa City 90-'94. I visit family a couple of times a year, but haven't lived in Iowa since then. Sure do miss it from time to time.
VERY small world!.... kind of makes me want to sing a song.... like some sort of multi-cultural Disney song that just gets stuck in your head!

Isn't that crazy - same thing happened to us last time we were in Italy - the kids ran into a girl from HS....OK I went to U of I for 2 years and then transferred out mainly due to my father's declining health. I was there 89-91! Weird we may have crossed paths before. You know one time when on the panama canal cruise I was walking through a town square in Costa Rica and ran into a girl from high school!
