i grew up in/around Fort Dodge (which is where my 3 sisters & mother are still living)...this is my baby sis & her youngest...their VERY first cruise!!!

It is so great that you get to go with your family! My hubby and I are taking our moms on the 2 day cruise to nowhere in January. Someday, I want to drag my sister on a longer cruise with me. It may not happen until she gets her second boy out of school though. Luckily, that is only a couple of years from now.

YES i'm so excited....it was supposed to be both of us with our only daughters...but my little girl (not really so little and almost 30) is expecting her 1st baby in Jan/Feb - so ended up being too far along to meet Disney's 24 week rule....we'll just go again with the baby in a few years :)
I thought about the 2 days to NW cruise....but i think i'd get off and i'd NEED more LOL!!!!:rotfl2:

I know what you mean. It is like a "training" cruise for my mom. She has motion sickness fears, so I thought this would be a great way for her to get a taste without risking too much.

I live in Ontario Canada does that count for anything... Sorry just felt as though I should jump in here. My apologies, back to your discussion.... :goodvibes

Hey, my DH and I are taking MY mom and niece on that 2 days cruise, too!!!! My mother has steadfastly refused to go on a cruise because as she puts it "I can't drink all that water" I tell her she doesn't want to drink ANY of it because it salt water. :rotfl:

So, when I found this 2 day cruise she decided that she would give it a try.

Boy, is this a small world or what???

I am from Johnston (a suburb of Des Moines). Yes Des Moines has suburbs :rotfl2: I love Iowa although it took me nearly 20 years away to realize that. My sister still lives there. Just in the past year I have come to appreciate it and miss it. I wish my kids could benefit from that quality Iowa education system. But I doubt I'll get back there. I was born a Hawkeye (at the UofI hospital).

Holy Cow!! Has this disboard/cruise been taken over by Iowegians?! :thumbsup2

I'm from Ames (Go Cyclones!:cheer2:), and went to school at U of I (Go Cyclones!!:cheer2::rotfl2:)

It's always fun to here/read about fellow Iowans in unexpected places!

I'm a diehard Minnesota girl but I "did time" in Iowa, as I like to joke. Worked in Decorah for 4 years out of college before moving back to MN. I did come to appreciate a lot of things about Iowa but the Hawkeyes was not on that list! They are always beating up on my Gophers!

I got my docs today from my TA:woohoo:. The booklets (docs) are really nice this year. This being my 7th cruise this is the earliest I've ever got them

Yeah Twins! We're hoping to watch them in the World Series while we're on the boat! :thumbsup2

Yep I know Johnston....and so know what you mean about quality education. My kids have gone to private schools as i felt they would most closely resemble the quality education i wanted for them...Son just started his sophomore year at Univ of Pacific (another reason he's not cruising this trip)

ahhhh sorry about your gophers

We're going to have to try to meet up at the "meet" on the 23rd - might be hard with the amt of ppl on this list...hummm maybe my sister has an IOWA flag or something.....

Aww, not a GIANTS fan?!!! And here I was really starting to like you, too :rotfl: :goodvibes!! Go DODGERS!!! Yes, I know, they are out of the running, but I will still cheer them on. In fact, I go to my last game of the season tomorrow night.

Why does football have to come along to mess up baseball??

LOVE THOSE DODGERS and the Oakland Raiders:yay:

OMG that is crazy! What years were you at U of I? The only thing Ames has over Iowa City is Battle's BBQ :cool1:
It is fun to run into Iowans in weird places. When we lived in Colorado there were a lot of Iowans there. In TX not so many but the guy at the end of my street has a Hawkeye flag in his garage. I had to meet him :)

I was in Iowa City 90-'94. I visit family a couple of times a year, but haven't lived in Iowa since then. Sure do miss it from time to time.

VERY small world!.... kind of makes me want to sing a song :rockband: .... like some sort of multi-cultural Disney song that just gets stuck in your head! :thumbsup2

OK I went to U of I for 2 years and then transferred out mainly due to my father's declining health. I was there 89-91! Weird we may have crossed paths before. You know one time when on the panama canal cruise I was walking through a town square in Costa Rica and ran into a girl from high school!

Yep, by St. Cloud!
(grew up in the Twin Cities though!)

We drive through the St. Cloud area all the time on our way to the cabin. Can you believe this cruise is almost here!??! :yay:

Are you flying out of MSP? Any plans to do WDW before or after? We leave on the 20th and will stay at BCV for a couple of nights before heading to PC. We only plan to go to Epcot for Food and Wine but we have dinner planned at the Cali Grill one night so will see Hallowishes from the terrace - can't wait!:yay:

AND...THE TWINS' MAGIC NUMBER IS 2!!!!

I will be at the game Wednesday so I hope they wait until then to clinch the title!:banana::banana:

Isn't that crazy - same thing happened to us last time we were in Italy - the kids ran into a girl from HS....
